    אִם־בַּמַּחְתֶּרֶתif breaking upיִמָּצֵאbe foundהַגַּנָּבthe thiefוְהֻכָּהand be smittenוָמֵתthat he dieאֵיןthere shall noלוֹfor himדָּמִים׃blood be shed

    If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

    אִם־זָרְחָהif be risenהַשֶּׁמֶשׁthe sunעָלָיוupon himדָּמִיםblood shall be shedלוֹfor himשַׁלֵּםsurelyיְשַׁלֵּםhe shall restoreאִם־אֵיןif he have nothingלוֹfor himוְנִמְכַּרhe shall be soldבִּגְנֵבָתוֹ׃for his theft

    If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

    אִם־הִמָּצֵאif be certainlyתִמָּצֵאfoundבְיָדוֹin his handהַגְּנֵבָהthe theftמִשּׁוֹרwhether it be oxעַד־חֲמוֹרor donkeyעַד־שֶׂהunto a sheepחַיִּיםaliveשְׁנַיִםdoubleיְשַׁלֵּם׃he shall restore

    If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

    כִּיifיַבְעֶר־אִישׁshall cause a manשָׂדֶהa fieldאוֹ־כֶרֶםor vineyardוְשִׁלַּחand shall put inאֶת־בְּעִירֹהhis beastוּבִעֵרand shall feedבִּשְׂדֵהin another man's fieldאַחֵרotherמֵיטַבof the best ofשָׂדֵהוּhis own fieldוּמֵיטַבand of the best ofכַּרְמוֹhis own vineyardיְשַׁלֵּם׃he shall restore

    If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

    כִּי־תֵצֵאif break outאֵשׁfireוּמָצְאָהand catchקֹצִיםin thornsוְנֶאֱכַלso that be consumedגָּדִישׁthe stacks of cornאוֹorהַקָּמָהthe standing cornאוֹorהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldשַׁלֵּםsurelyיְשַׁלֵּםhe shall restoreהַמַּבְעִרhe that kindledאֶת־הַבְּעֵרָה׃the fire

    If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

    כִּי־יִתֵּןif shall giveאִישׁa manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּunto his neighborכֶּסֶףmoneyאוֹ־כֵלִיםor goodsלִשְׁמֹרto keepוְגֻנַּבand it be stolenמִבֵּיתfrom the house ofהָאִישׁthe manאִם־יִמָּצֵאif be foundהַגַּנָּבthe thiefיְשַׁלֵּםhe shall restoreשְׁנָיִם׃double

    If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

    אִם־לֹאif notיִמָּצֵאfoundהַגַּנָּבthe thiefוְנִקְרַבthen shall be broughtבַּעַל־הַבַּיִתthe master of the houseאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםunto Godאִם־לֹאif notשָׁלַחhe have putיָדוֹhis handבִּמְלֶאכֶתin the work ofרֵעֵהוּ׃his neighbor

    If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.

    עַל־כׇּל־דְּבַר־פֶּשַׁעfor all manner of trespassעַל־שׁוֹרfor oxעַל־חֲמוֹרfor donkeyעַל־שֶׂהfor sheepעַל־שַׂלְמָהfor raimentעַל־כׇּל־אֲבֵדָהfor any manner of lost thingאֲשֶׁרwhichיֹאמַרshall sayכִּי־הוּאthat it isזֶהthisעַדbeforeהָאֱלֹהִיםthe Godיָבֹאshall comeדְּבַר־שְׁנֵיהֶםthe cause of both partiesאֲשֶׁרwhichיַרְשִׁיעֻןshall condemnאֱלֹהִיםthe judgesיְשַׁלֵּםhe shall restoreשְׁנַיִםdoubleלְרֵעֵהוּ׃unto his neighbor

    For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

    כִּי־יִתֵּןif shall giveאִישׁa manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּunto his neighborחֲמוֹרa donkeyאוֹ־שׁוֹרor an oxאוֹ־שֶׂהor a sheepוְכׇל־בְּהֵמָהor any beastלִשְׁמֹרto keepוּמֵתand it dieאוֹ־נִשְׁבַּרor be hurtאוֹ־נִשְׁבָּהor driven awayאֵיןno manרֹאֶה׃seeing it

    If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

  10. 10

    שְׁבֻעַתan oath ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDתִּהְיֶהshall beבֵּיןbetweenשְׁנֵיהֶםthe twoאִם־לֹאif notשָׁלַחhe has putיָדוֹhis handבִּמְלֶאכֶתin the work ofרֵעֵהוּhis neighborוְלָקַחand shall acceptבְּעָלָיוthe owner of itוְלֹאand notיְשַׁלֵּם׃he shall make it good

    Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

  11. 11

    וְאִם־גָּנֹבand if surelyיִגָּנֵבit be stolenמֵעִמּוֹfrom himיְשַׁלֵּםhe shall make restitutionלִבְעָלָיו׃unto the owner thereof

    And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

  12. 12

    אִם־טָרֹףif surelyיִטָּרֵףit be torn in piecesיְבִאֵהוּlet him bring itעֵדfor witnessהַטְּרֵפָהthat which was tornלֹאnotיְשַׁלֵּם׃he shall make good

    If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

  13. 13

    וְכִי־יִשְׁאַלand if borrowאִישׁa manמֵעִםofרֵעֵהוּhis neighborוְנִשְׁבַּרand it be hurtאוֹ־מֵתor dieבְּעָלָיוthe owner thereofאֵין־עִמּוֹbeing not with itשַׁלֵּםsurelyיְשַׁלֵּם׃he shall restore

    And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

  14. 14

    אִם־בְּעָלָיוif the owner thereofעִמּוֹbe with itלֹאnotיְשַׁלֵּםhe shall restoreאִם־שָׂכִירif it be a hired thingהוּאit isבָּאit cameבִּשְׂכָרוֹ׃for his hire

    But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

  15. 15

    וְכִי־יְפַתֶּהand if enticeאִישׁa manבְּתוּלָהa maidאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־אֹרָשָׂהthat is not betrothedוְשָׁכַבand lieעִמָּהּwith herמָהֹרsurelyיִמְהָרֶנָּהhe shall endow herלּוֹto himלְאִשָּׁה׃for wife

    And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

  16. 16

    אִם־מָאֵןif utterlyיְמָאֵןrefuseאָבִיהָher fatherלְתִתָּהּto her giveלוֹunto himכֶּסֶףmoneyיִשְׁקֹלhe shall payכְּמֹהַרaccording to the dowry ofהַבְּתוּלֹת׃the virgins

    If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

  17. 17

    מְכַשֵּׁפָהa witchלֹאnotתְחַיֶּה׃you shall let live

    Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

  18. 18

    כׇּל־שֹׁכֵבwhoever liesעִם־בְּהֵמָהwith beastמוֹתsurelyיוּמָת׃he shall be put to death

    Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

  19. 19

    זֹבֵחַhe that sacrificesלָאֱלֹהִיםunto any godיׇחֳרָםhe shall be utterly destroyedבִּלְתִּיsaveלַיהֹוָהto the LORDלְבַדּוֹ׃only

    He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

  20. 20

    וְגֵרand a sojournerלֹא־תוֹנֶהyou shall not vexוְלֹאand notתִלְחָצֶנּוּoppress himכִּי־גֵרִיםfor sojournersהֱיִיתֶםyou wereבְּאֶרֶץin the land ofמִצְרָיִם׃Egypt

    Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

  21. 21

    כׇּל־אַלְמָנָהany widowוְיָתוֹםor fatherless childלֹאnotתְעַנּוּן׃you shall afflict

    Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

  22. 22

    אִם־עַנֵּהif you afflictתְעַנֶּהin any wiseאֹתוֹhimכִּיforאִם־צָעֹקif at allיִצְעַקhe criesאֵלַיunto MeשָׁמֹעַsurelyאֶשְׁמַעI will hearצַעֲקָתוֹ׃his cry

    If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

  23. 23

    וְחָרָהand shall wax hotאַפִּיMy angerוְהָרַגְתִּיand I will killאֶתְכֶםyouבֶּחָרֶבby the swordוְהָיוּthen they shall beנְשֵׁיכֶםyour wivesאַלְמָנוֹתwidowsוּבְנֵיכֶםand your sonsיְתֹמִים׃fatherless

    And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

  24. 24

    אִם־כֶּסֶףif moneyתַּלְוֶהyou lend toאֶת־עַמִּיmy peopleאֶת־הֶעָנִיthe poorעִמָּךְwith youלֹא־תִהְיֶהyou shall not beלוֹto himכְּנֹשֶׁהas a usurerלֹא־תְשִׂימוּןneither shall you layעָלָיוupon himנֶשֶׁךְ׃usury

    If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

  25. 25

    אִם־חָבֹלif you at allתַּחְבֹּלyou take to pledgeשַׂלְמַתthe raiment ofרֵעֶךָyour neighborעַד־בֹּאuntil goes downהַשֶּׁמֶשׁthe sunתְּשִׁיבֶנּוּyou shall restore itלוֹ׃to him

    If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

  26. 26

    כִּיbecauseהִואit isכְסוּתֹהhis coveringלְבַדָּהּonlyהִואit isשִׂמְלָתוֹhis raimentלְעֹרוֹfor his skinבַּמֶּהwhereinיִשְׁכָּבshall he sleepוְהָיָהand beכִּי־יִצְעַקwhen he criesאֵלַיto meוְשָׁמַעְתִּיthat I will hearכִּי־חַנּוּןfor graciousאָנִי׃am I

    For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

  27. 27

    אֱלֹהִיםGodלֹאnotתְקַלֵּלyou shall revileוְנָשִׂיאnor a rulerבְעַמְּךָof your peopleלֹאnotתָאֹר׃curse

    Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

  28. 28

    מְלֵאָתְךָyour ripe fruitsוְדִמְעֲךָand your liquorsלֹאnotתְאַחֵרyou shall delayבְּכוֹרthe firstborn ofבָּנֶיךָyour sonsתִּתֶּן־לִי׃you shall give unto Me

    Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

  29. 29

    כֵּן־תַּעֲשֶׂהlikewise shall you doלְשֹׁרְךָwith your oxenלְצֹאנֶךָand with your sheepשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִיםdaysיִהְיֶהshall beעִם־אִמּוֹwith his motherבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁמִינִיthe eighthתִּתְּנוֹ־לִי׃you shall give it Me

    Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

  30. 30

    וְאַנְשֵׁי־קֹדֶשׁand holy menתִּהְיוּןshall you beלִיunto Meוּבָשָׂרand any fleshבַּשָּׂדֶהin the fieldטְרֵפָהtorn of beastsלֹאnotתֹאכֵלוּyou shall eatלַכֶּלֶבto the dogsתַּשְׁלִכוּןyou shall castאֹתוֹ׃it

    And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
