Daniel 10 דָּנִיֵּאל פרק י׳

   In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

   In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.

3. 3

   לֶחֶםLE/chembreadחֲמֻדוֹתcha/mu/DOTpleasantלֹאlonotאָכַלְתִּיa/KHAL/tiI ateוּבָשָׂרu/va/SARand meatוָיַיִןva/YA/yinand wineלֹא־בָאlo-vacameאֶל־פִּיel-piinto my mouthוְסוֹךְve/SOKHand anointלֹא־סָכְתִּיlo-SAKH/tiI did not anoint myselfעַד־מְלֹאתad-me/LOTuntil were fulfilledשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeשָׁבֻעִיםsha/vu/IMweeksיָמִים׃ya/MIMof days

   I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

   And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;

   וָאֶשָּׂאva/es/SAand I liftedאֶת־עֵינַיet-e/NAYmy eyesוָאֵרֶאva/E/reand I sawוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאִישׁ־אֶחָדish-e/CHADa certain manלָבוּשׁla/VUSHclothed inבַּדִּיםbad/DIMlinenוּמׇתְנָיוu/mot/NAYVand his loinsחֲגֻרִיםcha/gu/RIMgirdedבְּכֶתֶםbe/KHE/temwith fine gold ofאוּפָז׃U/FAZUphaz

   Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:

   וּגְוִיָּתוֹu/ge/viy/ya/TOand his bodyכְתַרְשִׁישׁkhe/tar/SHISHlike berylוּפָנָיוu/fa/NAYVand his faceכְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Elike the appearance ofבָרָקva/RAKlightningוְעֵינָיוve/e/NAYVand his eyesכְּלַפִּידֵיke/lap/PI/delike torches ofאֵשׁeshfireוּזְרֹעֹתָיוu/ze/ro/o/TAYVand his armsוּמַרְגְּלֹתָיוu/mar/ge/lo/TAYVand his feetכְּעֵיןke/ENlike the gleam ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeקָלָלka/LALburnishedוְקוֹלve/KOLand the sound ofדְּבָרָיוde/va/RAYVhis wordsכְּקוֹלke/KOLlike the sound ofהָמוֹן׃ha/MONa multitude

   His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

   וְרָאִיתִיve/ra/I/tiand sawאֲנִיa/NIIדָנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneאֶת־הַמַּרְאָהet-ham/mar/Athe visionוְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהָיוּha/YUwereעִמִּיim/MIwith meלֹאlonotרָאוּra/Usawאֶת־הַמַּרְאָהet-ham/mar/Athe visionאֲבָלa/VALbutחֲרָדָהcha/ra/DAtremblingגְדֹלָהge/do/LAgreatנָפְלָהna/fe/LAfellעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMupon themוַיִּבְרְחוּvay/yiv/re/CHUand they fledבְּהֵחָבֵא׃be/he/cha/VEto hide themselves

   And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iנִשְׁאַרְתִּיnish/AR/tiwas leftלְבַדִּיle/vad/DIaloneוָאֶרְאֶהva/er/Eand I sawאֶת־הַמַּרְאָהet-ham/mar/Athe visionהַגְּדֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisוְלֹאve/LOand notנִשְׁאַר־בִּיnish/AR-biremained in meכֹּחַKO/achpowerוְהוֹדִיve/ho/DIand my splendorנֶהְפַּךְneh/PAKHwas turnedעָלַיa/LAYin meלְמַשְׁחִיתle/mash/CHITto ruinוְלֹאve/LOand notעָצַרְתִּיa/TSAR/tidid I retainכֹּחַ׃KO/achpower

   Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

   וָאֶשְׁמַעva/esh/MAand I heardאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe voice ofדְּבָרָיוde/va/RAYVhis wordsוּכְשׇׁמְעִיu/khe/shom/Iand when I heardאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe voice ofדְּבָרָיוde/va/RAYVhis wordsוַאֲנִיva/a/NIthen Iהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiwasנִרְדָּםnir/DAMin a deep sleepעַל־פָּנַיal-pa/NAYon my faceוּפָנַיu/fa/NAYwith my faceאָרְצָה׃AR/tsato the ground

   Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

10. 10

    וְהִנֵּה־יָדve/hin/NE-yadand behold a handנָגְעָהNAG/atouchedבִּיbimeוַתְּנִיעֵנִיvat/te/ni/E/niand set me tremblingעַל־בִּרְכַּיal-bir/KAYon my kneesוְכַפּוֹתve/khap/POTand the palms ofיָדָי׃ya/DAYmy hands

    And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meדָּנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielאִישׁ־חֲמֻדוֹתish-cha/mu/DOTO man greatly belovedהָבֵןha/VENunderstandבַּדְּבָרִיםbad/de/va/RIMthe wordsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIדֹבֵרdo/VERspeakאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוַעֲמֹדva/a/MODand standעַל־עׇמְדֶךָal-om/DE/khain your placeכִּיkiforעַתָּהat/TAnowשֻׁלַּחְתִּיshul/LACH/tiI have been sentאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוּבְדַבְּרוֹu/ve/dab/be/ROand when he spokeעִמִּיim/MIwith meאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעָמַדְתִּיa/MAD/tiI stoodמַרְעִיד׃mar/IDtrembling

    And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearדָנִיֵּאלDa/niy/YELDanielכִּיkiforמִן־הַיּוֹםmin-hay/YOMfrom the dayהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָתַתָּna/TAT/tayou setאֶת־לִבְּךָet-lib/be/KHAyour heartלְהָבִיןle/ha/VINto understandוּלְהִתְעַנּוֹתu/le/hit/an/NOTand to humble yourselfלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godנִשְׁמְעוּnish/me/Uwere heardדְבָרֶיךָde/va/RE/khayour wordsוַאֲנִי־בָאתִיva/a/NI-VA/tiand I have comeבִּדְבָרֶיךָ׃bid/va/RE/khabecause of your words

    Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

    וְשַׂרve/SARbut the prince ofמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofפָּרַסPa/RASPersiaעֹמֵדo/MEDstoodלְנֶגְדִּיle/neg/DIagainst meעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוְאֶחָדve/e/CHADand oneיוֹםyomdayוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמִיכָאֵלMi/kha/ELMichaelאַחַדa/CHADone ofהַשָּׂרִיםhas/sa/RIMthe princesהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMchiefבָּאbacameלְעׇזְרֵנִיle/oz/RE/nito help meוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iנוֹתַרְתִּיno/TAR/tiremainedשָׁםshamthereאֵצֶלE/tselbesideמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofפָרָס׃Fa/RASPersia

    But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

14. 14

    וּבָאתִיu/VA/tiand I have comeלַהֲבִינְךָla/ha/vi/ne/KHAto make you understandאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־יִקְרָהet-a/SHER-yik/RAwhat will befallלְעַמְּךָle/am/me/KHAyour peopleבְּאַחֲרִיתbe/a/cha/RITin the latter part ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysכִּי־עוֹדki-odfor yetחָזוֹןcha/ZONthe vision isלַיָּמִים׃lay/ya/MIMfor days

    Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.

15. 15

    וּבְדַבְּרוֹu/ve/dab/be/ROand as he spokeעִמִּיim/MIwith meכַּדְּבָרִיםkad/de/va/RIMaccording to the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI setפָנַיfa/NAYmy faceאַרְצָהAR/tsatoward the groundוְנֶאֱלָמְתִּי׃ve/ne/e/LAM/tiand became mute

    And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.

16. 16

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdכִּדְמוּתkid/MUTone like the likeness ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאָדָםa/DAMmenנֹגֵעַno/GE/atouchedעַל־שְׂפָתָיal-se/fa/TAYmy lipsוָאֶפְתַּח־פִּיva/ef/TACH-piand I opened my mouthוָאֲדַבְּרָהva/a/dab/be/RAand I spokeוָאֹמְרָהva/om/RAand I saidאֶל־הָעֹמֵדel-ha/o/MEDto the one standingלְנֶגְדִּיle/neg/DIbefore meאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordבַּמַּרְאָהbam/mar/Aby the visionנֶהֶפְכוּne/hef/KHUhave comeצִירַיtsi/RAYmy pangsעָלַיa/LAYupon meוְלֹאve/LOand notעָצַרְתִּיa/TSAR/tihave I retainedכֹּחַ׃KO/achpower

    And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.

17. 17

    וְהֵיךְve/HEKHand howיוּכַלyu/KHALcanעֶבֶדE/vedthe servant ofאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordזֶהzethisלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERspeakעִם־אֲדֹנִיim-a/do/NIwith my lordזֶהzethisוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iמֵעַתָּהme/at/TAfrom nowלֹא־יַעֲמׇד־בִּיlo-ya/a/MOD-bithere remains in me noכֹחַKHO/achstrengthוּנְשָׁמָהu/ne/sha/MAand breathלֹאlonotנִשְׁאֲרָה־בִי׃nish/a/RA-viis left in me

    For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.

18. 18

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againוַיִּגַּע־בִּיvay/yig/GA-bitouched meכְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eone like the appearance ofאָדָםa/DAMa manוַיְחַזְּקֵנִי׃vay/chaz/ze/KE/niand he strengthened me

    Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearאִישׁ־חֲמֻדוֹתish-cha/mu/DOTO man greatly belovedשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceלָךְlakhto youחֲזַקcha/ZAKbe strongוַחֲזָקva/cha/ZAKyes be strongוּכְדַבְּרוֹu/khe/dab/be/ROand when he spokeעִמִּיim/MIwith meהִתְחַזַּקְתִּיhit/chaz/ZAK/tiI was strengthenedוָאֹמְרָהva/om/RAand I saidיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERlet speakאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordכִּיkiforחִזַּקְתָּנִי׃chiz/zak/TA/niyou have strengthened me

    And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהֲיָדַעְתָּha/ya/DA/tado you knowלָמָּה־בָּאתִיLAM/ma-BA/tiwhy I have comeאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאָשׁוּבa/SHUVI will returnלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightעִם־שַׂרim-sarwith the prince ofפָּרָסPa/RASPersiaוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iיוֹצֵאyo/TSEgo outוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdשַׂר־יָוָןsar-Ya/VANthe prince of Greeceבָּא׃bawill come

    Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

21. 21

    אֲבָלa/VALbutאַגִּידag/GIDI will tellלְךָle/KHAyouאֶת־הָרָשׁוּםet-ha/ra/SHUMwhat is inscribedבִּכְתָבbikh/TAVin the writing ofאֱמֶתe/METtruthוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noneאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִתְחַזֵּקmit/chaz/ZEKwho holds stronglyעִמִּיim/MIwith meעַל־אֵלֶּהal-EL/leagainst theseכִּיkibutאִם־מִיכָאֵלim-Mi/kha/ELrather Michaelשַׂרְכֶם׃sar/KHEMyour prince

    But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
