   And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֶל־שָׂרָהel-Sa/RAto Sarahאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeאֲחֹתִיa/cho/TImy sisterהִואhivshe isוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentאֲבִימֶלֶךְA/vi/ME/lekhAbimelechמֶלֶךְME/lekhking ofגְּרָרGe/RARGerarוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־שָׂרָה׃et-Sa/RASarah

   And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶל־אֲבִימֶלֶךְel-A/vi/ME/lekhto Abimelechבַּחֲלוֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamהַלָּיְלָהhal/LAY/laby nightוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himהִנְּךָhin/ne/KHAbehold youמֵתmetare a dead manעַל־הָאִשָּׁהal-ha/ish/SHAfor the womanאֲשֶׁר־לָקַחְתָּa/SHER-la/KACH/tawhich you have takenוְהִואve/HIVand sheבְּעֻלַתbe/U/latis the wife ofבָּעַל׃BA/ala husband

   But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.

   But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

   הֲלֹאha/LOdid notהוּאhuhe isאָמַר־לִיa/MAR-lisay to meאֲחֹתִיa/cho/TImy sisterהִואhivshe isוְהִיא־גַם־הִואve/HI-gam-hivand she even she herselfאָמְרָהa/me/RAsaidאָחִיa/CHImy brotherהוּאhuhe isבְּתׇם־לְבָבִיbe/TOM-le/va/VIin the integrity of my heartוּבְנִקְיֹןu/ve/nik/YONand in the innocence ofכַּפַּיkap/PAYmy handsעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tihave I doneזֹאת׃zotthis

   Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבַּחֲלֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamגַּםgamalsoאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiknowכִּיkithatבְתׇם־לְבָבְךָve/TOM-le/va/ve/KHAin the integrity of your heartעָשִׂיתָa/SI/tayou didזֹּאתzotthisוָאֶחְשֹׂךְva/ech/SOKHand I withheldגַּם־אָנֹכִיgam-a/no/KHIalso Iאוֹתְךָot/KHAyouמֵחֲטוֹ־לִיme/cha/TO-lifrom sinning against meעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹא־נְתַתִּיךָlo-ne/tat/TI/khaI did not let youלִנְגֹּעַlin/GO/ato touchאֵלֶיהָ׃e/LE/haher

   And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהָשֵׁבha/SHEVrestoreאֵשֶׁת־הָאִישׁE/shet-ha/ISHthe wife of the manכִּי־נָבִיאki-na/VIfor a prophetהוּאhuhe isוְיִתְפַּלֵּלve/yit/pal/LELand he shall prayבַּעַדְךָba/ad/KHAfor youוֶחְיֵהvech/YEand you shall liveוְאִם־אֵינְךָve/IM-e/ne/KHAand if you are notמֵשִׁיבme/SHIVrestoringדַּעdaknowכִּי־מוֹתki-motthat dieתָּמוּתta/MUTyou shall dieאַתָּהat/TAyouוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לָךְ׃ve/KHOL-a/SHER-lakhand all that is yours

   Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

   וַיַּשְׁכֵּםvay/yash/KEMand he rose earlyאֲבִימֶלֶךְA/vi/ME/lekhAbimelechבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלְכׇל־עֲבָדָיוle/KHOL-a/va/DAYVall his servantsוַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּאׇזְנֵיהֶםbe/oz/ne/HEMin their earsוַיִּירְאוּvay/yi/re/Uand were afraidהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menמְאֹד׃me/ODgreatly

   Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.

   Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

    And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamכִּיkibecauseאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidרַקraksurelyאֵין־יִרְאַתen-yir/ATthere is no fear ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבַּמָּקוֹםbam/ma/KOMin placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַהֲרָגוּנִיva/ha/ra/GU/niand they will slay meעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARfor the sake ofאִשְׁתִּי׃ish/TImy wife

    And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.

12. 12

    וְגַם־אׇמְנָהve/GAM-om/NAand yet indeedאֲחֹתִיa/cho/TImy sisterבַת־אָבִיvat-a/VIthe daughter of my fatherהִואhivshe isאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotבַת־אִמִּיvat-im/MIthe daughter of my motherוַתְּהִי־לִיvat/te/HI-liand she became to meלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAwife

    And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERwhenהִתְעוּhit/Ucaused to wanderאֹתִיo/TImeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofאָבִיa/VImy fatherוָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidלָהּlato herזֶהzethis isחַסְדֵּךְchas/DEKHyour kindnessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereתַּעֲשִׂיta/a/SIyou shall showעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIto meאֶלelatכׇּל־הַמָּקוֹםkol-ham/ma/KOMevery placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereנָבוֹאna/VOwe shall comeשָׁמָּהSHAM/mathereאִמְרִי־לִיim/RI-lisay of meאָחִיa/CHImy brotherהוּא׃huhe is

    And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֲבִימֶלֶךְA/vi/ME/lekhAbimelechצֹאןtsonflocksוּבָקָרu/va/KARand herdsוַעֲבָדִיםva/a/va/DIMand menservantsוּשְׁפָחֹתu/she/fa/CHOTand womenservantsוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveלְאַבְרָהָםle/Av/ra/HAMto Abrahamוַיָּשֶׁבvay/YA/shevand restoredלוֹlohimאֵת־שָׂרָהet-Sa/RASarahאִשְׁתּוֹ׃ish/TOhis wife

    And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲבִימֶלֶךְA/vi/ME/lekhAbimelechהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַרְצִיar/TSImy landלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khais before youבַּטּוֹבbat/TOVin the goodבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesשֵׁב׃shevdwell

    And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.

16. 16

    וּלְשָׂרָהu/Le/sa/RAand to Sarahאָמַרa/MARsaidהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI have givenאֶלֶףE/lefa thousandכֶּסֶףKE/sefpieces of silverלְאָחִיךְle/a/CHIKHto your brotherהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהוּא־לָךְhu-lakhhe is to youכְּסוּתke/SUTa covering ofעֵינַיִםe/NA/yimthe eyesלְכֹלle/KHOLto allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat areאִתָּךְit/TAKHwith youוְאֵתve/ETand withכֹּלkolallוְנֹכָחַת׃ve/no/KHA/chatand you are cleared

    And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.

17. 17

    וַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand he prayedאַבְרָהָםAv/ra/HAMAbrahamאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםel-ha/e/lo/HIMunto Godוַיִּרְפָּאvay/yir/PAand healedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶת־אֲבִימֶלֶךְet-A/vi/ME/lekhAbimelechוְאֶת־אִשְׁתּוֹve/ET-ish/TOand his wifeוְאַמְהֹתָיוve/am/ho/TAYVand his maidservantsוַיֵּלֵדוּ׃vay/ye/LE/duand they bore children

    So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

18. 18

    כִּי־עָצֹרki-a/TSORfor shut upעָצַרa/TSARhad shut upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּעַדbe/ADfastכׇּל־רֶחֶםkol-RE/chemevery wombלְבֵיתle/VETof the house ofאֲבִימֶלֶךְA/vi/ME/lekhAbimelechעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARbecause ofשָׂרָהSa/RASarahאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofאַבְרָהָם׃Av/ra/HAMAbraham

    For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
