   Then Darius the king made a decree, and search was made in the house of the rolls, where the treasures were laid up in Babylon.

   And there was found at Achmetha, in the palace that is in the province of the Medes, a roll, and therein was a record thus written:

   In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;

   With three rows of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expenses be given out of the king's house:

   וְאַףve/AFand moreoverמָאנֵיma/NEthe vessels ofבֵית־אֱלָהָאvet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדִּיdiofדַהֲבָהda/ha/VAgoldוְכַסְפָּאve/khas/PAand silverדִּיdiwhichנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּרNe/vu/khad/nets/TSARNebuchadnezzarהַנְפֵּקhan/PEKtook outמִן־הֵיכְלָאmin-he/khe/LAfrom the templeדִי־בִירוּשְׁלֶםdi-Vi/rush/LEMthat is in Jerusalemוְהֵיבֵלve/he/VELand broughtלְבָבֶלle/Va/VELto Babylonיַהֲתִיבוּןya/ha/ti/VUNbe restoredוִיהָךְvi/HAKHand goלְהֵיכְלָאle/he/khe/LAto the templeדִי־בִירוּשְׁלֶםdi-Vi/rush/LEMthat is in Jerusalemלְאַתְרֵהּle/at/REto its placeוְתַחֵתve/ta/CHETand you shall put themבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאֱלָהָא׃e/la/HAGod

   And also let the golden and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took forth out of the temple which is at Jerusalem, and brought unto Babylon, be restored, and brought again unto the temple which is at Jerusalem, every one to his place, and place them in the house of God.

   כְּעַןke/ANnow thereforeתַּתְּנַיTat/te/NAYTatnaiפַּחַתpa/CHATthe governor ofעֲבַר־נַהֲרָהa/VAR-na/ha/RAthe region beyond the riverשְׁתַרShe/TARShethar-בּוֹזְנַיboz/NAYboznaiוּכְנָוָתְהוֹןu/khe/na/va/te/HONand your companionsאֲפַרְסְכָיֵאA/far/se/kha/YEthe Apharsachitesדִּיdiwho areבַּעֲבַרba/a/VARin the region beyondנַהֲרָהna/ha/RAthe riverרַחִיקִיןra/chi/KINfarהֲווֹha/VObeמִן־תַּמָּה׃min-tam/MAfrom there

   Now therefore, Tatnai, governor beyond the river, Shethar-boznai, and your companions the Apharsachites, which are beyond the river, be ye far from thence:

   שְׁבֻקוּshe/VU/kuleave aloneלַעֲבִידַתla/a/vi/DATthe work ofבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדֵךְdekhthisפַּחַתpa/CHATlet the governor ofיְהוּדָיֵאYe/hu/da/YEthe Jewsוּלְשָׂבֵיu/le/sa/VEand the elders ofיְהוּדָיֵאYe/hu/da/YEthe Jewsבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדֵךְdekhthisיִבְנוֹןyiv/NONbuildעַל־אַתְרֵהּ׃al-at/REon its site

   Let the work of this house of God alone; let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build this house of God in his place.

   וּמִנִּיu/min/NIand from meשִׂיםsimis madeטְעֵםte/EMa decreeלְמָאle/MAconcerning whatדִי־תַעַבְדוּןdi-ta/av/DUNyou shall doעִם־שָׂבֵיim-sa/VEfor the elders ofיְהוּדָיֵאYe/hu/da/YEthe Jewsאִלֵּךְil/LEKHtheseלְמִבְנֵאle/miv/NEto buildבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדֵךְdekhthisוּמִנִּכְסֵיu/min/nikh/SEthat of the goods ofמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingדִּיdifromמִדַּתmid/DATthe tribute ofעֲבַרa/VARthe region beyondנַהֲרָהna/ha/RAthe riverאׇסְפַּרְנָאos/PAR/nadiligentlyנִפְקְתָאnif/ke/TAexpensesתֶּהֱוֵאte/he/VEbeמִתְיַהֲבָאmit/ya/ha/VAgivenלְגֻבְרַיָּאle/guv/ray/YAto the menאִלֵּךְil/LEKHtheseדִּי־לָאdi-lathat they notלְבַטָּלָא׃le/vat/ta/LAbe hindered

   Moreover I make a decree what ye shall do to the elders of these Jews for the building of this house of God: that of the king's goods, even of the tribute beyond the river, forthwith expenses be given unto these men, that they be not hindered.

   וּמָהu/MAand whatחַשְׁחָןchash/CHANthey needוּבְנֵיu/ve/NEboth youngתוֹרִיןto/RINbullsוְדִכְרִיןve/dikh/RINand ramsוְאִמְּרִיןve/im/me/RINand lambsלַעֲלָוָןla/a/la/VANfor burnt offeringsלֶאֱלָהּle/e/LAof the God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenחִנְטִיןchin/TINwheatמְלַחme/LACHsaltחֲמַרcha/MARwineוּמְשַׁחu/me/SHACHand oilכְּמֵאמַרke/me/MARaccording to the word ofכָּהֲנַיָּאka/ha/nay/YAthe priestsדִי־בִירוּשְׁלֶםdi-Vi/rush/LEMwho are in Jerusalemלֶהֱוֵאle/he/VElet it beמִתְיְהֵבmit/ye/HEVgivenלְהֹםle/HOMthemיוֹםyomdayבְּיוֹםbe/YOMby dayדִּי־לָאdi-lawithoutשָׁלוּ׃sha/LUfail

   And that which they have need of, both young bullocks, and rams, and lambs, for the burnt offerings of the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, and oil, according to the appointment of the priests which are at Jerusalem, let it be given them day by day without fail:

    דִּי־לֶהֱוֺןdi-le/he/VONthat they mayמְהַקְרְבִיןme/hak/re/VINofferנִיחוֹחִיןni/cho/CHINpleasing offeringsלֶאֱלָהּle/e/LAthe God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenוּמְצַלַּיִןu/me/tsal/LA/yinand prayלְחַיֵּיle/chay/YEfor the life ofמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingוּבְנוֹהִי׃u/ve/NO/hiand his sons

    That they may offer sacrifices of sweet savours unto the God of heaven, and pray for the life of the king, and of his sons.

11. 11

    וּמִנִּיu/min/NIand from meשִׂיםsimis madeטְעֵםte/EMa decreeדִּיdithatכׇל־אֱנָשׁkhol-e/NASHwhoeverדִּיdiwhoיְהַשְׁנֵאye/hash/NEaltersפִּתְגָמָאpit/ga/MAthe decreeדְנָהde/NAthisיִתְנְסַחyit/ne/SACHlet be pulled downאָעatimberמִן־בַּיְתֵהּmin-bay/TEfrom his houseוּזְקִיףu/ze/KIFand being set upיִתְמְחֵאyit/me/CHElet him be impaledעֲלֹהִיa/LO/hion itוּבַיְתֵהּu/vay/TEand his houseנְוָלוּne/va/LUa dunghillיִתְעֲבֵדyit/a/VEDbe madeעַל־דְּנָה׃al-de/NAfor this

    Also I have made a decree, that whosoever shall alter this word, let timber be pulled down from his house, and being set up, let him be hanged thereon; and let his house be made a dunghill for this.

    וֵאלָהָאve/la/HAand may Godדִּיdiwhoשַׁכִּןshak/KINhe has caused to dwellשְׁמֵהּshe/MEHis nameתַּמָּהtam/MAthereיְמַגַּרye/mag/GARoverthrowכׇּל־מֶלֶךְkol-ME/lekhevery kingוְעַםve/AMand peopleדִּיdithatיִשְׁלַחyish/LACHputיְדֵהּye/DEhis handלְהַשְׁנָיָהle/hash/na/YAto alterלְחַבָּלָהle/chab/ba/LAto destroyבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדֵךְdekhthisדִּיdithat isבִירוּשְׁלֶםVi/rush/LEMis in Jerusalemאֲנָהa/NAIדָרְיָוֶשׁDa/re/YA/veshDariusשָׂמֶתSA/methave madeטְעֵםte/EMa decreeאׇסְפַּרְנָאos/PAR/nadiligentlyיִתְעֲבִד׃yit/a/VIDlet it be done

    And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.

    Then Tatnai, governor on this side the river, Shethar-boznai, and their companions, according to that which Darius the king had sent, so they did speedily.

    וְשָׂבֵיve/sa/VEand the elders ofיְהוּדָיֵאYe/hu/da/YEthe Jewsבָּנַיִןba/NA/yinbuiltוּמַצְלְחִיןu/mats/le/CHINand prosperedבִּנְבוּאַתbin/vu/ATthrough the prophesying ofחַגַּיChag/GAYHaggai(נביאה)navayh[נְבִיָּא]ne/viy/YAthe prophetוּזְכַרְיָהu/Ze/khar/YAand Zechariahבַּר־עִדּוֹאbaR-id/DOthe son of Iddoוּבְנוֹu/ve/NOand they built itוְשַׁכְלִלוּve/shakh/LI/luand finished itמִן־טַעַםmin-TA/amby the command ofאֱלָהּe/LAthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּמִטְּעֵםu/mit/te/EMand by the decree ofכּוֹרֶשׁKO/reshCyrusוְדָרְיָוֶשׁve/Da/re/YA/veshand Dariusוְאַרְתַּחְשַׁשְׂתְּאve/Ar/tach/SHAS/teand ArtaxerxesמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofפָּרָס׃Pa/RASPersia

    And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.

15. 15

    וְשֵׁיצִיאve/she/TSIand was finishedבַּיְתָהbay/TAthe houseדְנָהde/NAthisעַדadonיוֹםyomdayתְּלָתָהte/la/TAthreeלִירַחli/RACHof the monthאֲדָרA/DARAdarדִּי־הִיאdi-hiwhich wasשְׁנַת־שֵׁתshe/NAT-shetthe sixth yearלְמַלְכוּתle/mal/KHUTof the reign ofדָּרְיָוֶשׁDa/re/YA/veshDariusמַלְכָּא׃mal/KAthe king

    And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.

16. 16

    וַעֲבַדוּva/a/VA/duand keptבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelכָּהֲנַיָּאka/ha/nay/YAthe priestsוְלֵוָיֵאve/Le/va/YEand the Levitesוּשְׁאָרu/she/ARand the rest ofבְּנֵי־גָלוּתָאbe/NE-ga/lu/TAthe children of the exileחֲנֻכַּתcha/nuk/KATthe dedication ofבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדְנָהde/NAthisבְּחֶדְוָה׃be/ched/VAwith joy

    And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of this house of God with joy,

    וְהַקְרִבוּve/hak/RI/vuand they offeredלַחֲנֻכַּתla/cha/nuk/KATfor the dedication ofבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדְנָהde/NAthisתּוֹרִיןto/RINbullsמְאָהme/Aa hundredדִּכְרִיןdikh/RINramsמָאתַיִןma/TA/yintwo hundredאִמְּרִיןim/me/RINlambsאַרְבַּעar/BAfourמְאָהme/Ahundredוּצְפִירֵיu/tse/fi/REand male goats ofעִזִּיןiz/ZINthe goats(לחטיא)lachatay[לְחַטָּאָה]le/chat/ta/Afor a sin offeringעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELfor all Israelתְּרֵי־עֲשַׂרte/RE-a/SARtwelveלְמִנְיָןle/min/YANaccording to the number ofשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And offered at the dedication of this house of God an hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs; and for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve he goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

18. 18

    וַהֲקִימוּva/ha/KI/muand they setכָהֲנַיָּאkha/ha/nay/YAthe priestsבִּפְלֻגָּתְהוֹןbif/lug/ga/te/HONin their divisionsוְלֵוָיֵאve/Le/va/YEand the Levitesבְּמַחְלְקָתְהוֹןbe/mach/le/ka/te/HONin their coursesעַל־עֲבִידַתal-a/vi/DATfor the service ofאֱלָהָאe/la/HAGodדִּיdiwhich isבִירוּשְׁלֶםVi/rush/LEMis in Jerusalemכִּכְתָבkikh/TAVas it is written inסְפַרse/FARthe book ofמֹשֶׁה׃Mo/SHEMoses

    And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

19. 19

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand keptבְנֵי־הַגּוֹלָהve/NE-hag/go/LAthe children of the exileאֶת־הַפָּסַחet-hap/PA/sachthe passoverבְּאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרbe/ar/ba/A-a/SARon the fourteenthלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthהָרִאשׁוֹן׃ha/ri/SHONthe first

    And the children of the captivity kept the passover upon the fourteenth day of the first month.

20. 20

    כִּיkiforהִטַּהֲרוּhit/ta/ha/RUthey had purified themselvesהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesכְּאֶחָדke/e/CHADas oneכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of them wereטְהוֹרִיםte/ho/RIMcleanוַיִּשְׁחֲטוּvay/yish/cha/TUand they slaughteredהַפֶּסַחhap/PE/sachthe passoverלְכׇל־בְּנֵיle/KHOL-be/NEfor all the children ofהַגּוֹלָהhag/go/LAthe exileוְלַאֲחֵיהֶםve/la/a/che/HEMand for their brothersהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְלָהֶם׃ve/la/HEMand for themselves

    For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelהַשָּׁבִיםhash/sha/VIMwho had returnedמֵהַגּוֹלָהme/hag/go/LAfrom the exileוְכֹלve/KHOLand allהַנִּבְדָּלhan/niv/DALwho had separated himselfמִטֻּמְאַתmit/tum/ATfrom the uncleanness ofגּוֹיֵ־הָאָרֶץgo/YE-ha/A/retsthe nations of the landאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themלִדְרֹשׁlid/ROSHto seekלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,

22. 22

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand keptחַג־מַצּוֹתchag-mats/TSOTthe feast of unleavened breadשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenיָמִיםya/MIMdaysבְּשִׂמְחָהbe/sim/CHAwith joyכִּיkiforשִׂמְּחָםsim/me/CHAMhad made them rejoiceיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְהֵסֵבve/he/SEVand had turnedלֵבlevthe heart ofמֶלֶךְ־אַשּׁוּרME/lekh-Ash/SHURthe king of Assyriaעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלְחַזֵּקle/chaz/ZEKto strengthenיְדֵיהֶםye/de/HEMtheir handsבִּמְלֶאכֶתbim/LE/khetin the work ofבֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִיםbet-ha/e/lo/HIMthe house of Godאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for the LORD had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
