   These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.

   Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.

    And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.

    And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.

    Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.

    וָאֶקְבְּצֵםva/ek/be/TSEMand I gathered themאֶל־הַנָּהָרel-han/na/HARto the riverהַבָּאhab/BAthat runsאֶל־אַהֲוָאel-A/ha/VAto Ahavaוַנַּחֲנֶהvan/na/cha/NEand we encampedשָׁםshamthereיָמִיםya/MIMdaysשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeוָאָבִינָהva/a/VI/naand I looked overבָעָםva/AMthe peopleוּבַכֹּהֲנִיםu/vak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsוּמִבְּנֵיu/mib/be/NEand of the sons ofלֵוִיLe/VILeviלֹא־מָצָאתִיlo-ma/TSA/tiI found noneשָׁם׃shamthere

    And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

    Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.

    And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

    וַיָּבִיאּוּvay/ya/VI/uand they broughtלָנוּLA/nuto usכְּיַד־אֱלֹהֵינוּke/YAD-e/lo/HE/nuaccording to the hand of our Godהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usאִישׁisha man ofשֶׂכֶלSE/khelunderstandingמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofמַחְלִיMach/LIMahliבֶּן־לֵוִיben-Le/VIthe son of Leviבֶּן־יִשְׂרָאֵלben-Yis/ra/ELthe son of Israelוְשֵׁרֵבְיָהve/She/rev/YAand Sherebiahוּבָנָיוu/va/NAYVand his sonsוְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brothersשְׁמֹנָה־עָשָׂר׃she/mo/NA-a/SAReighteen

    And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;

    וְאֶת־חֲשַׁבְיָהve/ET-cha/shav/YAand Hashabiahוְאִתּוֹve/it/TOand with himיְשַׁעְיָהYe/sha/YAJeshaiahמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEof the sons ofמְרָרִיMe/ra/RIMerariאֶחָיוe/CHAYVhis brothersוּבְנֵיהֶםu/ve/ne/HEMand their sonsעֶשְׂרִים׃es/RIMtwenty

    And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;

20. 20

    וּמִן־הַנְּתִינִיםu/MIN-han/ne/ti/NIMand of the temple servantsשֶׁנָּתַןshen/na/TANwhom had appointedדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidוְהַשָּׂרִיםve/has/sa/RIMand the princesלַעֲבֹדַתla/a/vo/DATfor the service ofהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesנְתִינִיםne/ti/NIMtemple servantsמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themנִקְּבוּnik/ke/VUwere designatedבְשֵׁמוֹת׃ve/she/MOTby name

    Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

21. 21

    וָאֶקְרָאva/ek/RAthen I proclaimedשָׁםshamthereצוֹםtsoma fastעַל־הַנָּהָרal-han/na/HARat the riverאַהֲוָאA/ha/VAAhavaלְהִתְעַנּוֹתle/hit/an/NOTthat we might humble ourselvesלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godלְבַקֵּשׁle/vak/KESHto seekמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof HimדֶּרֶךְDE/rekha wayיְשָׁרָהye/sha/RAstraightלָנוּLA/nufor usוּלְטַפֵּנוּu/le/tap/PE/nuand for our little onesוּלְכׇל־רְכוּשֵׁנוּ׃u/le/KHOL-re/khu/SHE/nuand for all our goods

    Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

22. 22

    כִּיkiforבֹשְׁתִּיVOSH/tiI was ashamedלִשְׁאוֹלlish/OLto askמִן־הַמֶּלֶךְmin-ham/ME/lekhfrom the kingחַיִלCHA/yilan armyוּפָרָשִׁיםu/fa/ra/SHIMand horsemenלְעׇזְרֵנוּle/oz/RE/nuto help usמֵאוֹיֵבme/o/YEVagainst the enemyבַּדָּרֶךְbad/DA/rekhby the wayכִּי־אָמַרְנוּki-a/MAR/nufor we had saidלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhto the kingלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיַד־אֱלֹהֵינוּyad-e/lo/HE/nuthe hand of our God isעַל־כׇּל־מְבַקְשָׁיוal-kol-me/vak/SHAYVupon all who seek Himלְטוֹבָהle/to/VAfor goodוְעֻזּוֹve/uz/ZObut His powerוְאַפּוֹve/ap/POand His wrathעַלalare againstכׇּל־עֹזְבָיו׃kol-oz/VAYVall who forsake Him

    For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

23. 23

    וַנָּצוּמָהvan/na/TSU/maand we fastedוַנְּבַקְשָׁהvan/ne/vak/SHAand we soughtמֵאֱלֹהֵינוּme/e/lo/HE/nuour Godעַל־זֹאתal-zotfor thisוַיֵּעָתֵרvay/ye/a/TERand He was entreatedלָנוּ׃LA/nuby us

    So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

24. 24

    וָאַבְדִּילָהva/av/DI/laand I set apartמִשָּׂרֵיmis/sa/REof the chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveלְשֵׁרֵבְיָהLe/she/rev/YASherebiahחֲשַׁבְיָהCha/shav/YAHashabiahוְעִמָּהֶםve/im/ma/HEMand with themמֵאֲחֵיהֶםme/a/che/HEMof their brothersעֲשָׂרָה׃a/sa/RAten

    Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,

25. 25

    (ואשקולה)vshakavalah[וָאֶשְׁקֳלָה]va/esh/ko/LAand weighed outלָהֶםla/HEMto themאֶת־הַכֶּסֶףet-hak/KE/sefthe silverוְאֶת־הַזָּהָבve/ET-haz/za/HAVand the goldוְאֶת־הַכֵּלִיםve/ET-hak/ke/LIMand the vesselsתְּרוּמַתte/ru/MATthe offering forבֵּית־אֱלֹהֵינוּbet-e/lo/HE/nuthe house of our Godהַהֵרִימוּha/he/RI/muthat had offeredהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוְיֹעֲצָיוve/yo/a/TSAYVand his counselorsוְשָׂרָיוve/sa/RAYVand his princesוְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/KHOL-yis/ra/ELand all Israelהַנִּמְצָאִים׃han/nim/tsa/IMwho were present

    And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:

26. 26

    וָאֶשְׁקְלָהva/esh/ke/LAand I weighed outעַל־יָדָםal-ya/DAMinto their handכֶּסֶףKE/sefof silverכִּכָּרִיםkik/ka/RIMtalentsשֵׁשׁ־מֵאוֹתshesh-me/OTsix hundredוַחֲמִשִּׁיםva/cha/mish/SHIMand fiftyוּכְלֵי־כֶסֶףu/khe/LE-KHE/sefand silver vesselsמֵאָהme/Aa hundredלְכִכָּרִיםle/khik/ka/RIMtalentsזָהָבza/HAVof goldמֵאָהme/Aa hundredכִכָּר׃khik/KARtalents

    I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;

    וּכְפֹרֵיu/khe/fo/REand bowls ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyלַאֲדַרְכֹנִיםla/a/dar/kho/NIMof daricsאָלֶףA/lefa thousandוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand vessels ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeמֻצְהָבmuts/HAVbrightטוֹבָהto/VAgoodשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoחֲמוּדֹתcha/mu/DOTpreciousכַּזָּהָב׃kaz/za/HAVas gold

    Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.

    וָאֹמְרָהva/om/RAand I saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areקֹדֶשׁKO/deshholyלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDוְהַכֵּלִיםve/hak/ke/LIMand the vesselsקֹדֶשׁKO/deshholyוְהַכֶּסֶףve/hak/KE/sefand the silverוְהַזָּהָבve/haz/za/HAVand the goldנְדָבָהne/da/VAa freewill offeringלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבֹתֵיכֶם׃a/vo/te/KHEMyour fathers

    And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.

    שִׁקְדוּshik/DUwatchוְשִׁמְרוּve/shim/RUand keepעַד־תִּשְׁקְלוּad-tish/ke/LUuntil you weigh themלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeשָׂרֵיsa/REthe chiefs ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesוְשָׂרֵי־הָאָבוֹתve/sa/RE-ha/a/VOTand the chiefs of the fathersלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELof Israelבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemהַלִּשְׁכוֹתhal/lish/KHOTin the chambers ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.

30. 30

    וְקִבְּלוּve/kib/be/LUso tookהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesמִשְׁקַלmish/KALthe weight ofהַכֶּסֶףhak/KE/sefthe silverוְהַזָּהָבve/haz/za/HAVand the goldוְהַכֵּלִיםve/hak/ke/LIMand the vesselsלְהָבִיאle/ha/VIto bringלִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםlI/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃e/lo/HE/nuour God

    So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

31. 31

    וַנִּסְּעָהvan/nis/se/Aand we departedמִנְּהַרmin/ne/HARfrom the river ofאַהֲוָאA/ha/VAAhavaבִּשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרbish/NEM-a/SARon the twelfthלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto go toיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוְיַד־אֱלֹהֵינוּve/YAD-e/lo/HE/nuand the hand of our Godהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usוַיַּצִּילֵנוּvay/yats/tsi/LE/nuand he delivered usמִכַּףmik/KAFout of the hand ofאוֹיֵבo/YEVthe enemyוְאוֹרֵבve/o/REVand the ambusherעַל־הַדָּרֶךְ׃al-had/DA/rekhby the way

    Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

    וַנָּבוֹאvan/na/VOand we came toיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוַנֵּשֶׁבvan/NE/shevand stayedשָׁםshamthereיָמִיםya/MIMdaysשְׁלֹשָׁה׃she/lo/SHAthree

    And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

    Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;

    בְּמִסְפָּרbe/mis/PARby numberבְּמִשְׁקָלbe/mish/KALby weightלַכֹּלlak/KOLof everythingוַיִּכָּתֵבvay/yik/ka/TEVand was writtenכׇּל־הַמִּשְׁקָלkol-ham/mish/KALall the weightבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.

    הַבָּאִיםhab/ba/IMthose who had comeמֵהַשְּׁבִיme/hash/she/VIfrom the captivityבְנֵי־הַגּוֹלָהve/NE-hag/go/LAthe children of the exileהִקְרִיבוּhik/RI/vuthey offeredעֹלוֹתo/LOTburnt offeringsלֵאלֹהֵיle/lo/HEto the God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelפָּרִיםpa/RIMbullsשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELfor all Israelאֵילִיםe/LIMramsתִּשְׁעִיםtish/IMninetyוְשִׁשָּׁהve/shish/SHAand sixכְּבָשִׂיםke/va/SIMlambsשִׁבְעִיםshiv/IMseventyוְשִׁבְעָהve/shiv/Aand sevenצְפִירֵיtse/fi/REmale goats ofחַטָּאתchat/TATsin offeringשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveהַכֹּלhak/KOLallעוֹלָהo/LAburnt offeringלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.

36. 36

    וַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand they deliveredאֶת־דָּתֵיet-da/TEthe laws ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingלַאֲחַשְׁדַּרְפְּנֵיla/a/chash/dar/pe/NEto the satraps ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוּפַחֲווֹתu/fa/cha/VOTand to the governors ofעֵבֶרE/verbeyondהַנָּהָרhan/na/HARthe riverוְנִשְּׂאוּve/nis/se/Uand they helpedאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוְאֶת־בֵּיתve/ET-betand the house ofהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

    And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.
