   In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet Haggai, saying,

   אֱמׇר־נָאe/MOR-naspeak nowאֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶלel-Ze/rub/ba/VELto Zerubbabelבֶּן־שַׁלְתִּיאֵלben-Shal/ti/ELson of Shealtielפַּחַתpa/CHATthe governor ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַve/EL-ye/ho/SHU/aand to Joshuaבֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָקben-Ye/ho/tsa/DAKson of Jehozadakהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe highוְאֶל־שְׁאֵרִיתve/EL-she/e/RITand to the remnant ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

   מִיmiwhoבָכֶםva/KHEMamong youהַנִּשְׁאָרhan/nish/ARthat is leftאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatרָאָהra/Asawאֶת־הַבַּיִתet-hab/BA/yitthe houseהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבִּכְבוֹדוֹbikh/vo/DOin its gloryהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstוּמָהu/MAand whatאַתֶּםat/TEMyouרֹאִיםro/IMseeאֹתוֹo/TOitעַתָּהat/TAnowהֲלוֹאha/LOis it notכָמֹהוּkha/MO/hulike itכְּאַיִןke/A/yinas nothingבְּעֵינֵיכֶם׃be/e/ne/KHEMin your eyes

   Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowחֲזַקcha/ZAKbe strongזְרֻבָּבֶלZe/rub/ba/VELO Zerubbabelנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוַחֲזַקva/cha/ZAKand be strongיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aO Joshuaבֶּן־יְהוֹצָדָקben-Ye/ho/tsa/DAKson of Jehozadakהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe highוַחֲזַקva/cha/ZAKand be strongכׇּל־עַםkol-amall the people ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוַעֲשׂוּva/a/SUand workכִּי־אֲנִיki-a/NIfor Iאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

   Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the LORD; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the LORD, and work: for I am with you, saith the LORD of hosts:

   According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

   כִּיkiforכֹהkhothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsעוֹדodyetאַחַתa/CHATonceמְעַטme/ATa little whileהִיאhiit isוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iמַרְעִישׁmar/ISHwill shakeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםet-hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְאֶת־הָאָרֶץve/ET-ha/A/retsand the earthוְאֶת־הַיָּםve/ET-hay/YAMand the seaוְאֶת־הֶחָרָבָה׃ve/ET-he/cha/ra/VAand the dry ground

   For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

   וְהִרְעַשְׁתִּיve/hir/ASH/tiand I will shakeאֶת־כׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםet-kol-hag/go/YIMall the nationsוּבָאוּu/VA/uand shall comeחֶמְדַּתchem/DATthe desire ofכׇּל־הַגּוֹיִםkol-hag/go/YIMall the nationsוּמִלֵּאתִיu/mil/le/TIand I will fillאֶת־הַבַּיִתet-hab/BA/yitthe houseהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisכָּבוֹדka/VODwith gloryאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

   And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts.

   לִיlimineהַכֶּסֶףhak/KE/sefthe silverוְלִיve/LIand mineהַזָּהָבhaz/za/HAVthe goldנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

   The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts.

   גָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beכְּבוֹדke/VODthe glory ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe latterמִן־הָרִאשׁוֹןmin-ha/ri/SHONthan the formerאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsוּבַמָּקוֹםu/vam/ma/KOMand in the placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

   The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.

    In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet, saying,

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsשְׁאַל־נָאshe/AL-naask nowאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםet-hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsתּוֹרָהto/RAinstructionלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

    הֵןhenifיִשָּׂא־אִישׁyis/SA-isha man carriesבְּשַׂר־קֹדֶשׁbe/SAR-KO/deshholy fleshבִּכְנַףbikh/NAFon the skirt ofבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentוְנָגַעve/na/GAand touchesבִּכְנָפוֹbikh/na/FOwith his skirtאֶל־הַלֶּחֶםel-hal/LE/chemto the breadוְאֶל־הַנָּזִידve/EL-han/na/ZIDand the pottageוְאֶל־הַיַּיִןve/EL-hay/YA/yinand the wineוְאֶל־שֶׁמֶןve/EL-SHE/menand oilוְאֶל־כׇּל־מַאֲכָלve/EL-kol-ma/a/KHALand any foodהֲיִקְדָּשׁha/yik/DASHwill it become holyוַיַּעֲנוּvay/ya/a/NUand answeredהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלֹא׃lono

    If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחַגַּיChag/GAYHaggaiאִם־יִגַּעim-yig/GAif touchesטְמֵא־נֶפֶשׁte/ME-NE/feshone unclean by a corpseבְּכׇל־אֵלֶּהbe/KHOL-EL/leany of theseהֲיִטְמָאha/yit/MAwill it become uncleanוַיַּעֲנוּvay/ya/a/NUand answeredהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidיִטְמָא׃yit/MAit shall be unclean

    Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

14. 14

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredחַגַּיChag/GAYHaggaiוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidכֵּןkensoהָעָם־הַזֶּהha/AM-haz/ZEthis peopleוְכֵן־הַגּוֹיve/KHEN-hag/GOYand so the nationהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְכֵןve/KHENand soכׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂהkol-ma/a/SEevery work ofיְדֵיהֶםye/de/HEMtheir handsוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatיַקְרִיבוּyak/RI/vuthey offerשָׁםshamthereטָמֵאta/MEuncleanהוּא׃huit is

    Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

15. 15

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשִׂימוּ־נָאSI/mu-naconsider I prayלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMyour heartמִן־הַיּוֹםmin-hay/YOMfrom the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוָמָעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardsמִטֶּרֶםmit/TE/remfrom beforeשׂוּם־אֶבֶןsum-E/vena stone was laidאֶל־אֶבֶןel-E/venupon a stoneבְּהֵיכַלbe/he/KHALin the temple ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:

16. 16

    מִהְיוֹתָםmih/yo/TAMsince they wereבָּאbaone cameאֶל־עֲרֵמַתel-a/re/MATto a heap ofעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand there wereעֲשָׂרָהa/sa/RAtenבָּאbaone cameאֶל־הַיֶּקֶבel-hay/YE/kevto the winevatלַחְשֹׂףlach/SOFto draw outחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMfiftyפּוּרָהpu/RAmeasuresוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand there wereעֶשְׂרִים׃es/RIMtwenty

    Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

17. 17

    הִכֵּיתִיhik/KE/tiI smoteאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבַּשִּׁדָּפוֹןbash/shid/da/FONwith the blightוּבַיֵּרָקוֹןu/vay/ye/ra/KONand with the mildewוּבַבָּרָדu/vab/ba/RADand with the hailאֵת־כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂהet-kol-ma/a/SEall the work ofיְדֵיכֶםye/de/KHEMyour handsוְאֵין־אֶתְכֶםve/EN-et/KHEMyet there was none of youאֵלַיe/LAYto meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith the LORD.

18. 18

    שִׂימוּ־נָאSI/mu-naconsider I prayלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMyour heartמִן־הַיּוֹםmin-hay/YOMfrom the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוָמָעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardsמִיּוֹםmiy/YOMfrom the dayעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוְאַרְבָּעָהve/ar/ba/Aand fourלַתְּשִׁיעִיlat/te/shi/Iof the ninthלְמִן־הַיּוֹםle/MIN-hay/YOMfrom the dayאֲשֶׁר־יֻסַּדa/SHER-yus/SADthat was foundedהֵיכַל־יְהֹוָהhe/KHAL-Adonaithe temple of the LORDשִׂימוּSI/muconsiderלְבַבְכֶם׃le/vav/KHEMyour heart

    Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of the LORD's temple was laid, consider it.

19. 19

    הַעוֹדha/ODis yetהַזֶּרַעhaz/ZE/rathe seedבַּמְּגוּרָהbam/me/gu/RAin the granaryוְעַד־הַגֶּפֶןve/AD-hag/GE/fenand even the vineוְהַתְּאֵנָהve/hat/te/e/NAand the fig treeוְהָרִמּוֹןve/ha/rim/MONand the pomegranateוְעֵץve/ETSand the tree ofהַזַּיִתhaz/ZA/yitthe oliveלֹאlonotנָשָׂאna/SAhas borneמִן־הַיּוֹםmin-hay/YOMfrom the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲבָרֵךְ׃a/va/REKHI will bless

    Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDשֵׁנִיתshe/NITagainאֶל־חַגַּיel-Chag/GAYto Haggaiבְּעֶשְׂרִיםbe/es/RIMin the twentyוְאַרְבָּעָהve/ar/ba/Aand fourלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

    אֱמֹרe/MORspeakאֶל־זְרֻבָּבֶלel-Ze/rub/ba/VELto Zerubbabelפַּחַת־יְהוּדָהpa/CHAT-Ye/hu/DAthe governor of Judahלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲנִיa/NIIמַרְעִישׁmar/ISHwill shakeאֶת־הַשָּׁמַיִםet-hash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְאֶת־הָאָרֶץ׃ve/ET-ha/A/retsand the earth

    Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

22. 22

    וְהָפַכְתִּיve/ha/fakh/TIand I will overthrowכִּסֵּאkis/SEthe throne ofמַמְלָכוֹתmam/la/KHOTkingdomsוְהִשְׁמַדְתִּיve/hish/mad/TIand I will destroyחֹזֶקCHO/zekthe strength ofמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsוְהָפַכְתִּיve/ha/fakh/TIand I will overthrowמֶרְכָּבָהmer/ka/VAa chariotוְרֹכְבֶיהָve/rokh/VE/haand its ridersוְיָרְדוּve/ya/re/DUand shall come downסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesוְרֹכְבֵיהֶםve/rokh/ve/HEMand their ridersאִישׁishevery oneבְּחֶרֶבbe/CHE/revwith the sword ofאָחִיו׃a/CHIVhis brother

    And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDצְבָאוֹתTse/va/OTof Hostsאֶקָּחֲךָek/ka/cha/KHAI will take youזְרֻבָּבֶלZe/rub/ba/VELO Zerubbabelבֶּן־שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵלben-She/al/ti/ELson of Shealtielעַבְדִּיav/DImy servantנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְשַׂמְתִּיךָve/sam/TI/khaand I will make youכַּחוֹתָםka/cho/TAMas a signetכִּי־בְךָki-ve/KHAfor youבָחַרְתִּיva/CHAR/tiI have chosenנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹת׃Tse/va/OTof Hosts

    In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.
