   Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

   He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

   Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

   And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasלִדְרֹשׁlid/ROSHseekingאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofזְכַרְיָהוּZe/khar/YA/huZechariahהַמֵּבִיןham/me/VINwho had understandingבִּרְאֹתbir/OTin the seeing ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוּבִימֵיu/vi/MEand in the days ofדׇּרְשׁוֹdor/SHOhis seekingאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDהִצְלִיחוֹhits/li/CHOmade him prosperהָאֱלֹהִים׃ha/e/lo/HIMGod

   And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.

   וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand he went outוַיִּלָּחֶםvay/yil/LA/chemand he foughtבַּפְּלִשְׁתִּיםbap/Pe/lish/TIMagainst the Philistinesוַיִּפְרֹץvay/yif/ROTSand broke downאֶת־חוֹמַתet-cho/MATthe wall ofגַּתGatGathוְאֵתve/ETandחוֹמַתcho/MATthe wall ofיַבְנֵהYav/NEJabnehוְאֵתve/ETandחוֹמַתcho/MATthe wall ofאַשְׁדּוֹדAsh/DODAshdodוַיִּבְנֶהvay/yiv/NEand he builtעָרִיםa/RIMcitiesבְּאַשְׁדּוֹדbe/Ash/DODin Ashdodוּבַפְּלִשְׁתִּים׃u/Vap/pe/lish/TIMand among the Philistines

   And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

   וַיַּעְזְרֵהוּvay/ya/ze/RE/huand helped himהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעַל־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםal-Pe/lish/TIMagainst the Philistinesוְעַל־[הָעַרְבִים]ve/AL-ha/ar/VIMand against the Arabiansהַיֹּשְׁבִיםhay/yosh/VIMwho dweltבְּגוּר־בָּעַלbe/GUR-BA/alin Gur-baalוְהַמְּעוּנִים׃ve/ham/Me/u/NIMand the Meunites

   And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Mehunims.

   וַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand they gaveהָעַמּוֹנִיםha/Am/mo/NIMthe Ammonitesמִנְחָהmin/CHAtributeלְעֻזִּיָּהוּle/Uz/ziy/YA/huto Uzziahוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand spreadשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameעַד־לְבוֹאad-le/VOas far as the entrance ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptכִּיkiforהֶחֱזִיקhe/che/ZIKhe became strongעַד־לְמָעְלָה׃ad-le/MA/laexceedingly

   And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.

   וַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huUzziahמִגְדָּלִיםmig/da/LIMtowersבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemעַל־שַׁעַרal-SHA/arat the gate ofהַפִּנָּהhap/pin/NAthe cornerוְעַל־שַׁעַרve/AL-SHA/arand at the gate ofהַגַּיְאhag/GAYthe valleyוְעַל־הַמִּקְצוֹעַve/AL-ham/mik/TSO/aand at the angleוַיְחַזְּקֵם׃vay/chaz/ze/KEMand fortified them

   Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

    וַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtמִגְדָּלִיםmig/da/LIMtowersבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessוַיַּחְצֹבvay/yach/TSOVand hewedבֹּרוֹתbo/ROTcisternsרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyכִּיkiforמִקְנֶה־רַּבmik/NE-ravmuch cattleהָיָהha/YAthere wasלוֹloto himוּבַשְּׁפֵלָהu/Vash/she/fe/LAand in the Shephelahוּבַמִּישׁוֹרu/vam/mi/SHORand in the plainאִכָּרִיםik/ka/RIMplowmenוְכֹרְמִיםve/khor/MIMand vinedressersבֶּהָרִיםbe/ha/RIMin the hillsוּבַכַּרְמֶלu/Vak/kar/MELand in Carmelכִּי־אֹהֵבki-o/HEVfor he lovedאֲדָמָהa/da/MAsoilהָיָה׃ha/YAwas

    Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand there wasלְעֻזִּיָּהוּle/Uz/ziy/YA/huto UzziahחַיִלCHA/yilan armyעֹשֵׂהo/SEmakingמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarיוֹצְאֵיyots/Egoing out toצָבָאtsa/VAwarלִגְדוּדlig/DUDby bandsבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARaccording to the number ofפְּקֻדָּתָםpe/kud/da/TAMtheir musterבְּיַדbe/YADby the hand of(יעואל)yvl[יְעִיאֵל]Ye/i/ELJeielהַסּוֹפֵרhas/so/FERthe scribeוּמַעֲשֵׂיָהוּu/Ma/a/se/YA/huand Maaseiahהַשּׁוֹטֵרhash/sho/TERthe officerעַלalunderיַד־חֲנַנְיָהוּyad-Cha/nan/YA/huthe hand of Hananiahמִשָּׂרֵיmis/sa/REone of the commanders ofהַמֶּלֶךְ׃ham/ME/lekhthe king

    Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

    כֹּלkolallמִסְפַּרmis/PARthe number ofרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe heads ofהָאָבוֹתha/a/VOTthe fathersלְגִבּוֹרֵיle/gib/BO/reof the mighty men ofחָיִלCHA/yilvalorאַלְפַּיִםal/PA/yimtwo thousandוְשֵׁשׁve/SHESHand sixמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.

13. 13

    וְעַל־יָדָםve/AL-ya/DAMand under their handחֵילchelan army ofצָבָאtsa/VAwarשְׁלֹשׁshe/LOSHthreeמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאֶלֶףE/lefa thousandוְשִׁבְעַתve/shiv/ATand sevenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוַחֲמֵשׁva/cha/MESHand fiveמֵאוֹתme/OThundredעוֹשֵׂיo/SEmakingמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarבְּכֹחַbe/KHO/achwith powerחָיִלCHA/yilof valorלַעְזֹרla/ZORto helpלַמֶּלֶךְlam/ME/lekhthe kingעַל־הָאוֹיֵב׃al-ha/o/YEVagainst the enemy

    And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

    וַיָּכֶןvay/YA/khenand preparedלָהֶםla/HEMfor themעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huUzziahלְכׇל־הַצָּבָאle/KHOL-hats/tsa/VAfor all the armyמָגִנִּיםma/gin/NIMshieldsוּרְמָחִיםu/re/ma/CHIMand spearsוְכוֹבָעִיםve/kho/va/IMand helmetsוְשִׁרְיֹנוֹתve/shir/yo/NOTand coats of mailוּקְשָׁתוֹתu/ke/sha/TOTand bowsוּלְאַבְנֵיu/le/av/NEand stones forקְלָעִים׃ke/la/IMslinging

    And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he madeבִּירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםbI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalemחִשְּׁבֹנוֹתchish/she/vo/NOTdevicesמַחֲשֶׁבֶתma/cha/SHE/vetdevised byחוֹשֵׁבcho/SHEVskilled menלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTthat might beעַל־הַמִּגְדָּלִיםal-ham/mig/da/LIMon the towersוְעַל־הַפִּנּוֹתve/AL-hap/pin/NOTand on the cornersלִירוֹאli/ROto shootבַּחִצִּיםba/chits/TSIMwith arrowsוּבָאֲבָנִיםu/va/a/va/NIMand stonesגְּדֹלוֹתge/do/LOTgreatוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand spreadשְׁמוֹshe/MOhis nameעַד־לְמֵרָחוֹקad-le/me/ra/CHOKfarכִּי־הִפְלִיאki-hif/LIfor he was marvelouslyלְהֵעָזֵרle/he/a/ZERhelpedעַדaduntilכִּי־חָזָק׃ki-cha/ZAKhe was strong

    And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

16. 16

    וּכְחֶזְקָתוֹu/khe/chez/ka/TObut when he was strongגָּבַהּga/VAwas lifted upלִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartעַד־לְהַשְׁחִיתad-le/hash/CHITto his destructionוַיִּמְעַלvay/yim/ALand he transgressedבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiagainst the LORDאֱלֹהָיוe/lo/HAYVhis Godוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he wentאֶל־הֵיכַלel-he/KHALto the temple ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְהַקְטִירle/hak/TIRto burn incenseעַל־מִזְבַּחal-miz/BACHon the altar ofהַקְּטֹרֶת׃hak/ke/TO/retthe incense

    But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

17. 17

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himעֲזַרְיָהוּA/zar/YA/huAzariahהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand with him wereכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDשְׁמוֹנִיםshe/mo/NIMeightyבְּנֵי־חָיִל׃be/NE-CHA/yilmen of valor

    And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, that were valiant men:

18. 18

    וַיַּעַמְדוּvay/ya/am/DUand they withstoodעַל־עֻזִּיָּהוּal-Uz/ziy/YA/huUzziahהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himלֹא־לְךָlo-le/KHAit is not for youעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huO Uzziahלְהַקְטִירle/hak/TIRto burn incenseלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDכִּיkibutלַכֹּהֲנִיםlak/ko/ha/NIMfor the priestsבְּנֵי־אַהֲרֹןbe/NE-a/ha/RONthe sons of Aaronהַמְקֻדָּשִׁיםham/kud/da/SHIMwho are consecratedלְהַקְטִירle/hak/TIRto burn incenseצֵאtsego outמִן־הַמִּקְדָּשׁmin-ham/mik/DASHfrom the sanctuaryכִּיkiforמָעַלְתָּma/AL/tayou have transgressedוְלֹא־לְךָve/LO-le/KHAand it shall not be to youלְכָבוֹדle/kha/VODfor honorמֵיְהֹוָהme-Adonaifrom the LORDאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.

    וַיִּזְעַףvay/yiz/AFthen was angryעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huUzziahוּבְיָדוֹu/ve/ya/DOand in his handמִקְטֶרֶתmik/TE/reta censerלְהַקְטִירle/hak/TIRto burn incenseוּבְזַעְפּוֹu/ve/za/POand while he was angryעִם־הַכֹּהֲנִיםim-hak/ko/ha/NIMwith the priestsוְהַצָּרַעַתve/hats/tsa/RA/atand the leprosyזָרְחָהza/re/CHAbroke outבְמִצְחוֹve/mits/CHOon his foreheadלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֵעַלme/ALbesideלְמִזְבַּחle/miz/BACHthe altar ofהַקְּטֹרֶת׃hak/ke/TO/retthe incense

    Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand lookedאֵלָיוe/LAYVat himעֲזַרְיָהוּA/zar/YA/huAzariahכֹהֵןkho/HENthe priestהָרֹאשׁha/ROSHthe chiefוְכׇל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםve/KHOL-hak/ko/ha/NIMand all the priestsוְהִנֵּה־הוּאve/hin/NE-huand behold he wasמְצֹרָעme/tso/RAleprousבְּמִצְחוֹbe/mits/CHOon his foreheadוַיַּבְהִלוּהוּvay/yav/hi/LU/huand they hurried him outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereוְגַם־הוּאve/GAM-huand he himself alsoנִדְחַףnid/CHAFhurriedלָצֵאתla/TSETto go outכִּיkibecauseנִגְּעוֹnig/ge/Ohad struck himיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand wasעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huUzziahהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingמְצֹרָעme/tso/RAa leperעַד־יוֹםad-yomuntil the day ofמוֹתוֹmo/TOhis deathוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand livedבֵּיתbetin the house of[הַחׇפְשִׁית]ha/chof/SHITseparationמְצֹרָעme/tso/RAa leperכִּיkiforנִגְזַרnig/ZARhe was cut offמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְיוֹתָםve/Yo/TAMand Jothamבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonעַל־בֵּיתal-betwas over the house ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingשׁוֹפֵטsho/FETjudgingאֶת־עַםet-amthe people ofהָאָרֶץ׃ha/A/retsthe land

    And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

    וְיֶתֶרve/YE/terand the rest ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe acts ofעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huUzziahהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMthe firstוְהָאַחֲרֹנִיםve/ha/a/cha/ro/NIMand the latterכָּתַבka/TAVdid writeיְשַׁעְיָהוּYe/sha/YA/huIsaiahבֶן־אָמוֹץven-A/MOTSthe son of Amozהַנָּבִיא׃han/na/VIthe prophet

    Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand sleptעֻזִּיָּהוּUz/ziy/YA/huUzziahעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersוַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand they buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimעִם־אֲבֹתָיוim-a/vo/TAYVwith his fathersבִּשְׂדֵהbis/DEin the field ofהַקְּבוּרָהhak/ke/vu/RAthe burialאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat belongedלַמְּלָכִיםlam/me/la/KHIMto the kingsכִּיkiforאָמְרוּa/me/RUthey saidמְצוֹרָעme/tso/RAa leperהוּאhuhe isוַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedיוֹתָםYo/TAMJothamבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his place

    So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
