Hosea 10 הוֹשֵׁעַ פרק י׳

   גֶּפֶןGE/fena vineבּוֹקֵקbo/KEKemptyיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelפְּרִיpe/RIfruitיְשַׁוֶּה־לּוֹye/shav/VE-lohe brings forth for himselfכְּרֹבke/ROVaccording to the multitude ofלְפִרְיוֹle/fir/YOof his fruitהִרְבָּהhir/BAhe has multipliedלַמִּזְבְּחוֹתlam/miz/be/CHOTaltarsכְּטוֹבke/TOVaccording to the goodness ofלְאַרְצוֹle/ar/TSOhis landהֵיטִיבוּhe/TI/vuthey have made goodlyמַצֵּבוֹת׃mats/tse/VOTpillars

   Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.

   חָלַקcha/LAKis dividedלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartעַתָּהat/TAnowיֶאְשָׁמוּye/SHA/mushall they be found guiltyהוּאhuHeיַעֲרֹףya/a/ROFhe shall break downמִזְבְּחוֹתָםmiz/be/cho/TAMtheir altarsיְשֹׁדֵדye/sho/DEDshall spoilמַצֵּבוֹתָם׃mats/tse/vo/TAMtheir pillars

   Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.

   כִּיkiforעַתָּהat/TAnowיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUthey shall sayאֵיןennoמֶלֶךְME/lekhkingלָנוּLA/nuto usכִּיkiforלֹאlonotיָרֵאנוּya/RE/nuwe fearedאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוְהַמֶּלֶךְve/ham/ME/lekhand the kingמַה־יַּעֲשֶׂה־לָּנוּ׃ma-ya/a/SE-LA/nuwhat should he do for us

   For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?

   דִּבְּרוּdib/be/RUthey have spokenדְבָרִיםde/va/RIMwordsאָלוֹתa/LOToaths ofשָׁוְאshavfalsehoodכָּרֹתka/ROTmakingבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantוּפָרַחu/fa/RACHthus springs upכָּרֹאשׁka/ROSHas hemlockמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentעַלalinתַּלְמֵיtal/MEthe furrows ofשָׂדָי׃sa/DAYthe field

   They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

   לְעֶגְלוֹתle/eg/LOTbecause of the calves ofבֵּיתBetBeth-אָוֶןA/venavenיָגוּרוּya/GU/rushall fearשְׁכַןshe/KHANthe inhabitants ofשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONSamariaכִּי־אָבַלki-a/VALfor shall mournעָלָיוa/LAYVover itעַמּוֹam/MOits peopleוּכְמָרָיוu/khe/ma/RAYVand its idol priestsעָלָיוa/LAYVover itיָגִילוּya/GI/luthat rejoicedעַל־כְּבוֹדוֹal-ke/vo/DOfor its gloryכִּי־גָלָהki-ga/LAbecause it is departedמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nufrom it

   The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

   גַּם־אוֹתוֹgam-o/TOit alsoלְאַשּׁוּרle/Ash/SHURto Assyriaיוּבָלyu/VALit shall be carriedמִנְחָהmin/CHAfor a presentלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto kingיָרֵבYa/REVJarebבׇּשְׁנָהbosh/NAshameאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimיִקָּחyik/KACHshall receiveוְיֵבוֹשׁve/ye/VOSHand shall be ashamedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמֵעֲצָתוֹ׃me/a/tsa/TOof his own counsel

   It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

   נִדְמֶהnid/MEis cut offשֹׁמְרוֹןShom/RONSamariaמַלְכָּהּmal/KAher kingכְּקֶצֶףke/KE/tsefas the foamעַל־פְּנֵי־מָיִם׃al-pe/NE-MA/yimupon the face of the water

   As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.

8. 8

   וְנִשְׁמְדוּve/nish/me/DUand shall be destroyedבָּמוֹתba/MOTthe high places ofאָוֶןA/venAvenחַטַּאתchat/TATthe sin ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelקוֹץkotsthe thornוְדַרְדַּרve/dar/DARand the thistleיַעֲלֶהya/a/LEshall come upעַל־מִזְבְּחוֹתָםal-miz/be/cho/TAMupon their altarsוְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand they shall sayלֶהָרִיםle/ha/RIMto the mountainsכַּסּוּנוּkas/SU/nucover usוְלַגְּבָעוֹתve/lag/ge/va/OTand to the hillsנִפְלוּnif/LUfallעָלֵינוּ׃a/LE/nuon us

   The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

   מִימֵיMI/mefrom the days ofהַגִּבְעָהHag/giv/AGibeahחָטָאתָcha/TA/tayou have sinnedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELO Israelשָׁםshamthereעָמָדוּa/MA/duthey stoodלֹא־תַשִּׂיגֵםlo-tas/si/GEMdid not overtake themבַּגִּבְעָהbag/Giv/Ain Gibeahמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarעַל־בְּנֵיal-be/NEagainst the children ofעַלְוָה׃al/VAiniquity

   O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah: there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the children of iniquity did not overtake them.

    בְּאַוָּתִיbe/av/va/TIin my desireוְאֶסֳּרֵםve/es/so/REMand I will chastise themוְאֻסְּפוּve/us/se/FUand shall be gatheredעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themעַמִּיםam/MIMthe peoplesבְּאׇסְרָםbe/os/RAMwhen they bind themselvesלִשְׁתֵּיlish/TEin their two[עוֹנֹתָם]׃o/no/TAMtheir furrows

    It is in my desire that I should chastise them; and the people shall be gathered against them, when they shall bind themselves in their two furrows.

    וְאֶפְרַיִםve/Ef/RA/yimand Ephraimעֶגְלָהeg/LAis a heiferמְלֻמָּדָהme/lum/ma/DAtaughtאֹהַבְתִּיo/HAV/tithat lovesלָדוּשׁla/DUSHto threshוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iעָבַרְתִּיa/VAR/tipassed overעַל־טוּבal-tuvupon the fairness ofצַוָּארָהּtsav/va/RAher neckאַרְכִּיבar/KIVI will make to rideאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimיַחֲרוֹשׁya/cha/ROSHshall plowיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahיְשַׂדֶּד־לוֹye/sad/DED-loshall break his clodsיַעֲקֹב׃Ya/a/KOVJacob

    And Ephraim is as an heifer that is taught, and loveth to tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.

12. 12

    זִרְעוּzir/Usowלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesלִצְדָקָהlits/da/KAfor righteousnessקִצְרוּkits/RUreapלְפִי־חֶסֶדle/FI-CHE/sedin mercyנִירוּNI/rubreak upלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesנִירnirfallow groundוְעֵתve/ETfor it is timeלִדְרוֹשׁlid/ROSHto seekאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDעַד־יָבוֹאad-ya/VOtill He comeוְיֹרֶהve/yo/REand rainצֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteousnessלָכֶם׃la/KHEMupon you

    Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

13. 13

    חֲרַשְׁתֶּם־רֶשַׁעcha/rash/TEM-RE/shayou have plowed wickednessעַוְלָתָהav/LA/tainiquityקְצַרְתֶּםke/tsar/TEMyou have reapedאֲכַלְתֶּםa/khal/TEMyou have eatenפְּרִי־כָחַשׁpe/RI-KHA/chashthe fruit of liesכִּי־בָטַחְתָּki-va/TACH/tabecause you trustedבְדַרְכְּךָve/dar/ke/KHAin your wayבְּרֹבbe/ROVin the multitude ofגִּבּוֹרֶיךָ׃gib/bo/RE/khayour mighty men

    Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of lies: because thou didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.

14. 14

    וְקָאםve/KAMtherefore shall ariseשָׁאוֹןsha/ONa tumultבְּעַמֶּךָbe/am/ME/khaamong your peopleוְכׇל־מִבְצָרֶיךָve/KHOL-miv/tsa/RE/khaand all your fortressesיוּשַּׁדyush/SHADshall be spoiledכְּשֹׁדke/SHODas spoiledשַׁלְמַןShal/MANShalmanבֵּיתBetBeth-אַרְבֵאלar/VELarbelבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarאֵםemthe motherעַל־בָּנִיםal-ba/NIMupon her childrenרֻטָּשָׁה׃rut/TA/shawas dashed in pieces

    Therefore shall a tumult arise among thy people, and all thy fortresses shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled Beth-arbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her children.

15. 15

    כָּכָהKA/khasoעָשָׂהa/SAshall doלָכֶםla/KHEMto youבֵּית־אֵלBet-elBeth-elמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofרָעַתra/ATthe evil ofרָעַתְכֶםra/at/KHEMyour evilבַּשַּׁחַרbash/SHA/charin a morningנִדְמֹהnid/MOcut offנִדְמָהnid/MAshall be cut offמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    So shall Beth-el do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel utterly be cut off.
