   The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

   עַלaluponהַר־נִשְׁפֶּהhar-nish/PEa-high-mountainשְׂאוּ־נֵסse/U-neslift-up-a-bannerהָרִימוּha/RI/muraiseקוֹלkola-voiceלָהֶםla/HEMto-themהָנִיפוּha/NI/fuwaveיָדyadthe-handוְיָבֹאוּve/ya/VO/uand-let-them-enterפִּתְחֵיpit/CHEthe-entrances-ofנְדִיבִים׃ne/di/VIMthe-nobles

   Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

   I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

   קוֹלkolthe-noise-ofהָמוֹןha/MONa-multitudeבֶּהָרִיםbe/ha/RIMin-the-mountainsדְּמוּתde/MUTthe-likeness-ofעַם־רָבam-rava-great-peopleקוֹלkolthe-noise-ofשְׁאוֹןshe/ONthe-tumult-ofמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe-kingdoms-ofגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsנֶאֱסָפִיםne/e/sa/FIMgathered-togetherיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof-Hostsמְפַקֵּדme/fak/KEDmustersצְבָאtse/VAan-army-ofמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAwar

   The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

   בָּאִיםba/IMcomingמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom-a-land-ofמֶרְחָקmer/CHAKdistanceמִקְצֵהmik/TSEfrom-the-end-ofהַשָּׁמָיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe-heavensיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand-weapons-ofזַעְמוֹza/MOHis-indignationלְחַבֵּלle/chab/BELto-destroyכׇּל־הָאָרֶץ׃kol-ha/A/retsthe-whole-land

   They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

   הֵילִילוּhe/LI/luhowlכִּיkiforקָרוֹבka/ROVnearיוֹםyomthe-day-ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDכְּשֹׁדke/SHODas-devastationמִשַּׁדַּיmish/Shad/DAYfrom-the-Almightyיָבוֹא׃ya/VOit-shall-come

   Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeכׇּל־יָדַיִםkol-ya/DA/yimall-handsתִּרְפֶּינָהtir/PE/nashall-be-slackוְכׇל־לְבַבve/KHOL-le/VAVand-every-heart-ofאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHmanיִמָּס׃yim/MASshall-melt

   Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

   וְנִבְהָלוּve/niv/HA/luand-they-shall-be-afraidצִירִיםtsi/RIMpangsוַחֲבָלִיםva/cha/va/LIMand-sorrowsיֹאחֵזוּןyo/che/ZUNshall-seizeכַּיּוֹלֵדָהkay/yo/le/DAas-the-woman-in-travailיְחִילוּןye/chi/LUNthey-shall-be-in-painאִישׁishoneאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huat-his-neighborיִתְמָהוּyit/MA/huthey-shall-be-amazedפְּנֵיpe/NEfaces-ofלְהָבִיםle/ha/VIMflamesפְּנֵיהֶם׃pe/ne/HEMtheir-faces

   And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיוֹם־יְהֹוָהyom-Adonaithe-day-of-the-LORDבָּאbacomesאַכְזָרִיakh/za/RIcruelוְעֶבְרָהve/ev/RAand-wrathוַחֲרוֹןva/cha/RONand-the-burning-ofאָףafangerלָשׂוּםla/SUMto-makeהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe-landלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAfor-a-desolationוְחַטָּאֶיהָve/chat/ta/E/haand-its-sinnersיַשְׁמִידyash/MIDHe-shall-destroyמִמֶּנָּה׃mim/MEN/nafrom-it

   Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

    כִּי־כוֹכְבֵיki-khokh/VEfor-the-stars-ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe-heavensוּכְסִילֵיהֶםu/khe/si/le/HEMand-their-constellationsלֹאlonotיָהֵלּוּya/HEL/lushall-shineאוֹרָםo/RAMtheir-lightחָשַׁךְcha/SHAKHshall-be-darkenedהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe-sunבְּצֵאתוֹbe/tse/TOin-his-going-forthוְיָרֵחַve/ya/RE/achand-the-moonלֹא־יַגִּיהַּlo-yag/GI/ahshall-not-shineאוֹרוֹ׃o/ROhis-light

    For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

    וּפָקַדְתִּיu/fa/kad/TIand-I-will-punishעַל־תֵּבֵלal-te/VELupon-the-worldרָעָהra/Aevilוְעַל־רְשָׁעִיםve/AL-re/sha/IMand-upon-the-wickedעֲוֺנָםa/vo/NAMtheir-iniquityוְהִשְׁבַּתִּיve/hish/bat/TIand-I-will-cause-to-ceaseגְּאוֹןge/ONthe-pride-ofזֵדִיםze/DIMthe-proudוְגַאֲוַתve/ga/a/VATand-the-haughtiness-ofעָרִיצִיםa/ri/TSIMthe-tyrantsאַשְׁפִּיל׃ash/PILI-will-lay-low

    And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

    אוֹקִירo/KIRI-will-make-rareאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHmanמִפָּזmip/PAZthan-fine-goldוְאָדָםve/a/DAMand-manמִכֶּתֶםmik/KE/temthan-the-pure-gold-ofאוֹפִיר׃O/FIROphir

    I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe-heavensאַרְגִּיזar/GIZI-will-shakeוְתִרְעַשׁve/tir/ASHand-shall-quakeהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe-earthמִמְּקוֹמָהּmim/me/ko/MAout-of-her-placeבְּעֶבְרַתbe/ev/RATby-the-wrath-ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe-LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof-Hostsוּבְיוֹםu/ve/YOMand-in-the-day-ofחֲרוֹןcha/RONthe-burning-ofאַפּוֹ׃ap/POHis-anger

    Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand-it-shall-beכִּצְבִיkits/VIlike-a-gazelleמֻדָּחmud/DACHchasedוּכְצֹאןu/khe/TSONand-as-sheepוְאֵיןve/ENand-there-is-noמְקַבֵּץme/kab/BETSgatheringאִישׁishevery-manאֶל־עַמּוֹel-am/MOunto-his-peopleיִפְנוּyif/NUthey-shall-turnוְאִישׁve/ISHand-every-oneאֶל־אַרְצוֹel-ar/TSOto-his-landיָנוּסוּ׃ya/NU/suthey-shall-flee

    And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

    כׇּל־הַנִּמְצָאkol-han/nim/TSAevery-one-that-is-foundיִדָּקֵרyid/da/KERshall-be-thrust-throughוְכׇל־הַנִּסְפֶּהve/KHOL-han/nis/PEand-every-one-that-is-caughtיִפּוֹלyip/POLshall-fallבֶּחָרֶב׃be/CHA/revby-the-sword

    Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

16. 16

    וְעֹלְלֵיהֶםve/ol/le/HEMand-their-infantsיְרֻטְּשׁוּye/rut/te/SHUshall-be-dashed-to-piecesלְעֵינֵיהֶםle/e/ne/HEMbefore-their-eyesיִשַּׁסּוּyish/SHAS/sushall-be-spoiledבָּתֵּיהֶםbat/te/HEMtheir-housesוּנְשֵׁיהֶםu/ne/she/HEMand-their-wives[תִּשָּׁכַבְנָה]׃tish/sha/KHAV/nashall-be-ravished

    Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

    הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold-Iמֵעִירme/IRstirring-upעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst-themאֶת־מָדָיet-Ma/DAYthe-Medesאֲשֶׁר־כֶּסֶףa/SHER-KE/sefwho-silverלֹאlonotיַחְשֹׁבוּyach/SHO/vushall-they-regardוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand-goldלֹאlonotיַחְפְּצוּ־בוֹ׃yach/pe/TSU-voshall-they-delight-in-it

    Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

    וּקְשָׁתוֹתu/ke/sha/TOTand-bowsנְעָרִיםne/a/RIMthe-young-menתְּרַטַּשְׁנָהte/rat/TASH/nashall-dash-to-piecesוּפְרִי־בֶטֶןu/fe/RI-VE/tenand-the-fruit-of-the-wombלֹאlonotיְרַחֵמוּye/ra/CHE/mushall-they-have-pityעַל־בָּנִיםal-ba/NIMupon-childrenלֹא־תָחוּסlo-ta/CHUSshall-not-spareעֵינָם׃e/NAMtheir-eye

    Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.

19. 19

    וְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand-shall-beבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonצְבִיtse/VIthe-glory-ofמַמְלָכוֹתmam/la/KHOTkingdomsתִּפְאֶרֶתtif/E/retthe-splendor-ofגְּאוֹןge/ONthe-pride-ofכַּשְׂדִּיםKas/DIMChaldeansכְּמַהְפֵּכַתke/mah/pe/KHATas-the-overthrow-ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־סְדֹםet-Se/DOMSodomוְאֶת־עֲמֹרָה׃ve/ET-a/mo/RAand-Gomorrah

    And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

20. 20

    לֹא־תֵשֵׁבlo-te/SHEVit-shall-not-be-inhabitedלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverוְלֹאve/LOand-notתִשְׁכֹּןtish/KONbe-dwelt-inעַד־דּוֹרad-dorunto-generationוָדוֹרva/DORand-generationוְלֹא־יַהֵלve/LO-ya/HELneither-shall-pitch-tentשָׁםshamthereעֲרָבִיA/ra/VIthe-Arabianוְרֹעִיםve/ro/IMand-the-shepherdsלֹא־יַרְבִּצוּlo-yar/BI/tsushall-not-make-lie-downשָׁם׃shamthere

    It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

21. 21

    וְרָבְצוּ־שָׁםve/ra/ve/TSU-shamand-shall-lie-down-thereצִיִּיםtsiy/YIMwild-beasts-of-the-desertוּמָלְאוּu/ma/le/Uand-shall-be-fullבָתֵּיהֶםvat/te/HEMtheir-housesאֹחִיםo/CHIMowlsוְשָׁכְנוּve/sha/khe/NUand-shall-dwellשָׁםshamthereבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe-daughters-ofיַעֲנָהya/a/NAthe-ostrichוּשְׂעִירִיםu/se/i/RIMand-satyrsיְרַקְּדוּ־שָׁם׃ye/rak/ke/DU-shamshall-dance-there

    But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

    וְעָנָהve/a/NAand-shall-cryאִיִּיםiy/YIMhowling-creaturesבְּאַלְמְנוֹתָיוbe/al/me/no/TAYVin-his-castlesוְתַנִּיםve/tan/NIMand-jackalsבְּהֵיכְלֵיbe/HE/khe/lein-the-palaces-ofעֹנֶגO/negpleasureוְקָרוֹבve/ka/ROVand-nearלָבוֹאla/VOto-comeעִתָּהּit/TAher-timeוְיָמֶיהָve/ya/ME/haand-her-daysלֹאlonotיִמָּשֵׁכוּ׃yim/ma/SHE/khube-prolonged

    And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
