Isaiah 13 יְשַׁעְיָהוּ פרק י״ג

1. 1

   מַשָּׂאthe-burden-ofבָּבֶלBabylonאֲשֶׁרwhichחָזָהsawיְשַׁעְיָהוּIsaiahבֶּן־אָמוֹץ׃son-of-Amoz

   The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

2. 2

   עַלuponהַר־נִשְׁפֶּהa-high-mountainשְׂאוּ־נֵסlift-up-a-bannerהָרִימוּexaltקוֹלthe-voice-ofלָהֶםto-themהָנִיפוּwaveיָדthe-handוְיָבֹאוּthat-they-may-goפִּתְחֵיinto-the-gates-ofנְדִיבִים׃the-nobles

   Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

   אֲנִיIצִוֵּיתִיI-have-commandedלִמְקֻדָּשָׁיMy-sanctified-onesגַּםalsoקָרָאתִיI-have-calledגִבּוֹרַיMy-warriorsלְאַפִּיfor-My-angerעַלִּיזֵיMy-proudly-exalting-onesגַּאֲוָתִי׃My-pride

   I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

   קוֹלthe-noise-ofהָמוֹןa-multitudeבֶּהָרִיםin-the-mountainsדְּמוּתlike-as-ofעַם־רָבa-great-peopleקוֹלthe-noise-ofשְׁאוֹןa-tumultuous-noise-ofמַמְלְכוֹתthe-kingdoms-ofגּוֹיִםnationsנֶאֱסָפִיםgathered-togetherיְהֹוָהthe-LORDצְבָאוֹתof-Hostsמְפַקֵּדmustersצְבָאan-army-ofמִלְחָמָה׃war

   The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

   בָּאִיםcomeמֵאֶרֶץfromמֶרְחָקa-far-countryמִקְצֵהfrom-the-end-ofהַשָּׁמָיִםthe-heavensיְהֹוָהthe-LORDוּכְלֵיand-weapons-ofזַעְמוֹHis-indignationלְחַבֵּלto-destroyכׇּל־הָאָרֶץ׃the-whole-land

   They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

6. 6

   הֵילִילוּhowlכִּיforקָרוֹבis-at-handיוֹםthe-day-ofיְהֹוָהthe-LORDכְּשֹׁדas-a-destructionמִשַּׁדַּיfrom-the-Almightyיָבוֹא׃shall-come

   Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

7. 7

   עַל־כֵּןthereforeכׇּל־יָדַיִםall-handsתִּרְפֶּינָהshall-be-slackוְכׇל־לְבַבand-every-heart-ofאֱנוֹשׁmanיִמָּס׃shall-melt

   Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

8. 8

   וְנִבְהָלוּand-they-shall-be-afraidצִירִיםpangsוַחֲבָלִיםand-sorrowsיֹאחֵזוּןshall-take-hold-of-themכַּיּוֹלֵדָהas-the-woman-in-travailיְחִילוּןthey-shall-be-in-painאִישׁoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּat-anotherיִתְמָהוּthey-shall-be-amazedפְּנֵיfaces-ofלְהָבִיםflamesפְּנֵיהֶם׃their-faces

   And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

9. 9

   הִנֵּהbeholdיוֹם־יְהֹוָהthe-day-of-the-LORDבָּאcomesאַכְזָרִיa-day-of-crueltyוְעֶבְרָהand-wrathוַחֲרוֹןand-fierceאָףangerלָשׂוּםto-putהָאָרֶץthe-earthלְשַׁמָּהdesolateוְחַטָּאֶיהָand-its-sinnersיַשְׁמִידHe-shall-destroyמִמֶּנָּה׃from-it

   Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

10. 10

    כִּי־כוֹכְבֵיfor-the-stars-ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe-heavensוּכְסִילֵיהֶםand-its-constellationsלֹאnotיָהֵלּוּshall-giveאוֹרָםtheir-lightחָשַׁךְshall-be-darkenedהַשֶּׁמֶשׁthe-sunבְּצֵאתוֹin-his-going-forthוְיָרֵחַand-the-moonלֹא־יַגִּיהַּshall-not-shedאוֹרוֹ׃her-light

    For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

11. 11

    וּפָקַדְתִּיand-I-will-punishעַל־תֵּבֵלupon-the-worldרָעָהfor-their-evilוְעַל־רְשָׁעִיםand-upon-the-wickedעֲוֺנָםtheir-iniquityוְהִשְׁבַּתִּיand-I-will-cause-to-ceaseגְּאוֹןthe-arrogancy-ofזֵדִיםthe-proudוְגַאֲוַתand-the-haughtiness-ofעָרִיצִיםthe-tyrantsאַשְׁפִּיל׃I-will-lay-low

    And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

12. 12

    אוֹקִירI-will-make-more-rareאֱנוֹשׁmenמִפָּזthan-fine-goldוְאָדָםand-mankindמִכֶּתֶםthan-the-pure-gold-ofאוֹפִיר׃Ophir

    I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

13. 13

    עַל־כֵּןthereforeשָׁמַיִםthe-heavensאַרְגִּיזI-will-shakeוְתִרְעַשׁand-shall-removeהָאָרֶץthe-earthמִמְּקוֹמָהּout-of-her-placeבְּעֶבְרַתby-the-wrath-ofיְהֹוָהthe-LORDצְבָאוֹתof-Hostsוּבְיוֹםand-in-the-day-ofחֲרוֹןfierceאַפּוֹ׃His-anger

    Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

14. 14

    וְהָיָהand-beכִּצְבִיlike-a-gazelleמֻדָּחoutcastוּכְצֹאןand-as-sheepוְאֵיןand-there-is-noמְקַבֵּץthat-takes-upאִישׁevery-manאֶל־עַמּוֹunto-his-peopleיִפְנוּthey-shall-turnוְאִישׁand-every-oneאֶל־אַרְצוֹinto-his-own-landיָנוּסוּ׃they-shall-flee

    And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

15. 15

    כׇּל־הַנִּמְצָאevery-one-that-is-foundיִדָּקֵרshall-be-thrust-throughוְכׇל־הַנִּסְפֶּהand-every-one-that-is-caughtיִפּוֹלshall-fallבֶּחָרֶב׃by-the-sword

    Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

16. 16

    וְעֹלְלֵיהֶםtheir-children-alsoיְרֻטְּשׁוּshall-be-dashed-to-piecesלְעֵינֵיהֶםbefore-their-eyesיִשַּׁסּוּshall-be-spoiledבָּתֵּיהֶםtheir-housesוּנְשֵׁיהֶםand-their-wives[תִּשָּׁכַבְנָה]׃shall-be-ravished

    Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

17. 17

    הִנְנִיbehold-IמֵעִירI-will-stir-upעֲלֵיהֶםupon-themאֶת־מָדָיthe-Medesאֲשֶׁר־כֶּסֶףwho-silverלֹאnotיַחְשֹׁבוּshall-they-regardוְזָהָבand-as-for-goldלֹאnotיַחְפְּצוּ־בוֹ׃shall-they-delight-in-it

    Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

18. 18

    וּקְשָׁתוֹתand-their-bowsנְעָרִיםthe-young-menתְּרַטַּשְׁנָהshall-dash-to-piecesוּפְרִי־בֶטֶןand-the-fruit-of-the-wombלֹאnotיְרַחֵמוּshall-they-have-pityעַל־בָּנִיםchildrenלֹא־תָחוּסshall-not-spareעֵינָם׃their-eye

    Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

19. 19

    וְהָיְתָהand-it-beבָבֶלBabylonצְבִיthe-glory-ofמַמְלָכוֹתkingdomsתִּפְאֶרֶתthe-beauty-ofגְּאוֹןthe-pride-ofכַּשְׂדִּיםChaldeansכְּמַהְפֵּכַתas-when-overthrewאֱלֹהִיםGodאֶת־סְדֹםSodomוְאֶת־עֲמֹרָה׃and-Gomorrah

    And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

20. 20

    לֹא־תֵשֵׁבit-shall-never-be-inhabitedלָנֶצַחforeverוְלֹאand-notתִשְׁכֹּןbe-dwelt-inעַד־דּוֹרfrom-generationוָדוֹרto-generationוְלֹא־יַהֵלneither-shall-pitch-tentשָׁםthereעֲרָבִיthe-Arabianוְרֹעִיםand-the-shepherdsלֹא־יַרְבִּצוּshall-not-make-lie-downשָׁם׃there

    It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

21. 21

    וְרָבְצוּ־שָׁםbut-shall-lie-thereצִיִּיםwild-beasts-of-the-desertוּמָלְאוּand-shall-be-fullבָתֵּיהֶםtheir-housesאֹחִיםof-owlsוְשָׁכְנוּand-shall-dwellשָׁםthereבְּנוֹתthe-daughters-ofיַעֲנָהthe-ostrichוּשְׂעִירִיםand-satyrsיְרַקְּדוּ־שָׁם׃shall-dance-there

    But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

22. 22

    וְעָנָהand-shall-cryאִיִּיםjackalsבְּאַלְמְנוֹתָיוin-their-castlesוְתַנִּיםand-wild-dogsבְּהֵיכְלֵיin-the-palaces-ofעֹנֶגpleasureוְקָרוֹבand-is-near-at-handלָבוֹאto-comeעִתָּהּher-timeוְיָמֶיהָand-her-daysלֹאnotיִמָּשֵׁכוּ׃be-prolonged

    And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
