   The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

   To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofיְהוֹיָקִיםYe/ho/ya/KIMJehoiakimבֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּben-Yo/shiy/YA/huson of JosiahמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahעַד־תֹּםad-tomuntil the end ofעַשְׁתֵּי־עֶשְׂרֵהash/TE-es/REthe eleventhשָׁנָהsha/NAyearלְצִדְקִיָּהוּle/Tsid/kiy/YA/huof Zedekiahבֶן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּven-Yo/shiy/YA/huson of JosiahמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahעַד־גְּלוֹתad-ge/LOTuntil the exile ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהַחֲמִישִׁי׃ha/cha/mi/SHIthe fifth

   It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

   Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

   בְּטֶרֶםbe/TE/rembefore[אֶצׇּרְךָ]ets/tsor/KHAI formed youבַבֶּטֶןvab/BE/tenin the bellyיְדַעְתִּיךָye/da/TI/khaI knew youוּבְטֶרֶםu/ve/TE/remand beforeתֵּצֵאte/TSEyou came forthמֵרֶחֶםme/RE/chemfrom the wombהִקְדַּשְׁתִּיךָhik/dash/TI/khaI sanctified youנָבִיאna/VIa prophetלַגּוֹיִםlag/go/YIMto the nationsנְתַתִּיךָ׃ne/tat/TI/khaI appointed you

   Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6. 6

   וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאֲהָהּa/HAalasאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיlo-ya/DA/tiI do not know howדַּבֵּרdab/BERto speakכִּי־נַעַרki-NA/arfor a youthאָנֹכִי׃a/no/KHII

   Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meאַל־תֹּאמַרal-to/MARdo not sayנַעַרNA/ara youthאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIכִּיkiforעַל־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרal-kol-a/SHERto all to whomאֶשְׁלָחֲךָesh/la/cha/KHAI will send youתֵּלֵךְte/LEKHyou shall goוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatאֲצַוְּךָa/tsav/ve/KHAI will command youתְּדַבֵּר׃te/dab/BERyou shall speak

   But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8. 8

   אַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not be afraidמִפְּנֵיהֶםmip/pe/ne/HEMof themכִּי־אִתְּךָki-it/te/KHAfor with youאֲנִיa/NIam Iלְהַצִּלֶךָle/hats/tsi/LE/khato deliver youנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

   Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHthen put outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יָדוֹet-ya/DOHis handוַיַּגַּעvay/yag/GAand touchedעַל־פִּיal-pimy mouthוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI have putדְבָרַיde/va/RAYmy wordsבְּפִיךָ׃be/FI/khain your mouth

   Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10. 10

    רְאֵהre/Eseeהִפְקַדְתִּיךָhif/kad/TI/khaI have appointed youהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעַל־הַגּוֹיִםal-hag/go/YIMover the nationsוְעַל־הַמַּמְלָכוֹתve/AL-ham/mam/la/KHOTand over the kingdomsלִנְתוֹשׁlin/TOSHto pluck upוְלִנְתוֹץve/lin/TOTSand to break downוּלְהַאֲבִידu/le/ha/a/VIDand to destroyוְלַהֲרוֹסve/la/ha/ROSand to overthrowלִבְנוֹתliv/NOTto buildוְלִנְטוֹעַ׃ve/lin/TO/aand to plant

    See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָה־אַתָּהma-at/TAwhat do youרֹאֶהro/EseeיִרְמְיָהוּYir/me/YA/huJeremiahוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidמַקֵּלmak/KELa rod ofשָׁקֵדsha/KEDan almond treeאֲנִיa/NIIרֹאֶה׃ro/Esee

    Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meהֵיטַבְתָּhe/TAV/tayou have done wellלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeכִּי־שֹׁקֵדki-sho/KEDfor watchingאֲנִיa/NIam Iעַל־דְּבָרִיal-de/va/RIover my wordלַעֲשֹׂתוֹ׃la/a/so/TOto do it

    Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

13. 13

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meשֵׁנִיתshe/NITa second timeלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhatאַתָּהat/TAyouרֹאֶהro/Eseeוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidסִירsira potנָפוּחַna/FU/achboilingאֲנִיa/NIIרֹאֶהro/Eseeוּפָנָיוu/fa/NAYVand its faceמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEfrom the side ofצָפוֹנָה׃tsa/FO/nathe north

    And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלָיe/LAYto meמִצָּפוֹןmits/tsa/FONfrom the northתִּפָּתַחtip/pa/TACHwill break outהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilעַלalonכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיkol-yosh/VEall the inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe land

    Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

15. 15

    כִּיkiforהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iקֹרֵאko/REam callingלְכׇל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹתle/KHOL-mish/pe/CHOTall the families ofמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofצָפוֹנָהtsa/FO/nathe northנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוּבָאוּu/VA/uand they will comeוְנָתְנוּve/na/te/NUand will setאִישׁisheach oneכִּסְאוֹkis/Ohis throneפֶּתַחPE/tachat the entrance ofשַׁעֲרֵיsha/a/REthe gates ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוְעַלve/ALand againstכׇּל־חוֹמֹתֶיהָkol-cho/mo/TE/haall its wallsסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundוְעַלve/ALand againstכׇּל־עָרֵיkol-a/REall the cities ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

    For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.

16. 16

    וְדִבַּרְתִּיve/dib/bar/TIand I will pronounceמִשְׁפָּטַיmish/pa/TAYmy judgmentsאוֹתָםo/TAMthemעַלalforכׇּל־רָעָתָםkol-ra/a/TAMall their wickednessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoעֲזָבוּנִיa/za/VU/nihave forsaken meוַיְקַטְּרוּvay/kat/te/RUand they burned incenseלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםle/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMto other godsוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּvay/yish/ta/cha/VUand bowed downלְמַעֲשֵׂיle/ma/a/SEto the works ofיְדֵיהֶם׃ye/de/HEMtheir hands

    And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.

17. 17

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youתֶּאְזֹרte/ZORgirdמׇתְנֶיךָmot/NE/khayour loinsוְקַמְתָּve/kam/TAand ariseוְדִבַּרְתָּve/dib/bar/TAand speakאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֲצַוֶּךָּa/tsav/VEK/kacommand youאַל־תֵּחַתal-TE/chatdo not be dismayedמִפְּנֵיהֶםmip/pe/ne/HEMbecause of themפֶּן־אֲחִתְּךָpen-a/chit/te/KHAlest I dismay youלִפְנֵיהֶם׃lif/ne/HEMbefore them

    Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

18. 18

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנְתַתִּיךָne/tat/TI/khaI have made youהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayלְעִירle/IRa cityמִבְצָרmiv/TSARfortifiedוּלְעַמּוּדu/le/am/MUDand into a pillar ofבַּרְזֶלbar/ZELironוּלְחֹמוֹתu/le/cho/MOTand into walls ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץal-kol-ha/A/retsagainst all the landלְמַלְכֵיle/mal/KHEto the kings ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahלְשָׂרֶיהָle/sa/RE/hato its princesלְכֹהֲנֶיהָle/kho/ha/NE/hato its priestsוּלְעַםu/le/AMand the people ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe land

    For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.

19. 19

    וְנִלְחֲמוּve/nil/cha/MUand they will fightאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khaagainst youוְלֹא־יוּכְלוּve/LO-YUKH/lubut they will not prevailלָךְlakhagainst youכִּי־אִתְּךָki-it/te/KHAfor with youאֲנִיa/NIam Iנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDלְהַצִּילֶךָ׃le/hats/tsi/LE/khato deliver you

    And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
