    בַּשְּׁבִיעִיin the seventh monthבְּעֶשְׂרִיםon the twentyוְאֶחָדand oneלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthהָיָהwasדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDבְּיַד־חַגַּיin the hand of Haggaiהַנָּבִיאthe prophetלֵאמֹר׃saying

    In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

    אֱמׇר־נָאspeak nowאֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶלto Zerubbabelבֶּן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵלson of Shealtielפַּחַתthe governor ofיְהוּדָהJudahוְאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַand Joshuaבֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָקson of Jehozadakהַכֹּהֵןthe priestהַגָּדוֹלthe greatוְאֶל־שְׁאֵרִיתand remnant ofהָעָםthe peopleלֵאמֹר׃saying

    Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

    מִיwhoבָכֶםover youהַנִּשְׁאָרthat is leftאֲשֶׁרwhichרָאָהhe sawאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּהthisבִּכְבוֹדוֹin his gloryהָרִאשׁוֹןthe firstוּמָהand whatאַתֶּםyou areרֹאִיםdo you seeאֹתוֹhimעַתָּהnowהֲלוֹאis it notכָמֹהוּlike himכְּאַיִןas nothingבְּעֵינֵיכֶם׃in your eyes

    Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

    וְעַתָּהand nowחֲזַקbe strongזְרֻבָּבֶלZerubbabelנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוַחֲזַקand be strongיְהוֹשֻׁעַJoshuaבֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָקson of Jehozadakהַכֹּהֵןthe priestהַגָּדוֹלthe greatוַחֲזַקand be strongכׇּל־עַםall peopleהָאָרֶץthe landנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוַעֲשׂוּand doכִּי־אֲנִיthat I amאִתְּכֶםwith youנְאֻםsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

    אֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordאֲשֶׁר־כָּרַתִּיwhich I cutאִתְּכֶםwith youבְּצֵאתְכֶםwhen you came outמִמִּצְרַיִםout of Egyptוְרוּחִיand my spiritעֹמֶדֶתremainethבְּתוֹכְכֶםamong youאַל־תִּירָאוּ׃fear not

    According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

    כִּיforכֹהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsעוֹדany moreאַחַתoneמְעַטa little whileהִיאit isוַאֲנִיand Iמַרְעִישׁshakeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְאֶת־הָאָרֶץand the landוְאֶת־הַיָּםand the seaוְאֶת־הֶחָרָבָה׃and the dry ground

    For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

    וְהִרְעַשְׁתִּיand I will shakeאֶת־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםall the nationsוּבָאוּand it comesחֶמְדַּתdesirable thing ofכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםall the nationsוּמִלֵּאתִיand I will fillאֶת־הַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּהthisכָּבוֹדgloriousאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

    לִיto meהַכֶּסֶףthe silverוְלִיand mineהַזָּהָבthe goldנְאֻםsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

    גָּדוֹלgreatיִהְיֶהshall beכְּבוֹדthe glory ofהַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּהthisהָאַחֲרוֹןthe lastמִן־הָרִאשׁוֹןfrom the firstאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsוּבַמָּקוֹםand in the placeהַזֶּהthisאֶתֵּןI will giveשָׁלוֹםpeaceנְאֻםsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

    בְּעֶשְׂרִיםon the twentyוְאַרְבָּעָהand fourלַתְּשִׁיעִיof the ninth monthבִּשְׁנַתin the year ofשְׁתַּיִםtwoלְדָרְיָוֶשׁto Dariusהָיָהwasדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDאֶל־חַגַּיto Haggaiהַנָּבִיאthe prophetלֵאמֹר׃saying

    In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsשְׁאַל־נָאask I prayאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsתּוֹרָהLawלֵאמֹר׃saying

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

    הֵןbeholdיִשָּׂא־אִישׁshall bear a manבְּשַׂר־קֹדֶשׁthe flesh holyבִּכְנַףon the skirt ofבִּגְדוֹhis garmentוְנָגַעand he will touchבִּכְנָפוֹwith his skirtאֶל־הַלֶּחֶםto the breadוְאֶל־הַנָּזִידand the cooked foodוְאֶל־הַיַּיִןand the wineוְאֶל־שֶׁמֶןand oilוְאֶל־כׇּל־מַאֲכׇלand all foodהֲיִקְדָּשׁwill it become holyוַיַּעֲנוּand answeredהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsוַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidלֹא׃not

    If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidחַגַּיHaggaiאִם־יִגַּעif he will touchטְמֵא־נֶפֶשׁthing unclean of soulבְּכׇל־אֵלֶּהin all theseהֲיִטְמָאwill it become uncleanוַיַּעֲנוּand answeredהַכֹּהֲנִיםthe priestsוַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidיִטְמָא׃he shall be unclean

    Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

    וַיַּעַןand he answeredחַגַּיHaggaiוַיֹּאמֶרand saidכֵּןthusהָעָם־הַזֶּהthe this peopleוְכֵן־הַגּוֹיand so the nationהַזֶּהthisלְפָנַיbefore meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְכֵןand soכׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂהall work ofיְדֵיהֶםtheir handsוַאֲשֶׁרand whichיַקְרִיבוּthey offerשָׁםthereטָמֵאuncleanהוּא׃he

    Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

    וְעַתָּהand nowשִׂימוּ־נָאconsider I prayלְבַבְכֶםyour heartsמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom the dayהַזֶּהthisוָמָעְלָהand upwardsמִטֶּרֶםfrom beforeשׂוּם־אֶבֶןput stoneאֶל־אֶבֶןto stoneבְּהֵיכַלin the temple ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

  16. 16

    מִהְיוֹתָםsince they wereבָּאcameאֶל־עֲרֵמַתto is a heap ofעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyוְהָיְתָהand it beעֲשָׂרָהtenבָּאcameאֶל־הַיֶּקֶבto the wine vatלַחְשֹׂףto draw outחֲמִשִּׁיםfiftyפּוּרָהvessels out of the pressוְהָיְתָהand it beעֶשְׂרִים׃twenty

    Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

    הִכֵּיתִיI have smittenאֶתְכֶםyouבַּשִּׁדָּפוֹןwith the blightוּבַיֵּרָקוֹןand with the mildewוּבַבָּרָדand with the hailאֵת־כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂהall work ofיְדֵיכֶםyour handsוְאֵין־אֶתְכֶםyet you turned notאֵלַיto meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

    שִׂימוּ־נָאconsider I prayלְבַבְכֶםyour heartsמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom the dayהַזֶּהthisוָמָעְלָהand upwardsמִיּוֹםfrom the dayעֶשְׂרִיםtwentyוְאַרְבָּעָהand fourלַתְּשִׁיעִיof the ninth monthלְמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom the dayאֲשֶׁר־יֻסַּדwhich it was foundedהֵיכַל־יְהֹוָהthe temple of the LORDשִׂימוּconsiderלְבַבְכֶם׃your hearts

    Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid, consider it.

  19. 19

    הַעוֹדis yetהַזֶּרַעthe seedבַּמְּגוּרָהin the granaryוְעַד־הַגֶּפֶןand unto the vineוְהַתְּאֵנָהand the fig treeוְהָרִמּוֹןand the pomegranateוְעֵץand tree ofהַזַּיִתthe olive treeלֹאnotנָשָׂאhath brought forthמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom the dayהַזֶּהthisאֲבָרֵךְ׃I will bless

    Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

    וַיְהִיand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDשֵׁנִיתagainאֶל־חַגַּיto Haggaiבְּעֶשְׂרִיםon the twentyוְאַרְבָּעָהand fourלַחֹדֶשׁof the monthלֵאמֹר׃saying

    And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

    אֱמֹרsayאֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶלto Zerubbabelפַּחַת־יְהוּדָהthe governor of JudahלֵאמֹרsayingאֲנִיIמַרְעִישׁshakeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃and the land

    Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

  22. 22

    וְהָפַכְתִּיand I shall overturnכִּסֵּאthroneמַמְלָכוֹתof kingdomsוְהִשְׁמַדְתִּיand I will destroyחֹזֶקstrengthמַמְלְכוֹתthe kingdoms ofהַגּוֹיִםthe nationsוְהָפַכְתִּיand I shall overturnמֶרְכָּבָהa chariotוְרֹכְבֶיהָand its ridersוְיָרְדוּand they came downסוּסִיםhorsesוְרֹכְבֵיהֶםand their ridersאִישׁa manבְּחֶרֶבwith the sword ofאָחִיו׃his brother

    And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

    בַּיּוֹםin the dayהַהוּאthatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֶקָּחֲךָlet me take youזְרֻבָּבֶלZerubbabelבֶּן־שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵלson of Shealtielעַבְדִּיmy servantנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְשַׂמְתִּיךָthen I set youכַּחוֹתָםlike sealכִּי־בְךָbecause in youבָחַרְתִּיI choseנְאֻםsaysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃of Hosts

    In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
