   אִישׁisha manהָיָהha/YAwasבְאֶרֶץ־עוּץve/E/rets-utsin the land of UzאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand wasהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manהַהוּאha/HUthatתָּםtamblamelessוְיָשָׁרve/ya/SHARand uprightוִירֵאvi/REand one who fearedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְסָרve/SARand turned awayמֵרָע׃me/RAfrom evil

   There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

   וַיִּוָּלְדוּvay/yiv/va/le/DUand were bornלוֹloto himשִׁבְעָהshiv/Asevenבָנִיםva/NIMsonsוְשָׁלוֹשׁve/sha/LOSHand threeבָּנוֹת׃ba/NOTdaughters

   And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

   His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

   וְהָלְכוּve/ha/le/KHUand would goבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsוְעָשׂוּve/a/SUand holdמִשְׁתֶּהmish/TEa feastבֵּיתbetin the house ofאִישׁisheachיוֹמוֹyo/MOon his dayוְשָׁלְחוּve/sha/le/CHUand would sendוְקָרְאוּve/ka/re/Uand inviteלִשְׁלֹשֶׁתlish/LO/shetthreeאַחְיֹתֵיהֶםach/yo/te/HEMtheir sistersלֶאֱכֹלle/e/KHOLto eatוְלִשְׁתּוֹתve/lish/TOTand to drinkעִמָּהֶם׃im/ma/HEMwith them

   And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

   And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

   Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־הַשָּׂטָןel-Has/sa/TANto the Adversaryמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereתָּבֹאta/VOdo you comeוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredהַשָּׂטָןhas/Sa/TANthe Adversaryאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidמִשּׁוּטmish/SHUTfrom going to and froבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthוּמֵהִתְהַלֵּךְu/me/hit/hal/LEKHand from walking back and forthבָּהּ׃bain it

   And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־הַשָּׂטָןel-Has/sa/TANto the Adversaryהֲשַׂמְתָּha/SAM/tahave you setלִבְּךָlib/be/KHAyour heartעַל־עַבְדִּיal-av/DIon My servantאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobכִּיkithatאֵיןenthere is noneכָּמֹהוּka/MO/hulike himבָּאָרֶץba/A/retson the earthאִישׁisha manתָּםtamblamelessוְיָשָׁרve/ya/SHARand uprightיְרֵאye/REone who fearsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְסָרve/SARand turns awayמֵרָע׃me/RAfrom evil

   And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

9. 9

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredהַשָּׂטָןhas/Sa/TANthe Adversaryאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהַחִנָּםha/chin/NAMfor nothingיָרֵאya/REdoes fearאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10. 10

    הֲלֹא־[אַתָּה]ha/LO-at/TAhave not You(את)tשַׂכְתָּSAKH/tamade a hedgeבַעֲדוֹva/a/DOaround himוּבְעַד־בֵּיתוֹu/ve/AD-be/TOand around his houseוּבְעַדu/ve/ADand aroundכׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹkol-a/SHER-loall that he hasמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVon every sideמַעֲשֵׂהma/a/SEthe work ofיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsבֵּרַכְתָּbe/RAKH/taYou have blessedוּמִקְנֵהוּu/mik/NE/huand his possessionsפָּרַץpa/RATShave increasedבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the land

    Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11. 11

    וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutשְׁלַח־נָאshe/LACH-nastretch out nowיָדְךָya/de/KHAYour handוְגַעve/GAand touchבְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹbe/KHOL-a/SHER-loall that he hasאִם־לֹאim-loif notעַל־פָּנֶיךָal-pa/NE/khato Your faceיְבָרְכֶךָּ׃ye/va/re/khek/KAhe will curse You

    But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־הַשָּׂטָןel-Has/sa/TANto the Adversaryהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹkhol-a/SHER-loall that he hasבְּיָדֶךָbe/ya/DE/khais in your handרַקrakonlyאֵלָיוe/LAYVagainst himאַל־תִּשְׁלַחal-tish/LACHdo not stretch outיָדֶךָya/DE/khayour handוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outהַשָּׂטָןhas/Sa/TANthe Adversaryמֵעִםme/IMfromפְּנֵיpe/NEthe presence ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

13. 13

    וַיְהִיvay/HInow there wasהַיּוֹםhay/YOMa day whenוּבָנָיוu/va/NAYVand his sonsוּבְנֹתָיוu/ve/no/TAYVand his daughtersאֹכְלִיםokh/LIMeatingוְשֹׁתִיםve/sho/TIMand drinkingיַיִןYA/yinwineבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאֲחִיהֶםa/chi/HEMtheir brotherהַבְּכוֹר׃hab/be/KHORthe firstborn

    And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

14. 14

    וּמַלְאָךְu/mal/AKHand a messengerבָּאbacameאֶל־אִיּוֹבel-Iy/YOVto Jobוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidהַבָּקָרhab/ba/KARthe oxenהָיוּha/YUwereחֹרְשׁוֹתchor/SHOTplowingוְהָאֲתֹנוֹתve/ha/a/to/NOTand the female donkeysרֹעוֹתro/OTwere grazingעַל־יְדֵיהֶם׃al-ye/de/HEMbeside them

    And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

15. 15

    וַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand attackedשְׁבָאShe/VAShebaוַתִּקָּחֵםvat/tik/ka/CHEMand took themוְאֶת־הַנְּעָרִיםve/ET-han/ne/a/RIMand the servantsהִכּוּhik/KUthey have struckלְפִי־חָרֶבle/FI-CHA/revby the edge of the swordוָאִמָּלְטָהva/im/ma/le/TAand I have escapedרַק־אֲנִיrak-a/NIonly Iלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלָךְ׃lakhto you

    And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

16. 16

    עוֹדodwhile stillזֶהzethis oneמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERwas speakingוְזֶהve/ZEanotherבָּאbacameוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאֵשׁeshthe fire ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodנָפְלָהna/fe/LAhas fallenמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםmin-hash/sha/MA/yimfrom the heavensוַתִּבְעַרvat/tiv/ARand burned upבַּצֹּאןbats/TSONthe sheepוּבַנְּעָרִיםu/van/ne/a/RIMand the servantsוַתֹּאכְלֵםvat/to/khe/LEMand it consumed themוָאִמָּלְטָהva/im/ma/le/TAand I have escapedרַק־אֲנִיrak-a/NIonly Iלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלָךְ׃lakhto you

    While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

    עוֹדodwhile stillזֶהzethis oneמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERwas speakingוְזֶהve/ZEanotherבָּאbacameוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidכַּשְׂדִּיםkaS/DIMthe ChaldeansשָׂמוּSA/muformedשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeרָאשִׁיםra/SHIMbandsוַיִּפְשְׁטוּvay/yif/she/TUand raidedעַל־הַגְּמַלִּיםal-hag/ge/mal/LIMthe camelsוַיִּקָּחוּםvay/yik/ka/CHUMand they took themוְאֶת־הַנְּעָרִיםve/ET-han/ne/a/RIMand the servantsהִכּוּhik/KUthey have struckלְפִי־חָרֶבle/FI-CHA/revby the edge of the swordוָאִמָּלְטָהva/im/ma/le/TAand I have escapedרַק־אֲנִיrak-a/NIonly Iלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלָךְ׃lakhto you

    While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

18. 18

    עַדadwhileזֶהzethis oneמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERwas speakingוְזֶהve/ZEanotherבָּאbacameוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidבָּנֶיךָba/NE/khayour sonsוּבְנוֹתֶיךָu/ve/no/TE/khaand your daughtersאֹכְלִיםokh/LIMeatingוְשֹׁתִיםve/sho/TIMand drinkingיַיִןYA/yinwineבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאֲחִיהֶםa/chi/HEMtheir brotherהַבְּכוֹר׃hab/be/KHORthe firstborn

    While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

19. 19

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdרוּחַRU/acha windגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatבָּאָהba/Acameמֵעֵבֶרme/E/verfrom acrossהַמִּדְבָּרham/mid/BARthe wildernessוַיִּגַּעvay/yig/GAand struckבְּאַרְבַּעbe/ar/BAthe fourפִּנּוֹתpin/NOTcorners ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand it fellעַל־הַנְּעָרִיםal-han/ne/a/RIMupon the young menוַיָּמוּתוּvay/ya/MU/tuand they diedוָאִמָּלְטָהva/im/ma/le/TAand I have escapedרַק־אֲנִיrak-a/NIonly Iלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto tellלָךְ׃lakhto you

    And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

20. 20

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he aroseאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobוַיִּקְרַעvay/yik/RAand he toreאֶת־מְעִלוֹet-me/i/LOhis robeוַיָּגׇזvay/YA/gozand shavedאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundוַיִּשְׁתָּחוּ׃vay/yish/TA/chuand worshiped

    Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעָרֹםa/ROMnakedיָצָתִיya/TSA/tiI came outמִבֶּטֶןmib/BE/tenfrom the wombאִמִּיim/MIof my motherוְעָרֹםve/a/ROMand nakedאָשׁוּבa/SHUVshall I returnשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנָתַןna/TANgaveוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDלָקָחla/KACHhas takenיְהִיye/HImay beשֵׁםshemthe name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמְבֹרָךְ׃me/vo/RAKHblessed

    And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

22. 22

    בְּכׇל־זֹאתbe/KHOL-zotin all thisלֹא־חָטָאlo-cha/TAdid not sinאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobוְלֹא־נָתַןve/LO-na/TANnor chargedתִּפְלָהtif/LAwrongלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMto God

    In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
