   וַיִּסְעוּvay/yis/Uand journeyedכׇּל־עֲדַתkol-a/DATall the congregation ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelמִמִּדְבַּר־סִיןmim/Mid/BAR-sinfrom the wilderness of Sinלְמַסְעֵיהֶםle/mas/e/HEMby their journeysעַל־פִּיal-piaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand encampedבִּרְפִידִיםBir/fi/DIMat Rephidimוְאֵיןve/ENand there was noמַיִםMA/yimwaterלִשְׁתֹּתlish/TOTfor to drinkהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

   And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.

   וַיָּרֶבvay/YA/revand stroveהָעָםha/AMthe peopleעִם־מֹשֶׁהim-Mo/SHEwith Mosesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidתְּנוּ־לָנוּte/NU-LA/nugive usמַיִםMA/yimwaterוְנִשְׁתֶּהve/nish/TEthat we may drinkוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesמַה־תְּרִיבוּןma-te/ri/VUNwhy do you striveעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meמַה־תְּנַסּוּןma-te/nas/SUNwhy do you temptאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃et-Adonaithe LORD

   Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?

   וַיִּצְמָאvay/yits/MAand thirstedשָׁםshamthereהָעָםha/AMthe peopleלַמַּיִםlam/MA/yimfor waterוַיָּלֶןvay/YA/lenand murmuredהָעָםha/AMthe peopleעַל־מֹשֶׁהal-Mo/SHEagainst Mosesוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָמָּהLAM/mawhyזֶּהzeis this thatהֶעֱלִיתָנוּhe/e/li/TA/nuyou have brought us upמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITto killאֹתִיo/TImeוְאֶת־בָּנַיve/ET-ba/NAYand my sonsוְאֶת־מִקְנַיve/ET-mik/NAYand my livestockבַּצָּמָא׃bats/tsa/MAwith thirst

   And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

   וַיִּצְעַקvay/yits/AKand criedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhatאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEshall I doלָעָםla/AMwith the peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעוֹדodyetמְעַטme/ATa littleוּסְקָלֻנִי׃u/se/ka/LU/niand they will stone me

   And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesעֲבֹרa/VORpass onלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוְקַחve/KACHand takeאִתְּךָit/te/KHAwith youמִזִּקְנֵיmiz/zik/NEof the elders ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּמַטְּךָu/mat/te/KHAand your staffאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichהִכִּיתָhik/KI/tayou smoteבּוֹbowith itאֶת־הַיְאֹרet-Hay/ORthe Nileקַחkachtakeבְּיָדְךָbe/ya/de/KHAin your handוְהָלָכְתָּ׃ve/ha/LAKH/taand go

   And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.

   הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iעֹמֵדo/MEDwill standלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youשָּׁםshamthereעַל־הַצּוּרal-hats/TSURupon the rockבְּחֹרֵבbe/Cho/REVat Horebוְהִכִּיתָve/hik/ki/TAand you shall smiteבַצּוּרvats/TSURthe rockוְיָצְאוּve/ya/tse/Uand shall come forthמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuout of itמַיִםMA/yimwaterוְשָׁתָהve/sha/TAthat may drinkהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didכֵּןkensoמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלְעֵינֵיle/e/NEin the sight ofזִקְנֵיzik/NEthe elders ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledשֵׁםshemthe name ofהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeמַסָּהMas/SAMassahוּמְרִיבָהu/Me/ri/VAand Meribahעַל־רִיבal-rivbecause of the strife ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְעַלve/ALand becauseנַסֹּתָםnas/so/TAMthey temptedאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהֲיֵשׁha/YESHisיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּקִרְבֵּנוּbe/kir/BE/nuamong usאִם־אָיִן׃im-A/yinor not

   And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekוַיִּלָּחֶםvay/yil/LA/chemand foughtעִם־יִשְׂרָאֵלim-Yis/ra/ELwith Israelבִּרְפִידִם׃Bir/fi/DIMat Rephidim

   Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaבְּחַר־לָנוּbe/CHAR-LA/nuchoose usאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוְצֵאve/TSEand go outהִלָּחֵםhil/la/CHEMfightבַּעֲמָלֵקba/A/ma/LEKagainst Amalekמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIנִצָּבnits/TSAVwill standעַל־רֹאשׁal-roshon the top ofהַגִּבְעָהhag/giv/Athe hillוּמַטֵּהu/mat/TEand the staff ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodבְּיָדִי׃be/ya/DIin my hand

   And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַר־לוֹa/MAR-lohad said to himמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightבַּעֲמָלֵקba/A/ma/LEKagainst Amalekוּמֹשֶׁהu/Mo/SHEand MosesאַהֲרֹןA/ha/RONAaronוְחוּרve/CHURand Hurעָלוּa/LUwent up toרֹאשׁroshthe top ofהַגִּבְעָה׃hag/giv/Athe hill

    So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָרִיםya/RIMheld upמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesיָדוֹya/DOhis handוְגָבַרve/ga/VARthat prevailedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand whenיָנִיחַya/NI/achhe let downיָדוֹya/DOhis handוְגָבַרve/ga/VARprevailedעֲמָלֵק׃A/ma/LEKAmalek

    And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

    וִידֵיvi/DEbut the hands ofמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesכְּבֵדִיםke/ve/DIMwere heavyוַיִּקְחוּ־אֶבֶןvay/yik/CHU-E/venand they took a stoneוַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/muand put itתַחְתָּיוtach/TAYVunder himוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand he satעָלֶיהָa/LE/haupon itוְאַהֲרֹןve/A/ha/RONand Aaronוְחוּרve/CHURand HurתָּמְכוּTAM/khustayed upבְיָדָיוve/ya/DAYVhis handsמִזֶּהmiz/ZEon this sideאֶחָדe/CHADoneוּמִזֶּהu/miz/ZEand on that sideאֶחָדe/CHADoneוַיְהִיvay/HIand wereיָדָיוya/DAYVhis handsאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAsteadyעַד־בֹּאad-bountil the going down ofהַשָּׁמֶשׁ׃hash/SHA/meshthe sun

    But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

    וַיַּחֲלֹשׁvay/ya/cha/LOSHand discomfitedיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־עֲמָלֵקet-A/ma/LEKAmalekוְאֶת־עַמּוֹve/ET-am/MOand his peopleלְפִי־חָרֶב׃le/FI-CHA/revwith the edge of the sword

    And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesכְּתֹבke/TOVwriteזֹאתzotthisזִכָּרוֹןzik/ka/RONfor a memorialבַּסֵּפֶרbas/SE/ferin the bookוְשִׂיםve/SIMand rehearse itבְּאׇזְנֵיbe/oz/NEin the ears ofיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaכִּי־מָחֹהki-ma/CHOfor blot outאֶמְחֶהem/CHEI will blot outאֶת־זֵכֶרet-ZE/kherthe remembrance ofעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom underהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimheaven

    And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.

15. 15

    וַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achan altarוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledשְׁמוֹshe/MOits nameיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנִסִּי׃nis/SImy banner

    And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-nissi:

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidכִּי־יָדki-yadbecause the handעַל־כֵּסal-kesupon the throne ofיָהּyathe LORDמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaithe LORD hasבַּעֲמָלֵקba/A/ma/LEKwith Amalekמִדֹּרmid/DORfrom generationדֹּר׃dorto generation

    For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
