   דִּבְרֵיthe words ofיִרְמְיָהוּJeremiahבֶּן־חִלְקִיָּהוּson of Hilkiahמִן־הַכֹּהֲנִיםfrom the priestsאֲשֶׁרwhich wereבַּעֲנָתוֹתin Anathothבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofבִּנְיָמִן׃Benjamin

   The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:

   אֲשֶׁרwhichהָיָהwasדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֵלָיוto himבִּימֵיin the days ofיֹאשִׁיָּהוּJosiahבֶן־אָמוֹןson of Amonמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahבִּשְׁלֹשׁ־עֶשְׂרֵהin the thirteenthשָׁנָהyearלְמׇלְכוֹ׃of his reign

   To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

   וַיְהִיand it came to passבִּימֵיin the days ofיְהוֹיָקִיםJehoiakimבֶּן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּson of Josiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahעַד־תֹּםuntil the endעַשְׁתֵּי־עֶשְׂרֵהof the eleventhשָׁנָהyearלְצִדְקִיָּהוּof Zedekiahבֶן־יֹאשִׁיָּהוּson of Josiahמֶלֶךְthe king ofיְהוּדָהJudahעַד־גְּלוֹתuntil the exile ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemבַּחֹדֶשׁin the monthהַחֲמִישִׁי׃the fifth

   It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

   וַיְהִיand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֵלַיto meלֵאמֹר׃saying

   Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

   בְּטֶרֶםbefore[אֶצׇּרְךָ]I formed youבַבֶּטֶןin the bellyיְדַעְתִּיךָI knew youוּבְטֶרֶםand beforeתֵּצֵאyou came forthמֵרֶחֶםfrom the wombהִקְדַּשְׁתִּיךָI sanctified youנָבִיאa prophetלַגּוֹיִםto the nationsנְתַתִּיךָ׃I appointed you

   Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6. 6

   וָאֹמַרand I saidאֲהָהּalas!אֲדֹנָיLordיֱהֹוִהGODהִנֵּהbeholdלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיnot I knowדַּבֵּרto speakכִּי־נַעַרbecause a young manאָנֹכִי׃I

   Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7. 7

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלַיto meאַל־תֹּאמַרdo not you sayנַעַרa young manאָנֹכִיIכִּיforעַל־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרupon all thatאֶשְׁלָחֲךָI will send youתֵּלֵךְshould goוְאֵתandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatאֲצַוְּךָI will command youתְּדַבֵּר׃you shall speak

   But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8. 8

   אַל־תִּירָאbe not afraidמִפְּנֵיהֶםfrom before themכִּי־אִתְּךָbecause with youאֲנִיIלְהַצִּלֶךָto deliver youנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

   Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

9. 9

   וַיִּשְׁלַחand put forthיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶת־יָדוֹhis handוַיַּגַּעand he touchedעַל־פִּיupon my mouthוַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלַיto meהִנֵּהbeholdנָתַתִּיI gaveדְבָרַיmy wordsבְּפִיךָ׃in your mouth

   Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10. 10

    רְאֵהbeholdהִפְקַדְתִּיךָI have appointed youהַיּוֹםthe dayהַזֶּהthisעַל־הַגּוֹיִםupon the nationsוְעַל־הַמַּמְלָכוֹתand upon the kingdomsלִנְתוֹשׁto pluck upוְלִנְתוֹץand to pull downוּלְהַאֲבִידand to destroyוְלַהֲרוֹסand to tear downלִבְנוֹתto buildוְלִנְטוֹעַ׃and to plant

    See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

    וַיְהִיand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֵלַיto meלֵאמֹרsayingמָה־אַתָּהwhat youרֹאֶהseeיִרְמְיָהוּJeremiahוָאֹמַרand I saidמַקֵּלa rod ofשָׁקֵדan almond treeאֲנִיIרֹאֶה׃see

    Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלַיto meהֵיטַבְתָּyou have done wellלִרְאוֹתto seeכִּי־שֹׁקֵדbecause am watchingאֲנִיIעַל־דְּבָרִיupon my wordלַעֲשֹׂתוֹ׃to do it

    Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.

13. 13

    וַיְהִיand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֵלַיto meשֵׁנִיתagainלֵאמֹרsayingמָהwhatאַתָּהyouרֹאֶהseeוָאֹמַרand I saidסִירa potנָפוּחַboilingאֲנִיIרֹאֶהseeוּפָנָיוand its faceמִפְּנֵיfrom beforeצָפוֹנָה׃northward

    And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֵלָיunto meמִצָּפוֹןfrom the northתִּפָּתַחshall break forthהָרָעָהthe evilעַלuponכׇּל־יֹשְׁבֵיall inhabitants ofהָאָרֶץ׃the land

    Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

15. 15

    כִּיforהִנְנִיbehold IקֹרֵאI callלְכׇל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹתto all families ofמַמְלְכוֹתthe kingdoms ofצָפוֹנָהnorthwardנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוּבָאוּand they shall comeוְנָתְנוּand they shall putאִישׁeach oneכִּסְאוֹhis throneפֶּתַחat the entrance ofשַׁעֲרֵיthe gates ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemוְעַלand uponכׇּל־חוֹמֹתֶיהָall its wallsסָבִיבall aroundוְעַלand uponכׇּל־עָרֵיall cities ofיְהוּדָה׃Judah

    For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.

16. 16

    וְדִבַּרְתִּיand I will utterמִשְׁפָּטַיmy judgmentsאוֹתָםthemעַלuponכׇּל־רָעָתָםall their wickednessאֲשֶׁרwhichעֲזָבוּנִיthey have forsaken meוַיְקַטְּרוּand they burned incenseלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםto other godsוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּand they worshipedלְמַעֲשֵׂיto the works ofיְדֵיהֶם׃their hands

    And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.

17. 17

    וְאַתָּהand youתֶּאְזֹרyou will girdמׇתְנֶיךָyour loinsוְקַמְתָּand you will ariseוְדִבַּרְתָּand you will speakאֲלֵיהֶםto themאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרall thatאָנֹכִיIאֲצַוֶּךָּI will command youאַל־תֵּחַתbe not dismayedמִפְּנֵיהֶםfrom before themפֶּן־אֲחִתְּךָlest I dismay youלִפְנֵיהֶם׃before them

    Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

18. 18

    וַאֲנִיand IהִנֵּהbeholdנְתַתִּיךָI have made youהַיּוֹםthe dayלְעִירinto a city ofמִבְצָרfortificationוּלְעַמּוּדand into a pillar ofבַּרְזֶלironוּלְחֹמוֹתand into walls ofנְחֹשֶׁתbrassעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץagainst all the landלְמַלְכֵיto the kings ofיְהוּדָהJudahלְשָׂרֶיהָto its officialsלְכֹהֲנֶיהָto its priestsוּלְעַםand the people ofהָאָרֶץ׃the land

    For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.

19. 19

    וְנִלְחֲמוּand they will fightאֵלֶיךָagainst youוְלֹא־יוּכְלוּand they shall not prevailלָךְagainst youכִּי־אִתְּךָbecause with youאֲנִיIנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDלְהַצִּילֶךָ׃to deliver you

    And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.
