Genesis 13 בְּרֵאשִׁית פרק י״ג

1. 1

   וַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upאַבְרָםAv/RAMAbramמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptהוּאhuheוְאִשְׁתּוֹve/ish/TOand his wifeוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹve/KHOL-a/SHER-loand all that he hadוְלוֹטve/LOTand Lotעִמּוֹim/MOwith himהַנֶּגְבָּה׃han/NEG/bainto the Negev

   And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.

   וְאַבְרָםve/Av/RAMand Abramכָּבֵדka/VEDheavyמְאֹדme/ODexceedinglyבַּמִּקְנֶהbam/mik/NEin livestockבַּכֶּסֶףbak/KE/sefin silverוּבַזָּהָב׃u/vaz/za/HAVand in gold

   And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentלְמַסָּעָיוle/mas/sa/AYVon his journeysמִנֶּגֶבmin/NE/gevfrom the Negevוְעַד־בֵּית־אֵלve/AD-bet-eleven to Beth-elעַד־הַמָּקוֹםad-ham/ma/KOMto the placeאֲשֶׁר־הָיָהa/SHER-ha/YAwhere had beenשָׁםshamthereאׇהֳלֹהo/ho/LOhis tentבַּתְּחִלָּהbat/te/chil/LAat the beginningבֵּיןbenbetweenבֵּית־אֵלBet-elBeth-elוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenהָעָי׃Ha/AYAi

   And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Hai;

   אֶל־מְקוֹםel-me/KOMto the place ofהַמִּזְבֵּחַham/miz/BE/achthe altarאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAwhich he had madeשָׁםshamthereבָּרִאשֹׁנָהba/ri/sho/NAat the firstוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledשָׁםshamthereאַבְרָםAv/RAMAbramבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMupon the name ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.

   וְגַם־לְלוֹטve/GAM-le/LOTand also to Lotהַהֹלֵךְha/ho/LEKHthat went withאֶת־אַבְרָםet-Av/RAMAbramהָיָהha/YAwasצֹאן־וּבָקָרtson-u/va/KARflocks and herdsוְאֹהָלִים׃ve/o/ha/LIMand tents

   And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.

   וְלֹא־נָשָׂאve/LO-na/SAand not boreאֹתָםo/TAMthemהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto dwellיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherכִּי־הָיָהki-ha/YAfor wasרְכוּשָׁםre/khu/SHAMtheir possessionsרָבravgreatוְלֹאve/LOand notיָכְלוּya/khe/LUcould theyלָשֶׁבֶתla/SHE/vetto dwellיַחְדָּו׃yach/DAVtogether

   And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.

   וַיְהִי־רִיבvay/HI-rivand there was strifeבֵּיןbenbetweenרֹעֵיro/Ethe herdsmen ofמִקְנֵה־אַבְרָםmik/NE-Av/RAMthe livestock of Abramוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenרֹעֵיro/Ethe herdsmen ofמִקְנֵה־לוֹטmik/NE-Lotthe livestock of Lotוְהַכְּנַעֲנִיve/hak/Ke/na/a/NIand the Canaaniteוְהַפְּרִזִּיve/hap/Pe/riz/ZIand the Perizziteאָזazthenיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVdweltבָּאָרֶץ׃ba/A/retsin the land

   And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַבְרָםAv/RAMAbramאֶל־לוֹטel-Lotto Lotאַל־נָאal-nalet not I prayתְהִיte/HIthere beמְרִיבָהme/ri/VAstrifeבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָu/ve/NE/khaand between youוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenרֹעַיro/AYmy herdsmenוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenרֹעֶיךָro/E/khayour herdsmenכִּי־אֲנָשִׁיםki-a/na/SHIMfor menאַחִיםa/CHIMbrethrenאֲנָחְנוּ׃a/NACH/nuwe are

   And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.

   הֲלֹאha/LOis notכׇל־הָאָרֶץkhol-ha/A/retsthe whole landלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youהִפָּרֶדhip/PA/redseparate yourselfנָאnaI prayמֵעָלָיme/a/LAYfrom meאִם־הַשְּׂמֹאלim-has/se/MOLif the leftוְאֵימִנָהve/e/MI/nathen I will go rightוְאִם־הַיָּמִיןve/IM-hay/ya/MINor if the rightוְאַשְׂמְאִילָה׃ve/as/me/I/lathen I will go left

   Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.

    וַיִּשָּׂא־לוֹטvay/Yis/SA-lotand Lot lifted upאֶת־עֵינָיוet-e/NAYVhis eyesוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֶת־כׇּל־כִּכַּרet-kol-kik/KARall the plain ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanכִּיkithatכֻלָּהּkhul/LAall of itמַשְׁקֶהmash/KEwas well wateredלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeשַׁחֵתsha/CHETdestroyedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־סְדֹםet-Se/DOMSodomוְאֶת־עֲמֹרָהve/ET-a/mo/RAand Gomorrahכְּגַן־יְהֹוָהke/GAN-Adonailike the garden of the LORDכְּאֶרֶץke/E/retslike the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptבֹּאֲכָהbo/a/KHAas you come toצֹעַר׃TSO/arZoar

    And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.

11. 11

    וַיִּבְחַר־לוֹvay/yiv/CHAR-loand chose for himselfלוֹטLotLotאֵת־כׇּל־כִּכַּרet-kol-kik/KARall the plain ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanוַיִּסַּעvay/yis/SAand he journeyedלוֹטLotLotמִקֶּדֶםmik/KE/demeastwardוַיִּפָּרְדוּvay/yip/pa/re/DUand they separated themselvesאִישׁishthe oneמֵעַלme/ALfromאָחִיו׃a/CHIVhis brother

    Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.

12. 12

    אַבְרָםAv/RAMAbramיָשַׁבya/SHAVdweltבְּאֶרֶץ־כְּנָעַןbe/E/rets-ke/NA/anin the land of Canaanוְלוֹטve/LOTand Lotיָשַׁבya/SHAVdweltבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofהַכִּכָּרhak/kik/KARthe plainוַיֶּאֱהַלvay/ye/e/HALand pitched his tentעַד־סְדֹם׃ad-Se/DOMtoward Sodom

    Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.

13. 13

    וְאַנְשֵׁיve/an/SHEand the men ofסְדֹםSe/DOMSodomרָעִיםra/IMwere wickedוְחַטָּאִיםve/chat/ta/IMand sinfulלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaibefore the LORDמְאֹד׃me/ODexceedingly

    But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

14. 14

    וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDאָמַרa/MARsaidאֶל־אַבְרָםel-Av/RAMto Abramאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהִפָּרֶד־לוֹטHip/PA/red-lotLot was separatedמֵעִמּוֹme/im/MOfrom himשָׂאsalift upנָאnanowעֵינֶיךָe/NE/khayour eyesוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand lookמִן־הַמָּקוֹםmin-ham/ma/KOMfrom the placeאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהa/SHER-at/TAwhere you areשָׁםshamthereצָפֹנָהtsa/FO/nanorthwardוָנֶגְבָּהva/NEG/baand southwardוָקֵדְמָהva/KED/maand eastwardוָיָמָּה׃va/YAM/maand westward

    And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:

15. 15

    כִּיkiforאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץet-kol-ha/A/retsall the landאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהa/SHER-at/TAwhich youרֹאֶהro/Eseeלְךָle/KHAto youאֶתְּנֶנָּהet/te/NEN/nawill I give itוּלְזַרְעֲךָu/le/zar/a/KHAand to your seedעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

16. 16

    וְשַׂמְתִּיve/sam/TIand I will makeאֶת־זַרְעֲךָet-zar/a/KHAyour seedכַּעֲפַרka/a/FARas the dust ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthאֲשֶׁרa/SHERso thatאִם־יוּכַלim-yu/KHALif canאִישׁisha manלִמְנוֹתlim/NOTto numberאֶת־עֲפַרet-a/FARthe dust ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthגַּם־זַרְעֲךָgam-zar/a/KHAalso your seedיִמָּנֶה׃yim/ma/NEshall be numbered

    And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.

17. 17

    קוּםkumariseהִתְהַלֵּךְhit/hal/LEKHwalkבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landלְאׇרְכָּהּle/or/KAin its lengthוּלְרׇחְבָּהּu/le/roch/BAand in its breadthכִּיkiforלְךָle/KHAto youאֶתְּנֶנָּה׃et/te/NEN/nawill I give it

    Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

18. 18

    וַיֶּאֱהַלvay/ye/e/HALand moved his tentאַבְרָםAv/RAMAbramוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he dweltבְּאֵלֹנֵיbe/e/lo/NEby the oaks ofמַמְרֵאMam/REMamreאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבְּחֶבְרוֹןbe/Chev/RONin Hebronוַיִּבֶן־שָׁםvay/YI/ven-shamand he built thereמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achan altarלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the LORD.
