   The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

   כֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעָלֶיךָa/LE/khato youבָּרוּךְ׃ba/RUKHO Baruch

   Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;

   אָמַרְתָּa/MAR/tayou have saidאוֹי־נָאoy-nawoe nowלִיlito meכִּי־יָסַףki-ya/SAFfor has addedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיָגוֹןya/GONsorrowעַל־מַכְאֹבִיal-makh/o/VIupon my painיָגַעְתִּיya/GA/tiI am wearyבְּאַנְחָתִיbe/an/cha/TIwith my groaningוּמְנוּחָהu/me/nu/CHAand restלֹאlonoמָצָאתִי׃ma/TSA/tiI find

   Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the LORD hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

   כֹּהkothusתֹּאמַרto/MARyou shall sayאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲשֶׁר־בָּנִיתִיa/SHER-ba/NI/tiwhat I have builtאֲנִיa/NIIהֹרֵסho/RESam tearing downוְאֵתve/ETandאֲשֶׁר־נָטַעְתִּיa/SHER-na/TA/tiwhat I have plantedאֲנִיa/NIIנֹתֵשׁno/TESHam plucking upוְאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץve/ET-kol-ha/A/retseven the whole landהִיא׃hithis

   Thus shalt thou say unto him, The LORD saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

   וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youתְּבַקֶּשׁ־לְךָte/vak/KESH-le/KHAdo you seek for yourselfגְדֹלוֹתge/do/LOTgreat thingsאַל־תְּבַקֵּשׁal-te/vak/KESHdo not seekכִּיkiforהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵבִיאme/VIwill bringרָעָהra/Aevilעַל־כׇּל־בָּשָׂרal-kol-ba/SARon all fleshנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIbut I will giveלְךָle/KHAyouאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָet-naf/she/KHAyour lifeלְשָׁלָלle/sha/LALas a prizeעַלalinכׇּל־הַמְּקֹמוֹתkol-ham/me/ko/MOTall the placesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereתֵּלֶךְ־שָׁם׃TE/lekh-shamyou go

   And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.
