   וְיוֹסֵףve/Yo/SEFand Josephהוּרַדhu/RADwas brought downמִצְרָיְמָהMits/RAY/mato Egyptוַיִּקְנֵהוּvay/yik/NE/huand he bought himפּוֹטִיפַרPo/ti/FARPotipharסְרִיסse/RISan officer ofפַּרְעֹהPar/OPharaohשַׂרsarthe captain ofהַטַּבָּחִיםhat/tab/ba/CHIMthe guardאִישׁisha manמִצְרִיMits/RIan Egyptianמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofהַיִּשְׁמְעֵאלִיםhay/Yish/me/e/LIMthe Ishmaelitesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהוֹרִדֻהוּho/ri/DU/huhad brought him downשָׁמָּה׃SHAM/mathere

   And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.

   And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterכִּיkithatיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאִתּוֹit/TOwas with himוְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁר־הוּאa/SHER-huthat heעֹשֶׂהo/SEdoesיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמַצְלִיחַmats/LI/achmade to prosperבְּיָדוֹ׃be/ya/DOin his hand

   And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.

   וַיִּמְצָאvay/yim/TSAand foundיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin his eyesוַיְשָׁרֶתvay/SHA/retand he servedאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיַּפְקִדֵהוּvay/yaf/ki/DE/huand he made him overseerעַל־בֵּיתוֹal-be/TOover his houseוְכׇל־יֶשׁ־לוֹve/KHOL-yesh-loand all that he hadנָתַןna/TANhe putבְּיָדוֹ׃be/ya/DOin his hand

   And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמֵאָזme/AZsinceהִפְקִידhif/KIDhe had made overseerאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּבֵיתוֹbe/ve/TOin his houseוְעַלve/ALand overכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohe hadוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhand blessedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofהַמִּצְרִיham/Mits/RIthe Egyptianבִּגְלַלbig/LALfor the sake ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasבִּרְכַּתbir/KATthe blessing ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּכׇל־אֲשֶׁרbe/KHOL-a/SHERin all thatיֶשׁ־לוֹyesh-lohe hadבַּבַּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseוּבַשָּׂדֶה׃u/vas/sa/DEand in the field

   And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

   וַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftכׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹkol-a/SHER-loall that he hadבְּיַד־יוֹסֵףbe/YAD-yo/SEFin Joseph's handוְלֹא־יָדַעve/LO-ya/DAand he knew notאִתּוֹit/TOwith himמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingכִּיkisaveאִם־הַלֶּחֶםim-hal/LE/chemthe breadאֲשֶׁר־הוּאa/SHER-huwhich heאוֹכֵלo/KHELateוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephיְפֵה־תֹאַרye/FE-TO/arhandsome of formוִיפֵהvi/FEand handsome ofמַרְאֶה׃mar/Eappearance

   And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחַרa/CHARafterהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe thingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַתִּשָּׂאvat/tis/SAand castאֵשֶׁת־אֲדֹנָיוE/shet-a/do/NAYVhis master's wifeאֶת־עֵינֶיהָet-e/NE/haher eyesאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFupon Josephוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidשִׁכְבָהshikh/VAlieעִמִּי׃im/MIwith me

   And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me.

8. 8

   וַיְמָאֵןvay/ma/ENand he refusedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־אֵשֶׁתel-E/shetto the wife ofאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterהֵןhenbeholdאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy masterלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAknows notאִתִּיit/TIwith meמַה־בַּבָּיִתma-bab/BA/yitwhat is in the houseוְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁר־יֶשׁ־לוֹa/SHER-yesh-lothat he hasנָתַןna/TANhe has committedבְּיָדִי׃be/ya/DIto my hand

   But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

   אֵינֶנּוּe/NEN/nuthere is noneגָדוֹלga/DOLgreaterבַּבַּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nithan Iוְלֹא־חָשַׂךְve/LO-cha/SAKHneither has he kept backמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingכִּיkiexceptאִם־אוֹתָךְim-o/TAKHyouבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERbecauseאַתְּ־אִשְׁתּוֹatt-ish/TOyou are his wifeוְאֵיךְve/EKHand howאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEcan I doהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilהַגְּדֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAgreatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְחָטָאתִיve/cha/TA/tiand sinלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMagainst God

   There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּדַבְּרָהּke/dab/be/RAas she spokeאֶל־יוֹסֵףel-Yo/SEFto Josephיוֹםyomdayיוֹםyomby dayוְלֹא־שָׁמַעve/LO-sha/MAthat he hearkened notאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herלִשְׁכַּבlish/KAVto lie downאֶצְלָהּets/LAby herלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beעִמָּהּ׃im/MAwith her

    And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּהַיּוֹםke/hay/YOMabout the dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOthat he wentהַבַּיְתָהhab/BAY/tainto the houseלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doמְלַאכְתּוֹme/lakh/TOhis workוְאֵיןve/ENand there was noאִישׁishmanמֵאַנְשֵׁיme/an/SHEof the men ofהַבַּיִתhab/BA/yitthe houseשָׁםshamthereבַּבָּיִת׃bab/BA/yitin the house

    And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within.

12. 12

    וַתִּתְפְּשֵׂהוּvat/tit/pe/SE/huand she caught himבְּבִגְדוֹbe/vig/DOby his garmentלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingשִׁכְבָהshikh/VAlieעִמִּיim/MIwith meוַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentבְּיָדָהּbe/ya/DAin her handוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand fledוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand gotהַחוּצָה׃ha/CHU/tsaout

    And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִּרְאוֹתָהּkir/o/TAwhen she sawכִּי־עָזַבki-a/ZAVthat he had leftבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentבְּיָדָהּbe/ya/DAin her handוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand he fledהַחוּצָה׃ha/CHU/tsaout

    And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth,

14. 14

    וַתִּקְרָאvat/tik/RAthat she calledלְאַנְשֵׁיle/an/SHEto the men ofבֵיתָהּve/TAher householdוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingרְאוּre/Useeהֵבִיאhe/VIhe has brought inלָנוּLA/nuto usאִישׁisha manעִבְרִיIv/RIa Hebrewלְצַחֶקle/TSA/chekto mockבָּנוּBA/nuat usבָּאbahe came inאֵלַיe/LAYto meלִשְׁכַּבlish/KAVto lie downעִמִּיim/MIwith meוָאֶקְרָאva/ek/RAand I criedבְּקוֹלbe/KOLwith a voiceגָּדוֹל׃ga/DOLloud

    That she called unto the men of her house, and spake unto them, saying, See, he hath brought in an Hebrew unto us to mock us; he came in unto me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice:

15. 15

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְשׇׁמְעוֹkhe/shom/Owhen he heardכִּי־הֲרִימֹתִיki-ha/ri/MO/tithat I lifted upקוֹלִיko/LImy voiceוָאֶקְרָאva/ek/RAand I criedוַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentאֶצְלִיets/LIbeside meוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand fledוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand gotהַחוּצָה׃ha/CHU/tsaout

    And it came to pass, when he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.

16. 16

    וַתַּנַּחvat/tan/NACHand she laid upבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentאֶצְלָהּets/LAby herעַד־בּוֹאad-bountil cameאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterאֶל־בֵּיתוֹ׃el-be/TOto his house

    And she laid up his garment by her, until his lord came home.

17. 17

    וַתְּדַבֵּרvat/te/dab/BERand she spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבָּא־אֵלַיba-e/LAYcame in to meהָעֶבֶדha/E/vedthe servantהָעִבְרִיha/Iv/RIthe Hebrewאֲשֶׁר־הֵבֵאתָa/SHER-he/VE/tawhom you have broughtלָּנוּLA/nuto usלְצַחֶקle/TSA/chekto mockבִּי׃bime

    And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me:

18. 18

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּהֲרִימִיka/ha/ri/MIwhen I lifted upקוֹלִיko/LImy voiceוָאֶקְרָאva/ek/RAand I criedוַיַּעֲזֹבvay/ya/a/ZOVand he leftבִּגְדוֹbig/DOhis garmentאֶצְלִיets/LIbeside meוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand fledהַחוּצָה׃ha/CHU/tsaout

    And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out.

19. 19

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִשְׁמֹעַkhish/MO/awhen heardאֲדֹנָיוa/do/NAYVhis masterאֶת־דִּבְרֵיet-div/REthe words ofאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבְּרָהdib/be/RAshe spokeאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseעָשָׂהa/SAdidלִיlito meעַבְדֶּךָav/DE/khayour servantוַיִּחַרvay/YI/charthat was kindledאַפּוֹ׃ap/POhis wrath

    And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled.

20. 20

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֲדֹנֵיa/do/NEthe master ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיִּתְּנֵהוּvay/yit/te/NE/huand put himאֶל־בֵּיתel-betinto the house ofהַסֹּהַרhas/SO/harthe prisonמְקוֹםme/KOMa placeאֲשֶׁר־[אֲסִירֵי]a/SHER-a/si/REwhere the prisoners ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingאֲסוּרִיםa/su/RIMwere boundוַיְהִי־שָׁםvay/HI-shamand he was thereבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַר׃has/SO/harthe prison

    And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.

21. 21

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand wasיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יוֹסֵףet-Yo/SEFwith Josephוַיֵּטvay/YETand extendedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himחָסֶדCHA/sedmercyוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveחִנּוֹchin/NOhis favorבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofשַׂרsarthe keeper ofבֵּית־הַסֹּהַר׃bet-has/SO/harthe prison house

    But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

22. 22

    וַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveשַׂרsarthe keeper ofבֵּית־הַסֹּהַרbet-has/SO/harthe prison houseבְּיַד־יוֹסֵףbe/YAD-yo/SEFinto Joseph's handאֵת־כׇּל־הָאֲסִירִםet-kol-ha/a/si/RIMall the prisonersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהַסֹּהַרhas/SO/harthe prisonוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֲשֶׁרkol-a/SHERall thatעֹשִׂיםo/SIMthey didשָׁםshamthereהוּאhuheהָיָהha/YAwasעֹשֶׂה׃o/SEthe doer of it

    And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it.

23. 23

    אֵיןennotשַׂרsarthe keeper ofבֵּית־הַסֹּהַרbet-has/SO/harthe prison houseרֹאֶהro/Elooked toאֶת־כׇּל־מְאוּמָהet-kol-me/U/maanything at allבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOunder his handבַּאֲשֶׁרba/a/SHERbecauseיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאִתּוֹit/TOwas with himוַאֲשֶׁר־הוּאva/a/SHER-huand that which heעֹשֶׂהo/SEdidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמַצְלִיחַ׃mats/LI/achmade it prosper

    The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper.
