1. 1

   וַיְהִיand it came to passאַחַרafterהַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוְהָאֱלֹהִיםand the Godנִסָּהhe put to the testאֶת־אַבְרָהָםAbrahamוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוto himאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוַיֹּאמֶרand saidהִנֵּנִי׃here am I

   And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2. 2

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidקַח־נָאtake I prayאֶת־בִּנְךָyour sonאֶת־יְחִידְךָyour only sonאֲשֶׁר־אָהַבְתָּwhich you loveאֶת־יִצְחָקIsaacוְלֶךְ־לְךָand go for youאֶל־אֶרֶץto the land ofהַמֹּרִיָּהthe Moriahוְהַעֲלֵהוּand offer up himשָׁםthereלְעֹלָהto a burnt offeringעַלuponאַחַדoneהֶהָרִיםthe mountainsאֲשֶׁרwhichאֹמַרI sayאֵלֶיךָ׃to you

   And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

   וַיַּשְׁכֵּםand he rose earlyאַבְרָהָםAbrahamבַּבֹּקֶרin the morningוַיַּחֲבֹשׁand he saddledאֶת־חֲמֹרוֹhis donkeyוַיִּקַּחand tookאֶת־שְׁנֵיtwoנְעָרָיוhis young menאִתּוֹwith himוְאֵתandיִצְחָקIsaacבְּנוֹhis sonוַיְבַקַּעand he splitעֲצֵיthe trees ofעֹלָהa burnt offeringוַיָּקׇםand rose upוַיֵּלֶךְand wentאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםunto the placeאֲשֶׁר־אָמַר־לוֹwhich said himהָאֱלֹהִים׃the God

   And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.

   בַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthe thirdוַיִּשָּׂאand he castאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶת־עֵינָיוhis eyesוַיַּרְאand sawאֶת־הַמָּקוֹםthe placeמֵרָחֹק׃from a distance

   Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶל־נְעָרָיוto his young menשְׁבוּ־לָכֶםstay here for yourselvesפֹּהhereעִם־הַחֲמוֹרwith the donkeyוַאֲנִיand Iוְהַנַּעַרand the ladנֵלְכָהlet us goעַד־כֹּהuntil thusוְנִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהso we may bow downוְנָשׁוּבָהand we will returnאֲלֵיכֶם׃unto you

   And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

6. 6

   וַיִּקַּחand tookאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶת־עֲצֵיthe trees ofהָעֹלָהthe burnt offeringוַיָּשֶׂםand laidעַל־יִצְחָקupon Isaacבְּנוֹhis sonוַיִּקַּחand tookבְּיָדוֹin his handאֶת־הָאֵשׁthe fireוְאֶת־הַמַּאֲכֶלֶתand the knifeוַיֵּלְכוּand they wentשְׁנֵיהֶםthe twoיַחְדָּו׃together

   And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

7. 7

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיִצְחָקIsaacאֶל־אַבְרָהָםunto Abrahamאָבִיוhis fatherוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאָבִיmy fatherוַיֹּאמֶרand saidהִנֶּנִּיhere am Iבְנִיmy sonוַיֹּאמֶרand saidהִנֵּהbeholdהָאֵשׁthe fireוְהָעֵצִיםand the treesוְאַיֵּהand where isהַשֶּׂהthe lambלְעֹלָה׃to a burnt offering

   And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֱלֹהִיםGodיִרְאֶה־לּוֹwill provide for Himselfהַשֶּׂהthe lambלְעֹלָהto a burnt offeringבְּנִיmy sonוַיֵּלְכוּand they wentשְׁנֵיהֶםthe twoיַחְדָּו׃together

   And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

9. 9

   וַיָּבֹאוּand they cameאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםunto the placeאֲשֶׁרwhichאָמַר־לוֹsaid himהָאֱלֹהִיםthe Godוַיִּבֶןand builtשָׁםthereאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶת־הַמִּזְבֵּחַthe altarוַיַּעֲרֹךְand he arrangedאֶת־הָעֵצִיםthe treesוַיַּעֲקֹדand he boundאֶת־יִצְחָקIsaacבְּנוֹhis sonוַיָּשֶׂםand laidאֹתוֹhimעַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַupon the altarמִמַּעַלaboveלָעֵצִים׃the wood

   And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

10. 10

    וַיִּשְׁלַחand he put forthאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶת־יָדוֹhis handוַיִּקַּחand tookאֶת־הַמַּאֲכֶלֶתthe knifeלִשְׁחֹטto slaughterאֶת־בְּנוֹ׃his son

    And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

11. 11

    וַיִּקְרָאand calledאֵלָיוto himמַלְאַךְthe angel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִן־הַשָּׁמַיִםfrom the heavensוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוַיֹּאמֶרand saidהִנֵּנִי׃here am I

    And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidאַל־תִּשְׁלַחdo not send forthיָדְךָyour handאֶל־הַנַּעַרto the childוְאַל־תַּעַשׂand do not doלוֹto himמְאוּמָהanythingכִּיforעַתָּהnowיָדַעְתִּיI knowכִּי־יְרֵאbecause that fearsאֱלֹהִיםGodאַתָּהyouוְלֹאand notחָשַׂכְתָּyou have withheldאֶת־בִּנְךָyour sonאֶת־יְחִידְךָyour only sonמִמֶּנִּי׃from me

    And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

13. 13

    וַיִּשָּׂאand he castאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶת־עֵינָיוhis eyesוַיַּרְאand sawוְהִנֵּה־אַיִלand behold a ramאַחַרbehindנֶאֱחַזit was caughtבַּסְּבַךְin the thicketבְּקַרְנָיוby his hornsוַיֵּלֶךְand wentאַבְרָהָםAbrahamוַיִּקַּחand tookאֶת־הָאַיִלthe ramוַיַּעֲלֵהוּand offered him upלְעֹלָהto a burnt offeringתַּחַתunderבְּנוֹ׃his son

    And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

14. 14

    וַיִּקְרָאand calledאַבְרָהָםAbrahamשֵׁם־הַמָּקוֹםname of the placeהַהוּאthatיְהֹוָהthe LORDיִרְאֶהwill provideאֲשֶׁרwhichיֵאָמֵרit is saidהַיּוֹםthe dayבְּהַרon the mount ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDיֵרָאֶה׃it shall be provided

    And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

15. 15

    וַיִּקְרָאand calledמַלְאַךְthe angel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־אַבְרָהָםunto Abrahamשֵׁנִיתagainמִן־הַשָּׁמָיִם׃from the heavens

    And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidבִּיby myselfנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיI have swornנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDכִּיthatיַעַןbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichעָשִׂיתָyou didאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe thingהַזֶּהthisוְלֹאand notחָשַׂכְתָּyou have withheldאֶת־בִּנְךָyour sonאֶת־יְחִידֶךָ׃your only son

    And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

17. 17

    כִּי־בָרֵךְbecause surelyאֲבָרֶכְךָI will bless youוְהַרְבָּהand certainlyאַרְבֶּהI will multiplyאֶת־זַרְעֲךָyour seedכְּכוֹכְבֵיlike the stars ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְכַחוֹלand like the sandאֲשֶׁרwhichעַל־שְׂפַתupon the shore ofהַיָּםthe seaוְיִרַשׁso may take possession ofזַרְעֲךָyour seedאֵת־שַׁעַרthe gate ofאֹיְבָיו׃his enemies

    That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

18. 18

    וְהִתְבָּרְכוּand they will bless themselvesבְזַרְעֲךָin your seedכֹּלallגּוֹיֵיnations ofהָאָרֶץthe earthעֵקֶבbecauseאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁמַעְתָּyou have obeyedבְּקֹלִי׃my voice

    And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

19. 19

    וַיָּשׇׁבand returnedאַבְרָהָםAbrahamאֶל־נְעָרָיוto his young menוַיָּקֻמוּand rose upוַיֵּלְכוּand they wentיַחְדָּוtogetherאֶל־בְּאֵרto Beer-שָׁבַעshebaוַיֵּשֶׁבand he dweltאַבְרָהָםAbrahamבִּבְאֵרat Beer-שָׁבַע׃sheba

    So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they rose up and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.

20. 20

    וַיְהִיand it came to passאַחֲרֵיafterהַדְּבָרִיםthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוַיֻּגַּדand it was toldלְאַבְרָהָםunto Abrahamלֵאמֹרsayingהִנֵּהbeholdיָלְדָהshe boreמִלְכָּהMilcahגַם־הִואalso sheבָּנִיםsonsלְנָחוֹרto Nahorאָחִיךָ׃your brother

    And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold, Milcah, she hath also born children unto thy brother Nahor;

21. 21

    אֶת־עוּץUzבְּכֹרוֹhis firstbornוְאֶת־בּוּזand Buzאָחִיוhis brotherוְאֶת־קְמוּאֵלand Kemuelאֲבִיthe father ofאֲרָם׃Aram

    Huz his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemuel the father of Aram,

22. 22

    וְאֶת־כֶּשֶׂדand Kesedוְאֶת־חֲזוֹand Hazoוְאֶת־פִּלְדָּשׁand Pildashוְאֶת־יִדְלָףand Jidlaphוְאֵתandבְּתוּאֵל׃Bethuel

    And Chesed, and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel.

23. 23

    וּבְתוּאֵלand Bethuelיָלַדbegatאֶת־רִבְקָהRebekahשְׁמֹנָהeightאֵלֶּהtheseיָלְדָהshe boreמִלְכָּהMilcahלְנָחוֹרto Nahorאֲחִיthe brother ofאַבְרָהָם׃Abraham

    And Bethuel begat Rebekah: these eight Milcah did bear to Nahor, Abraham's brother.

24. 24

    וּפִילַגְשׁוֹand his concubineוּשְׁמָהּand her name wasרְאוּמָהReumahוַתֵּלֶדand boreגַּם־הִואalso sheאֶת־טֶבַחTebahוְאֶת־גַּחַםand Gahamוְאֶת־תַּחַשׁand Tahashוְאֶת־מַעֲכָה׃and Maachah

    And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she bare also Tebah, and Gaham, and Thahash, and Maachah.
