   Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

   And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

   And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand rose upיְהוֹרָםYe/ho/RAMJehoramעַל־מַמְלֶכֶתal-mam/LE/khetover the kingdom ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיִּתְחַזַּקvay/yit/chaz/ZAKand made himself strongוַיַּהֲרֹגvay/ya/ha/ROGand he killedאֶת־כׇּל־אֶחָיוet-kol-e/CHAYVall his brothersבֶּחָרֶבbe/CHA/revby the swordוְגַםve/GAMand alsoמִשָּׂרֵיmis/sa/REsome of the princes ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.

   בֶּן־שְׁלֹשִׁיםben-she/lo/SHIMa son of thirtyוּשְׁתַּיִםush/TA/yimand twoשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsיְהוֹרָםYe/ho/RAMJehoramבְּמׇלְכוֹbe/mol/KHOwhen he began to reignוּשְׁמוֹנֶהu/she/mo/NEand eightשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsמָלַךְma/LAKHreignedבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃bI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalem

   Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

   וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he walkedבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the way ofמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשׂוּa/SUdidבֵּיתbetthe house ofאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabכִּיkiforבַּת־אַחְאָבbat-Ach/AVthe daughter of Ahabהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasלּוֹlohisאִשָּׁהish/SHAwifeוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he didהָרַעha/RAevilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

   וְלֹא־אָבָהve/LO-a/VAyet was not willingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְהַשְׁחִיתle/hash/CHITto destroyאֶת־בֵּיתet-betthe house ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidלְמַעַןle/MA/anfor the sake ofהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatכָּרַתka/RATHe madeלְדָוִידle/Da/VIDwith Davidוְכַאֲשֶׁרve/kha/a/SHERand asאָמַרa/MARHe saidלָתֵתla/TETto giveלוֹloto himנִירnira lampוּלְבָנָיוu/le/va/NAYVand to his sonsכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃kol-hay/ya/MIMalways

   Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

   בְּיָמָיוbe/ya/MAYVin his daysפָּשַׁעpa/SHArebelledאֱדוֹםE/DOMEdomמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom underיַד־יְהוּדָהyad-Ye/hu/DAthe hand of Judahוַיַּמְלִיכוּvay/yam/LI/khuand they made kingעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMover themselvesמֶלֶךְ׃ME/lekha king

   In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.

   וַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORthen crossed overיְהוֹרָםYe/ho/RAMJehoramעִם־שָׂרָיוim-sa/RAYVwith his commandersוְכׇל־הָרֶכֶבve/KHOL-ha/RE/khevand all the chariotsעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passקָםkamhe roseלַיְלָהLAY/laby nightוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־אֱדוֹםet-E/DOMEdomהַסּוֹבֵבhas/so/VEVwhich surroundedאֵלָיוe/LAYVhimוְאֵתve/ETandשָׂרֵיsa/REthe commanders ofהָרָכֶב׃ha/RA/khevthe chariots

   Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.

    וַיִּפְשַׁעvay/yif/SHAso rebelledאֱדוֹםE/DOMEdomמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom underיַד־יְהוּדָהyad-Ye/hu/DAthe hand of Judahעַדaduntilהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאָזazthenתִּפְשַׁעtif/SHArebelledלִבְנָהLiv/NALibnahבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom underיָדוֹya/DOhis handכִּיkibecauseעָזַבa/ZAVhe had forsakenאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבֹתָיו׃a/vo/TAYVhis fathers

    So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

11. 11

    גַּם־הוּאgam-humoreover heעָשָׂה־בָמוֹתa/SA-va/MOTmade high placesבְּהָרֵיbe/ha/REin the mountains ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַיֶּזֶןvay/YE/zenand caused to play the harlotאֶת־יֹשְׁבֵיet-yosh/VEthe inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוַיַּדַּחvay/yad/DACHand led astrayאֶת־יְהוּדָה׃et-Ye/hu/DAJudah

    Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמִכְתָּבmikh/TAVa letterמֵאֵלִיָּהוּme/E/liy/YA/hufrom Elijahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherתַּחַתTA/chatbecauseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹא־הָלַכְתָּlo-ha/LAKH/tayou have not walkedבְּדַרְכֵיbe/dar/KHEin the ways ofיְהוֹשָׁפָטYe/ho/sha/FATJehoshaphatאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherוּבְדַרְכֵיu/ve/dar/KHEand in the ways ofאָסָאA/SAAsaמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה׃ME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAthe king of Judah

    And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

13. 13

    וַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhbut you have walkedבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhin the way ofמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַתַּזְנֶהvat/taz/NEand have made to play the harlotאֶת־יְהוּדָהet-Ye/hu/DAJudahוְאֶת־יֹשְׁבֵיve/ET-yosh/VEand the inhabitants ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemכְּהַזְנוֹתke/haz/NOTlike the harlotries ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofאַחְאָבAch/AVAhabוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶת־אַחֶיךָet-a/CHE/khayour brothersבֵית־אָבִיךָvet-a/VI/khathe house of your fatherהַטּוֹבִיםhat/to/VIMwho were betterמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAthan youהָרָגְתָּ׃ha/RAG/tayou have killed

    But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:

14. 14

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנֹגֵףno/GEFwill strikeמַגֵּפָהmag/ge/FAa plagueגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatבְּעַמֶּךָbe/am/ME/khayour peopleוּבְבָנֶיךָu/ve/va/NE/khaand your childrenוּבְנָשֶׁיךָu/ve/na/SHE/khaand your wivesוּבְכׇל־רְכוּשֶׁךָ׃u/ve/KHOL-re/khu/SHE/khaand all your goods

    Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

15. 15

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youבׇּחֳלָיִיםbo/cho/la/YIMwith sicknessesרַבִּיםrab/BIMgreatבְּמַחֲלֵהbe/ma/cha/LEwith disease ofמֵעֶיךָme/E/khayour bowelsעַד־יֵצְאוּad-yets/Uuntil come outמֵעֶיךָme/E/khayour bowelsמִן־הַחֹלִיmin-ha/CHO/libecause of the sicknessיָמִיםya/MIMdayעַל־יָמִים׃al-ya/MIMby day

    And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

16. 16

    וַיָּעַרvay/YA/arand stirred upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־יְהוֹרָםal-Ye/ho/RAMagainst Jehoramאֵת־רוּחַet-RU/achthe spirit ofהַפְּלִשְׁתִּיםhap/Pe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוְהָעַרְבִיםve/Ha/ar/VIMand the Arabiansאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereעַל־יַדal-yadnearכּוּשִׁים׃Ku/SHIMthe Cushites

    Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:

17. 17

    וַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand they came upבִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAinto Judahוַיִּבְקָעוּהָvay/yiv/ka/U/haand broke into itוַיִּשְׁבּוּvay/yish/BUand carried awayאֵת־כׇּל־הָרְכוּשׁet-kol-ha/re/KHUSHall the goodsהַנִּמְצָאhan/nim/TSAfoundלְבֵית־הַמֶּלֶךְle/VET-ham/ME/lekhin the house of the kingוְגַם־בָּנָיוve/GAM-ba/NAYVand also his sonsוְנָשָׁיוve/na/SHAYVand his wivesוְלֹאve/LOso that notנִשְׁאַר־לוֹnish/AR-lowas left to himבֵּןbena sonכִּיkibutאִם־יְהוֹאָחָזim-Ye/ho/a/CHAZonly Jehoahazקְטֹןke/TONthe youngest ofבָּנָיו׃ba/NAYVhis sons

    And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

18. 18

    וְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterכׇּל־זֹאתkol-zotall thisנְגָפוֹne/ga/FOstruck himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּמֵעָיוbe/me/AYVin his bowelsלׇחֳלִיlo/cho/LIwith a diseaseלְאֵיןle/ENwithoutמַרְפֵּא׃mar/PEcure

    And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19. 19

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passלְיָמִיםle/ya/MIMto daysמִיָּמִיםmiy/ya/MIMfrom daysוּכְעֵתu/khe/ETand about the time ofצֵאתtsetthe going out ofהַקֵּץhak/KETSthe endלְיָמִיםle/ya/MIMto daysשְׁנַיִםshe/NA/yimtwoיָצְאוּya/tse/Ucame outמֵעָיוme/AYVhis bowelsעִם־חׇלְיוֹim-chol/YObecause of his sicknessוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand he diedבְּתַחֲלֻאִיםbe/ta/cha/lu/IMof diseasesרָעִיםra/IMevilוְלֹא־עָשׂוּve/LO-a/SUand did not makeלוֹlofor himעַמּוֹam/MOhis peopleשְׂרֵפָהse/re/FAa burningכִּשְׂרֵפַתkis/re/FATlike the burning forאֲבֹתָיו׃a/vo/TAYVhis fathers

    And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

    Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
