Ezra 5 עֶזְרָא פרק ה׳

   Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.

   Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.

   בֵּהּ־זִמְנָאbe-zim/NAat that timeאֲתָהa/TAcameעֲלֵיהוֹןa/le/HONto themתַּתְּנַיTat/te/NAYTatnaiפַּחַתpa/CHATthe governor ofעֲבַר־נַהֲרָהa/VAR-na/ha/RAthe region beyond the riverוּשְׁתַרu/She/TARand Shethar-בּוֹזְנַיboz/NAYboznaiוּכְנָוָתְהוֹןu/khe/na/va/te/HONand their companionsוְכֵןve/KHENand soאָמְרִיןa/me/RINsaidלְהֹםle/HOMto themמַן־שָׂםman-samwho gaveלְכֹםle/KHOMyouטְעֵםte/EMa decreeבַּיְתָאbay/TAhouseדְנָהde/NAthisלִבְּנֵאlib/be/NEto buildוְאֻשַּׁרְנָאve/ush/shar/NAand the structureדְנָהde/NAthisלְשַׁכְלָלָה׃le/shakh/la/LAto finish

   At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?

   אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenכְּנֵמָאke/NE/mathusאֲמַרְנָאa/MAR/nawe saidלְּהֹםle/HOMto themמַן־אִנּוּןman-in/NUNwhat areשְׁמָהָתshe/ma/HATthe names ofגֻּבְרַיָּאguv/ray/YAthe menדִּי־דְנָהdi-de/NAwho thisבִנְיָנָאvin/ya/NAbuildingבָּנַיִן׃ba/NA/yinare building

   Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?

   וְעֵיןve/ENand the eye ofאֱלָהֲהֹםe/la/ha/HOMtheir Godהֲוָתha/VATwasעַל־שָׂבֵיal-sa/VEon the elders ofיְהוּדָיֵאYe/hu/da/YEthe Jewsוְלָא־בַטִּלוּve/LA-vat/TI/luand they did not make ceaseהִמּוֹhim/MOthemעַד־טַעְמָאad-ta/MAuntil the matterלְדָרְיָוֶשׁle/Da/re/YA/veshto Dariusיְהָךְye/HAKHshould goוֶאֱדַיִןve/e/DA/yinand thenיְתִיבוּןye/ti/VUNthey should returnנִשְׁתְּוָנָאnish/te/va/NAthe letterעַל־דְּנָה׃al-de/NAconcerning this

   But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter.

   The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar-boznai, and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:

   פִּתְגָמָאpit/ga/MAa letterשְׁלַחוּshe/LA/chuthey sentעֲלוֹהִיa/LO/hito himוְכִדְנָהve/khid/NAand thusכְּתִיבke/TIVwas writtenבְּגַוֵּהּbe/gav/VEin itלְדָרְיָוֶשׁle/Da/re/YA/veshto Dariusמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingשְׁלָמָאshe/la/MApeaceכֹלָּא׃KHOL/laall

   They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.

   יְדִיעַye/DI/aknownלֶהֱוֵאle/he/VElet it beלְמַלְכָּאle/mal/KAto the kingדִּי־אֲזַלְנָאdi-a/ZAL/nathat we wentלִיהוּדlI/HUDto Judahמְדִינְתָּאme/din/TAthe provinceלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofאֱלָהָאe/la/HAGodרַבָּאrab/BAthe greatוְהוּאve/HUand itמִתְבְּנֵאmit/be/NEis being builtאֶבֶןE/venwith stonesגְּלָלge/LALgreatוְאָעve/Aand timberמִתְּשָׂםmit/te/SAMis laidבְּכֻתְלַיָּאbe/khut/lay/YAin the wallsוַעֲבִידְתָּאva/a/VID/taand the workדָךְdakhthisאׇסְפַּרְנָאos/PAR/nadiligentlyמִתְעַבְדָאmit/av/DAgoes onוּמַצְלַחu/mats/LACHand prospersבְּיֶדְהֹם׃be/yed/HOMin their hands

   Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.

   אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenשְׁאֵלְנָאshe/EL/nawe askedלְשָׂבַיָּאle/sa/vay/YAthe eldersאִלֵּךְil/LEKHtheseכְּנֵמָאke/NE/mathusאֲמַרְנָאa/MAR/nawe saidלְּהֹםle/HOMto themמַן־שָׂםman-samwho gaveלְכֹםle/KHOMyouטְעֵםte/EMa decreeבַּיְתָאbay/TAhouseדְנָהde/NAthisלְמִבְנְיָהle/miv/ne/YAto buildוְאֻשַּׁרְנָאve/ush/shar/NAand structureדְנָהde/NAthisלְשַׁכְלָלָה׃le/shakh/la/LAto finish

   Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?

10. 10

    וְאַףve/AFand alsoשְׁמָהָתְהֹםshe/ma/ha/te/HOMtheir namesשְׁאֵלְנָאshe/EL/nawe askedלְּהֹםle/HOMthemלְהוֹדָעוּתָךְle/ho/da/u/TAKHto inform youדִּיdithatנִכְתֻּבnikh/TUVwe might writeשֻׁם־גֻּבְרַיָּאshum-guv/ray/YAthe names of the menדִּיdiwho wereבְרָאשֵׁיהֹם׃ve/ra/she/HOMat their head

    We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.

11. 11

    וּכְנֵמָאu/khe/NE/maand thusפִתְגָמָאfit/ga/MAanswerהֲתִיבוּנָאha/ti/VU/nathey returned usלְמֵמַרle/me/MARsayingאֲנַחְנָאa/NACH/naweהִמּוֹhim/MOareעַבְדוֹהִיav/DO/hithe servantsדִי־אֱלָהּdi-e/LAof the God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenוְאַרְעָאve/ar/Aand earthוּבָנַיִןu/va/NA/yinand are buildingבַּיְתָאbay/TAthe houseדִּי־הֲוָאdi-ha/VAthat wasבְנֵהve/NEbuiltמִקַּדְמַתmik/kad/MATbeforeדְּנָהde/NAthisשְׁנִיןshe/NINyearsשַׂגִּיאָןsag/gi/ANmanyוּמֶלֶךְu/ME/lekhwhich a kingלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELof Israelרַבravgreatבְּנָהִיbe/NA/hibuiltוְשַׁכְלְלֵהּ׃ve/shakh/le/LEand he finished it

    And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.

12. 12

    לָהֵןla/HENbutמִן־דִּיmin-dibecauseהַרְגִּזוּhar/GI/zuhad provokedאֲבָהָתַנָאa/va/ha/ta/NAour fathersלֶאֱלָהּle/e/LAthe God ofשְׁמַיָּאshe/may/YAheavenיְהַבye/HAVHe gaveהִמּוֹhim/MOthemבְּיַדbe/YADinto the hand ofנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּרNe/vu/khad/nets/TSARNebuchadnezzarמֶלֶךְ־בָּבֶלME/lekh-Ba/VELthe king of Babylon(כסדיא)khasaday[כַּסְדָּאָה]Kas/da/Athe Chaldeanוּבַיְתָהu/vay/TAand the houseדְנָהde/NAthisסַתְרֵהּsat/REwho destroyedוְעַמָּהve/am/MAand the peopleהַגְלִיhag/LIcarried awayלְבָבֶל׃le/Va/VELto Babylon

    But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

13. 13

    בְּרַםbe/RAMbutבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the year ofחֲדָהcha/DAoneלְכוֹרֶשׁle/KHO/reshof Cyrusמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingדִּיdiofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonכּוֹרֶשׁKO/reshCyrusמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingשָׂםsammadeטְעֵםte/EMa decreeבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of Godדְנָהde/NAthisלִבְּנֵא׃lib/be/NEto build

    But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.

14. 14

    וְאַףve/AFand alsoמָאנַיָּאma/nay/YAthe vesselsדִי־בֵית־אֱלָהָאdi-vet-e/la/HAof the house of Godדִּיdiofדַהֲבָהda/ha/VAgoldוְכַסְפָּאve/khas/PAand silverדִּיdiwhichנְבוּכַדְנֶצַּרNe/vu/khad/nets/TSARNebuchadnezzarהַנְפֵּקhan/PEKhad taken outמִן־הֵיכְלָאmin-he/khe/LAfrom the templeדִּיdithat wasבִירוּשְׁלֶםVi/rush/LEMis in Jerusalemוְהֵיבֵלve/he/VELand broughtהִמּוֹhim/MOthemלְהֵיכְלָאle/he/khe/LAinto the templeדִּיdiofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonהַנְפֵּקhan/PEKtook outהִמּוֹhim/MOthemכּוֹרֶשׁKO/reshCyrusמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingמִן־הֵיכְלָאmin-he/khe/LAfrom the templeדִּיdiofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonוִיהִיבוּvi/HI/vuand they were deliveredלְשֵׁשְׁבַּצַּרle/Shesh/bats/TSARto Sheshbazzarשְׁמֵהּshe/MEby nameדִּיdiwhomפֶחָהfe/CHAgovernorשָׂמֵהּ׃sa/MEhe had made

    And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

15. 15

    וַאֲמַר־לֵהּva/a/MAR-leand he said to him(אלה)lah[אֵל]eltheseמָאנַיָּאma/nay/YAvesselsשֵׂאsetakeאֵזֶל־אֲחֵתE/zel-a/CHETgo putהִמּוֹhim/MOthemבְּהֵיכְלָאbe/he/khe/LAin the templeדִּיdithat isבִירוּשְׁלֶםVi/rush/LEMis in Jerusalemוּבֵיתu/VETand let the house ofאֱלָהָאe/la/HAGodיִתְבְּנֵאyit/be/NEbe builtעַל־אַתְרֵהּ׃al-at/REon its site

    And said unto him, Take these vessels, go, carry them into the temple that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be builded in his place.

16. 16

    אֱדַיִןe/DA/yinthenשֵׁשְׁבַּצַּרShesh/bats/TSARSheshbazzarדֵּךְdekhthe sameאֲתָאa/TAcameיְהַבye/HAVand laidאֻשַּׁיָּאush/shay/YAthe foundationsדִּי־בֵיתdi-vetof the house ofאֱלָהָאe/la/HAGodדִּיdithat isבִירוּשְׁלֶםVi/rush/LEMis in Jerusalemוּמִן־אֱדַיִןu/MIN-e/DA/yinand since thenוְעַד־כְּעַןve/AD-ke/ANeven until nowמִתְבְּנֵאmit/be/NEit has been in buildingוְלָאve/LAand not yetשְׁלִם׃she/LIMis it finished

    Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished.

    וּכְעַןu/khe/ANnow thereforeהֵןhenifעַל־מַלְכָּאal-mal/KAto the kingטָבtavit seems goodיִתְבַּקַּרyit/bak/KARlet search be madeבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofגִּנְזַיָּאgin/zay/YAthe treasuresדִּי־מַלְכָּאdi-mal/KAof the kingתַמָּהtam/MAthereדִּיdiwhich isבְּבָבֶלbe/Va/VELin Babylonהֵןhenwhetherאִיתַיi/TAYit is soדִּי־מִן־כּוֹרֶשׁdi-min-KO/reshthat by Cyrusמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingשִׂיםsimwas givenטְעֵםte/EMa decreeלְמִבְנֵאle/miv/NEto buildבֵּית־אֱלָהָאbet-e/la/HAthe house of GodדֵךְdekhthisבִּירוּשְׁלֶםbI/rush/LEMin Jerusalemוּרְעוּתu/re/UTand the pleasure ofמַלְכָּאmal/KAthe kingעַל־דְּנָהal-de/NAconcerning thisיִשְׁלַחyish/LACHlet him sendעֲלֶינָא׃a/LE/nato us

    Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
