1. 1

   אִם־בַּמַּחְתֶּרֶתim-bam/mach/TE/retif in breaking inיִמָּצֵאyim/ma/TSEbe foundהַגַּנָּבhag/gan/NAVthe thiefוְהֻכָּהve/huk/KAand be smittenוָמֵתva/METso that he diesאֵיןenthere is noלוֹlofor himדָּמִים׃da/MIMblood

   If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

2. 2

   אִם־זָרְחָהim-za/re/CHAif has risenהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himדָּמִיםda/MIMbloodלוֹlofor himשַׁלֵּםshal/LEMrestoreיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe shall restoreאִם־אֵיןim-enif there is nothingלוֹlofor himוְנִמְכַּרve/nim/KARthen he shall be soldבִּגְנֵבָתוֹ׃big/ne/va/TOfor his theft

   If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

   אִם־הִמָּצֵאim-him/ma/TSEif foundתִמָּצֵאtim/ma/TSEbe foundבְיָדוֹve/ya/DOin his handהַגְּנֵבָהhag/ge/ne/VAthe stolen thingמִשּׁוֹרmish/SHORwhether oxעַד־חֲמוֹרad-cha/MORor donkeyעַד־שֶׂהad-seor sheepחַיִּיםchay/YIMaliveשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimdoubleיְשַׁלֵּם׃ye/shal/LEMhe shall restore

   If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

   כִּיkiifיַבְעֶר־אִישׁyav/ER-isha man grazesשָׂדֶהsa/DEa fieldאוֹ־כֶרֶםo-KHE/remor a vineyardוְשִׁלַּחve/shil/LACHand lets looseאֶת־בְּעִירֹהet-be/i/ROhis beastוּבִעֵרu/vi/ERand it feedsבִּשְׂדֵהbis/DEin the field ofאַחֵרa/CHERanotherמֵיטַבme/TAVof the best ofשָׂדֵהוּsa/DE/huhis own fieldוּמֵיטַבu/me/TAVand of the best ofכַּרְמוֹkar/MOhis own vineyardיְשַׁלֵּם׃ye/shal/LEMhe shall restore

   If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

   כִּי־תֵצֵאki-te/TSEif breaks outאֵשׁeshfireוּמָצְאָהu/ma/tse/Aand catchesקֹצִיםko/TSIMthornsוְנֶאֱכַלve/ne/e/KHALso that is consumedגָּדִישׁga/DISHthe stacked grainאוֹoorהַקָּמָהhak/ka/MAthe standing grainאוֹoorהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldשַׁלֵּםshal/LEMrestoreיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe shall restoreהַמַּבְעִרham/mav/IRhe who kindledאֶת־הַבְּעֵרָה׃et-hab/be/e/RAthe fire

   If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

   כִּי־יִתֵּןki-yit/TENif givesאִישׁisha manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huto his neighborכֶּסֶףKE/sefmoneyאוֹ־כֵלִיםo-khe/LIMor articlesלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepוְגֻנַּבve/gun/NAVand it is stolenמִבֵּיתmib/BETout of the house ofהָאִישׁha/ISHthe manאִם־יִמָּצֵאim-yim/ma/TSEif is foundהַגַּנָּבhag/gan/NAVthe thiefיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe shall payשְׁנָיִם׃she/NA/yimdouble

   If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

7. 7

   אִם־לֹאim-loif notיִמָּצֵאyim/ma/TSEbe foundהַגַּנָּבhag/gan/NAVthe thiefוְנִקְרַבve/nik/RAVthen shall be broughtבַּעַל־הַבַּיִתBA/al-hab/BA/yitthe master of the houseאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםel-ha/e/lo/HIMto the judgesאִם־לֹאim-loif notשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe has putיָדוֹya/DOhis handבִּמְלֶאכֶתbim/LE/khetto the goods ofרֵעֵהוּ׃re/E/huhis neighbor

   If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.

   עַל־כׇּל־דְּבַר־פֶּשַׁעal-kol-de/VAR-PE/shafor all manner of trespassעַל־שׁוֹרal-shorfor oxעַל־חֲמוֹרal-cha/MORfor donkeyעַל־שֶׂהal-sefor sheepעַל־שַׂלְמָהal-sal/MAfor raimentעַל־כׇּל־אֲבֵדָהal-kol-a/ve/DAfor any lost thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichיֹאמַרyo/MARone saysכִּי־הוּאki-huthat it isזֶהzethisעַדadbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMthe judgesיָבֹאya/VOshall comeדְּבַר־שְׁנֵיהֶםde/VAR-she/ne/HEMthe cause of bothאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichיַרְשִׁיעֻןyar/shi/UNshall condemnאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMthe judgesיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe shall payשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimdoubleלְרֵעֵהוּ׃le/re/E/huto his neighbor

   For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

   כִּי־יִתֵּןki-yit/TENif givesאִישׁisha manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huto his neighborחֲמוֹרcha/MORa donkeyאוֹ־שׁוֹרo-shoror an oxאוֹ־שֶׂהo-seor a sheepוְכׇל־בְּהֵמָהve/KHOL-be/he/MAor any beastלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepוּמֵתu/METand it diesאוֹ־נִשְׁבַּרo-nish/BARor is hurtאוֹ־נִשְׁבָּהo-nish/BAor is driven awayאֵיןenno manרֹאֶה׃ro/Eseeing

   If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

10. 10

    שְׁבֻעַתshe/vu/ATan oath ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beבֵּיןbenbetweenשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMthem bothאִם־לֹאim-lothat notשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe has putיָדוֹya/DOhis handבִּמְלֶאכֶתbim/LE/khetto the goods ofרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborוְלָקַחve/la/KACHand shall acceptבְּעָלָיוbe/a/LAYVits ownerוְלֹאve/LOand notיְשַׁלֵּם׃ye/shal/LEMhe shall make it good

    Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

11. 11

    וְאִם־גָּנֹבve/IM-ga/NOVand if stolenיִגָּנֵבyig/ga/NEVit be stolenמֵעִמּוֹme/im/MOfrom himיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe shall make restitutionלִבְעָלָיו׃liv/a/LAYVto its owner

    And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

12. 12

    אִם־טָרֹףim-ta/ROFif tornיִטָּרֵףyit/ta/REFit be torn in piecesיְבִאֵהוּye/vi/E/hulet him bring itעֵדedfor witnessהַטְּרֵפָהhat/te/re/FAthe tornלֹאlonotיְשַׁלֵּם׃ye/shal/LEMhe shall make good

    If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

13. 13

    וְכִי־יִשְׁאַלve/KHI-yish/ALand if borrowsאִישׁisha manמֵעִםme/IMofרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborוְנִשְׁבַּרve/nish/BARand it is hurtאוֹ־מֵתo-metor diesבְּעָלָיוbe/a/LAYVits ownerאֵין־עִמּוֹen-im/MOnot being with itשַׁלֵּםshal/LEMmake goodיְשַׁלֵּם׃ye/shal/LEMhe shall make good

    And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

14. 14

    אִם־בְּעָלָיוim-be/a/LAYVif its ownerעִמּוֹim/MOis with itלֹאlonotיְשַׁלֵּםye/shal/LEMhe shall make goodאִם־שָׂכִירim-sa/KHIRif a hired thingהוּאhuit isבָּאbait cameבִּשְׂכָרוֹ׃bis/kha/ROfor its hire

    But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

15. 15

    וְכִי־יְפַתֶּהve/KHI-ye/fat/TEand if enticesאִישׁisha manבְּתוּלָהbe/tu/LAa virginאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־אֹרָשָׂהlo-o/RA/sais not betrothedוְשָׁכַבve/sha/KHAVand liesעִמָּהּim/MAwith herמָהֹרma/HORendowיִמְהָרֶנָּהyim/ha/REN/nahe shall endow herלּוֹlofor himselfלְאִשָּׁה׃le/ish/SHAto wife

    And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

16. 16

    אִם־מָאֵןim-ma/ENif refuseיְמָאֵןye/ma/ENrefusesאָבִיהָa/VI/haher fatherלְתִתָּהּle/tit/TAto give herלוֹloto himכֶּסֶףKE/sefmoneyיִשְׁקֹלyish/KOLhe shall weighכְּמֹהַרke/MO/haraccording to the bride price ofהַבְּתוּלֹת׃hab/be/tu/LOTvirgins

    If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

17. 17

    מְכַשֵּׁפָהme/khash/she/FAa sorceressלֹאlonotתְחַיֶּה׃te/chay/YEyou shall let live

    Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

18. 18

    כׇּל־שֹׁכֵבkol-sho/KHEVwhoever liesעִם־בְּהֵמָהim-be/he/MAwith a beastמוֹתmotdieיוּמָת׃yu/MAThe shall be put to death

    Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

19. 19

    זֹבֵחַzo/VE/achhe who sacrificesלָאֱלֹהִיםla/e/lo/HIMto any godיׇחֳרָםyo/cho/RAMhe shall be utterly destroyedבִּלְתִּיbil/TIsaveלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDלְבַדּוֹ׃le/vad/DOonly

    He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

20. 20

    וְגֵרve/GERand a strangerלֹא־תוֹנֶהlo-to/NEyou shall not wrongוְלֹאve/LOnorתִלְחָצֶנּוּtil/cha/TSEN/nuoppress himכִּי־גֵרִיםki-ge/RIMfor strangersהֱיִיתֶםhe/yi/TEMyou wereבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofמִצְרָיִם׃Mits/RA/yimEgypt

    Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

21. 21

    כׇּל־אַלְמָנָהkol-al/ma/NAany widowוְיָתוֹםve/ya/TOMor fatherless childלֹאlonotתְעַנּוּן׃te/an/NUNshall you afflict

    Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

22. 22

    אִם־עַנֵּהim-an/NEif afflictתְעַנֶּהte/an/NEyou afflictאֹתוֹo/TOhimכִּיkiforאִם־צָעֹקim-tsa/OKif cryיִצְעַקyits/AKhe criesאֵלַיe/LAYunto meשָׁמֹעַsha/MO/ahearאֶשְׁמַעesh/MAI will hearצַעֲקָתוֹ׃tsa/a/ka/TOhis cry

    If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

23. 23

    וְחָרָהve/cha/RAand shall burnאַפִּיap/PImy angerוְהָרַגְתִּיve/ha/rag/TIand I will slayאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouבֶּחָרֶבbe/CHA/revwith the swordוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand shall beנְשֵׁיכֶםne/she/KHEMyour wivesאַלְמָנוֹתal/ma/NOTwidowsוּבְנֵיכֶםu/ve/ne/KHEMand your childrenיְתֹמִים׃ye/to/MIMfatherless

    And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

24. 24

    אִם־כֶּסֶףim-KE/sefif moneyתַּלְוֶהtal/VEyou lendאֶת־עַמִּיet-am/MIto my peopleאֶת־הֶעָנִיet-he/a/NIto the poorעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youלֹא־תִהְיֶהlo-tih/YEyou shall not beלוֹloto himכְּנֹשֶׁהke/no/SHEas a creditorלֹא־תְשִׂימוּןlo-te/si/MUNneither shall you layעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himנֶשֶׁךְ׃NE/shekhinterest

    If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

25. 25

    אִם־חָבֹלim-cha/VOLif take pledgeתַּחְבֹּלtach/BOLyou take as a pledgeשַׂלְמַתsal/MATthe garment ofרֵעֶךָre/E/khayour neighborעַד־בֹּאad-boby the going down ofהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunתְּשִׁיבֶנּוּte/shi/VEN/nuyou shall return itלוֹ׃loto him

    If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

26. 26

    כִּיkiforהִואhivthat isכְסוּתֹהkhe/su/TOhis coveringלְבַדָּהּle/vad/DAonlyהִואhivit isשִׂמְלָתוֹsim/la/TOhis garmentלְעֹרוֹle/o/ROfor his skinבַּמֶּהbam/MEin whatיִשְׁכָּבyish/KAVshall he sleepוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall come to passכִּי־יִצְעַקki-yits/AKwhen he criesאֵלַיe/LAYto meוְשָׁמַעְתִּיve/sha/ma/TIthat I will hearכִּי־חַנּוּןki-chan/NUNfor graciousאָנִי׃A/niam I

    For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

27. 27

    אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMthe judgesלֹאlonotתְקַלֵּלte/kal/LELyou shall revileוְנָשִׂיאve/na/SInor a rulerבְעַמְּךָve/am/me/KHAof your peopleלֹאlonotתָאֹר׃ta/ORshall you curse

    Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

28. 28

    מְלֵאָתְךָme/le/a/te/KHAyour abundanceוְדִמְעֲךָve/dim/a/KHAand your liquorsלֹאlonotתְאַחֵרte/a/CHERyou shall delayבְּכוֹרbe/KHORthe firstborn ofבָּנֶיךָba/NE/khayour sonsתִּתֶּן־לִי׃tit/TEN-liyou shall give to me

    Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

29. 29

    כֵּן־תַּעֲשֶׂהken-ta/a/SEso shall you doלְשֹׁרְךָle/shor/KHAwith your oxenלְצֹאנֶךָle/tso/NE/khaand with your sheepשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenיָמִיםya/MIMdaysיִהְיֶהyih/YEit shall beעִם־אִמּוֹim-im/MOwith its motherבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁמִינִיhash/she/mi/NIthe eighthתִּתְּנוֹ־לִי׃tit/te/NO-liyou shall give it to me

    Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

30. 30

    וְאַנְשֵׁי־קֹדֶשׁve/an/SHE-KO/deshand holy menתִּהְיוּןtih/YUNyou shall beלִיlito meוּבָשָׂרu/va/SARtherefore fleshבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldטְרֵפָהte/re/FAtornלֹאlonotתֹאכֵלוּto/KHE/lushall you eatלַכֶּלֶבlak/KE/levto the dogתַּשְׁלִכוּןtash/li/KHUNyou shall castאֹתוֹ׃o/TOit

    And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
