    וְהָיָהyetמִסְפַּרthe number ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלthe children of Israelכְּחוֹלas sand ofהַיָּםthe seaאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יִמַּדcannot be measuredוְלֹאand notיִסָּפֵרit will be countedוְהָיָהand beבִּמְקוֹםat the place ofאֲשֶׁר־יֵאָמֵרwhich it is saidלָהֶםto themלֹא־עַמִּיnot my peopleאַתֶּםyou areיֵאָמֵרit is saidלָהֶםto themבְּנֵיthe sons ofאֵל־חָי׃the living God

    Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

    וְנִקְבְּצוּthat shall be gathered togetherבְּנֵי־יְהוּדָהsons of Judahוּבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלand sons of Israelיַחְדָּוtogetherוְשָׂמוּand they shall appointלָהֶםto themרֹאשׁheadאֶחָדoneוְעָלוּand they will go upמִן־הָאָרֶץfrom the landכִּיforגָדוֹלgreatיוֹםdayיִזְרְעֶאל׃Jezreel

    Then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.

    אִמְרוּsayלַאֲחֵיכֶםto your brethrenעַמִּיAmmiוְלַאֲחוֹתֵיכֶםand to your sistersרֻחָמָה׃Ruhamah

    Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ru-hamah.

    רִיבוּpleadבְאִמְּכֶםwith your motherרִיבוּpleadכִּי־הִיאbecause sheלֹאnotאִשְׁתִּיmy wifeוְאָנֹכִיyet Iלֹאnotאִישָׁהּher husbandוְתָסֵרand let her removeזְנוּנֶיהָher prostitutionמִפָּנֶיהָfrom before herוְנַאֲפוּפֶיהָand her adulteriesמִבֵּיןfrom betweenשָׁדֶיהָ׃her breasts

    Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;

    פֶּן־אַפְשִׁיטֶנָּהlest I should strip herעֲרֻמָּהnakedוְהִצַּגְתִּיהָand I will set herכְּיוֹםas the day ofהִוָּלְדָהּshe was bornוְשַׂמְתִּיהָand I will make herכַמִּדְבָּרlike the wildernessוְשַׁתִּהָand I will make herכְּאֶרֶץlike the land ofצִיָּהdryוַהֲמִתִּיהָand I will slay herבַּצָּמָא׃by the thirst

    Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

    וְאֶת־בָּנֶיהָand her sonsלֹאnotאֲרַחֵםI will have compassionכִּי־בְנֵיbecause sons ofזְנוּנִיםharlotryהֵמָּה׃they

    And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.

  7. 7

    כִּיbecauseזָנְתָהshe has acted as a prostituteאִמָּםtheir motherהֹבִישָׁהhas done shamefullyהוֹרָתָםthe one who conceived themכִּיbecauseאָמְרָהsaidאֵלְכָהI will goאַחֲרֵיafterמְאַהֲבַיmy loversנֹתְנֵיwho giveלַחְמִיmy breadוּמֵימַיand my waterצַמְרִיmy woolוּפִשְׁתִּיand my flaxשַׁמְנִיmy oilוְשִׁקּוּיָי׃and my drinks

    For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink.

    לָכֵןthereforeהִנְנִי־שָׂךְbehold I am about to fence upאֶת־דַּרְכֵּךְyour wayבַּסִּירִיםwith the thornsוְגָדַרְתִּיand I will wall upאֶת־גְּדֵרָהּher wallוּנְתִיבוֹתֶיהָand her pathsלֹאnotתִמְצָא׃she shall find

    Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths.

    וְרִדְּפָהand she will pursueאֶת־מְאַהֲבֶיהָher loversוְלֹא־תַשִּׂיגand she shall not overtakeאֹתָםthemוּבִקְשָׁתַםand she will seek themוְלֹאand notתִמְצָאshe shall findוְאָמְרָהand she will sayאֵלְכָהI will goוְאָשׁוּבָהand I shall returnאֶל־אִישִׁיto my husbandהָרִאשׁוֹןthe firstכִּיforטוֹבgoodלִיto meאָזthenמֵעָתָּה׃more than now

    And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now.

    וְהִיאand sheלֹאnotיָדְעָהshe had knownכִּיbecauseאָנֹכִיIנָתַתִּיI gaveלָהּto herהַדָּגָןthe grainוְהַתִּירוֹשׁand the new wineוְהַיִּצְהָרand the fresh oilוְכֶסֶףand silverהִרְבֵּיתִיI multipliedלָהּto herוְזָהָבand goldעָשׂוּthey preparedלַבָּעַל׃for Baal

    For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

  11. 11

    לָכֵןthereforeאָשׁוּבI returnוְלָקַחְתִּיand I will takeדְגָנִיmy grainבְּעִתּוֹin its timeוְתִירוֹשִׁיand my new wineבְּמוֹעֲדוֹat its appointed timeוְהִצַּלְתִּיand I will deliverצַמְרִיmy woolוּפִשְׁתִּיand my flaxלְכַסּוֹתto coverאֶת־עֶרְוָתָהּ׃her nakedness

    Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness.

    וְעַתָּהand nowאֲגַלֶּהI will revealאֶת־נַבְלֻתָהּher lewdnessלְעֵינֵיin the eyes ofמְאַהֲבֶיהָher loversוְאִישׁand a manלֹא־יַצִּילֶנָּהnot he will deliver herמִיָּדִי׃at my hand

    And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand.

  13. 13

    וְהִשְׁבַּתִּיand I will cause to ceaseכׇּל־מְשׂוֹשָׂהּall her gaietyחַגָּהּher festivalsחׇדְשָׁהּher new moonsוְשַׁבַּתָּהּand her sabbathsוְכֹלand allמוֹעֲדָהּ׃her appointed feast

    I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.

    וַהֲשִׁמֹּתִיand I will devastateגַּפְנָהּher vinesוּתְאֵנָתָהּand her fig treesאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמְרָהsaidאֶתְנָהmy rewardsהֵמָּהtheyלִיto meאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתְנוּ־לִיthey gave to meמְאַהֲבָיmy loversוְשַׂמְתִּיםand I will make themלְיַעַרto the forest ofוַאֲכָלָתַםand it will consume themחַיַּתbeasts ofהַשָּׂדֶה׃the field

    And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them.

    וּפָקַדְתִּיand I will visitעָלֶיהָupon herאֶת־יְמֵיthe days ofהַבְּעָלִיםthe Baalimאֲשֶׁרwhichתַּקְטִירshe burned incenseלָהֶםto themוַתַּעַדand she ornamented herselfנִזְמָהּher earringsוְחֶלְיָתָהּand her jewelryוַתֵּלֶךְand she wentאַחֲרֵיafterמְאַהֲבֶיהָher loversוְאֹתִיand meשָׁכְחָהshe forgotנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD.

  16. 16

    לָכֵןthereforeהִנֵּהbeholdאָנֹכִיIמְפַתֶּיהָabout to allure herוְהֹלַכְתִּיהָand I will lead herהַמִּדְבָּרto the wildernessוְדִבַּרְתִּיand I shall also speakעַל־לִבָּהּ׃upon her heart

    Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

  17. 17

    וְנָתַתִּיand I will giveלָהּto herאֶת־כְּרָמֶיהָher vineyardsמִשָּׁםfrom thereוְאֶת־עֵמֶקand the valley ofעָכוֹרAchorלְפֶתַחfor the entrance ofתִּקְוָהhopeוְעָנְתָהand she shall singשָּׁמָּהthereכִּימֵיas days ofנְעוּרֶיהָher youthוּכְיוֹםand like the day ofעֲלוֹתָהּher ascendingמֵאֶרֶץ־מִצְרָיִם׃from the land of Egypt

    And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

  18. 18

    וְהָיָהand beבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאin that dayנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDתִּקְרְאִיyou will callאִישִׁיIshiוְלֹא־תִקְרְאִי־לִיand not you will call to meעוֹדany moreבַּעְלִי׃Baali

    And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali.

  19. 19

    וַהֲסִרֹתִיand I will removeאֶת־שְׁמוֹתthe names ofהַבְּעָלִיםthe Baalimמִפִּיהָfrom her mouthוְלֹא־יִזָּכְרוּand not rememberedעוֹדany moreבִּשְׁמָם׃by their name

    For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name.

  20. 20

    וְכָרַתִּיand I will cutלָהֶםto themבְּרִיתcovenant ofבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatעִם־חַיַּתwith the beasts ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldוְעִם־עוֹףand with birdsהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְרֶמֶשׂand the creeping things ofהָאֲדָמָהthe groundוְקֶשֶׁתand bowוְחֶרֶבand swordוּמִלְחָמָהand warאֶשְׁבּוֹרI will breakמִן־הָאָרֶץfrom the landוְהִשְׁכַּבְתִּיםand I will make lie down themלָבֶטַח׃in safety

    And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.

  21. 21

    וְאֵרַשְׂתִּיךְand I will betroth youלִיto meלְעוֹלָםforeverוְאֵרַשְׂתִּיךְand I will betroth youלִיto meבְּצֶדֶקwith righteousnessוּבְמִשְׁפָּטand in justiceוּבְחֶסֶדand in lovingkindnessוּבְרַחֲמִים׃and in mercy

    And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.

  22. 22

    וְאֵרַשְׂתִּיךְand I will betroth youלִיto meבֶּאֱמוּנָהin faithfulnessוְיָדַעַתְּand you shall knowאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

  23. 23

    וְהָיָהand beבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatאֶעֱנֶהI will hearנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDאֶעֱנֶהI will hearאֶת־הַשָּׁמָיִםthe heavensוְהֵםand theyיַעֲנוּshall hearאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃the earth

    And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth;

  24. 24

    וְהָאָרֶץand the landתַּעֲנֶהshall hearאֶת־הַדָּגָןthe grainוְאֶת־הַתִּירוֹשׁand the new wineוְאֶת־הַיִּצְהָרand the fresh oilוְהֵםand theyיַעֲנוּshall hearאֶת־יִזְרְעֶאל׃Jezreel

    And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.

  25. 25

    וּזְרַעְתִּיהָand I will sow herלִּיto meבָּאָרֶץin the earthוְרִחַמְתִּיand I will have compassion onאֶת־לֹאLo-רֻחָמָהruhamahוְאָמַרְתִּיand I will sayלְלֹא־עַמִּיto Lo-ammiעַמִּי־אַתָּהmy people youוְהוּאand heיֹאמַרhe saysאֱלֹהָי׃my God

    And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
