   וַיִּמְלֹךְvay/yim/LOKHand reignedיְהוֹשָׁפָטYe/ho/sha/FATJehoshaphatבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonתַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVin his placeוַיִּתְחַזֵּקvay/yit/chaz/ZEKand strengthened himselfעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃al-Yis/ra/ELagainst Israel

   And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

   וַיִּתֶּן־חַיִלvay/YIT/ten-CHA/yiland he placed forcesבְּכׇל־עָרֵיbe/KHOL-a/REin all the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahהַבְּצֻרוֹתhab/be/tsu/ROTthe fortifiedוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand setנְצִיבִיםne/tsi/VIMgarrisonsבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוּבְעָרֵיu/ve/a/REand in the cities ofאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלָכַדla/KHADhad takenאָסָאA/SAAsaאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

   And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand wasיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָטim-Ye/ho/sha/FATwith Jehoshaphatכִּיkibecauseהָלַךְha/LAKHhe walkedבְּדַרְכֵיbe/dar/KHEin the ways ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherהָרִאשֹׁנִיםha/ri/sho/NIMfirstוְלֹאve/LOand notדָרַשׁda/RASHdid he seekלַבְּעָלִים׃lab/Be/a/LIMthe Baalim

   And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

   כִּיkibutלֵאלֹהֵיle/lo/HEthe God ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherדָּרָשׁda/RASHhe soughtוּבְמִצְוֺתָיוu/ve/mits/vo/TAYVand in His commandmentsהָלָךְha/LAKHhe walkedוְלֹאve/LOand notכְּמַעֲשֵׂהke/ma/a/SEaccording to the doings ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

   וַיָּכֶןvay/YA/khenand establishedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־הַמַּמְלָכָהet-ham/mam/la/KHAthe kingdomבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוַיִּתְּנוּvay/yit/te/NUand gaveכׇל־יְהוּדָהkhol-Ye/hu/DAall Judahמִנְחָהmin/CHAtributeלִיהוֹשָׁפָטlI/ho/sha/FATto Jehoshaphatוַיְהִי־לוֹvay/HI-loand he hadעֹשֶׁר־וְכָבוֹדO/sher-ve/kha/VODriches and honorלָרֹב׃la/ROVin abundance

   Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.

   וַיִּגְבַּהּvay/yig/BAand was lifted upלִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartבְּדַרְכֵיbe/dar/KHEin the ways ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְעוֹדve/ODand furthermoreהֵסִירhe/SIRhe removedאֶת־הַבָּמוֹתet-hab/ba/MOTthe high placesוְאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרִיםve/ET-ha/a/she/RIMand the Asherimמִיהוּדָה׃mI/hu/DAfrom Judah

   And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

   וּבִשְׁנַתu/vish/NATand in the year ofשָׁלוֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeלְמׇלְכוֹle/mol/KHOof his reignשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe sentלְשָׂרָיוle/sa/RAYVto his princesלְבֶן־חַיִלle/VEN-CHA/yilto Ben-hailוּלְעֹבַדְיָהu/Le/o/vad/YAand to Obadiahוְלִזְכַרְיָהve/Liz/khar/YAand to Zechariahוְלִנְתַנְאֵלve/Lin/tan/ELand to Nethaneelוּלְמִיכָיָהוּu/Le/mi/kha/YA/huand to Micaiahלְלַמֵּדle/lam/MEDto teachבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

   Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Ben-hail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

   And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

   וַיְלַמְּדוּvay/lam/me/DUand they taughtבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAin Judahוְעִמָּהֶםve/im/ma/HEMand with themסֵפֶרSE/ferthe book ofתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיָּסֹבּוּvay/ya/SOB/buand they went aboutבְּכׇל־עָרֵיbe/KHOL-a/REthrough all the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוַיְלַמְּדוּvay/lam/me/DUand they taughtבָּעָם׃ba/AMamong the people

   And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

10. 10

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passפַּחַדPA/chadthe dread ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַלaluponכׇּל־מַמְלְכוֹתkol-mam/le/KHOTall the kingdoms ofהָאֲרָצוֹתha/a/ra/TSOTthe landsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wereסְבִיבוֹתse/vi/VOTaroundיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְלֹאve/LOand notנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUdid they make warעִם־יְהוֹשָׁפָט׃im-Ye/ho/sha/FATagainst Jehoshaphat

    And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

    וּמִן־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםu/MIN-pe/lish/TIMand some of the Philistinesמְבִיאִיםme/vi/IMbroughtלִיהוֹשָׁפָטlI/ho/sha/FATto Jehoshaphatמִנְחָהmin/CHApresentsוְכֶסֶףve/KHE/sefand silverמַשָּׂאmas/SAas tributeגַּםgamalsoהָעַרְבִיאִיםha/Ar/vi/IMthe Arabiansמְבִיאִיםme/vi/IMbroughtלוֹloto himצֹאןtsonflocksאֵילִיםe/LIMramsשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוּשְׁבַעu/she/VAand sevenמֵאוֹתme/OThundredוּתְיָשִׁיםu/te/ya/SHIMand male goatsשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוּשְׁבַעu/she/VAand sevenמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passיְהוֹשָׁפָטYe/ho/sha/FATJehoshaphatהֹלֵךְho/LEKHwent onוְגָדֵלve/ga/DELand grew greatעַד־לְמָעְלָהad-le/MA/laexceedinglyוַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand he builtבִּיהוּדָהbI/hu/DAin Judahבִּירָנִיּוֹתbi/ra/niy/YOTfortressesוְעָרֵיve/a/REand cities ofמִסְכְּנוֹת׃mis/ke/NOTstore

    And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.

13. 13

    וּמְלָאכָהu/me/la/KHAand worksרַבָּהrab/BAmanyהָיָהha/YAwereלוֹloto himבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוְאַנְשֵׁיve/an/SHEand the men ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarגִּבּוֹרֵיgib/bo/REmighty men ofחַיִלCHA/yilvalorבִּירוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃bI/ru/sha/LA/yimin Jerusalem

    And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.

14. 14

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand this isפְקֻדָּתָםfe/kud/da/TAMtheir numberingלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבוֹתֵיהֶםa/vo/te/HEMtheir fathersלִיהוּדָהlI/hu/DAof Judahשָׂרֵיsa/REthe commanders ofאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandsעַדְנָהAd/NAAdnahהַשָּׂרhas/SARthe commanderוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand were with himגִּבּוֹרֵיgib/bo/REmighty men ofחַיִלCHA/yilvalorשְׁלֹשׁshe/LOSHthreeמֵאוֹתme/OThundredאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.

15. 15

    וְעַל־יָדוֹve/AL-ya/DOand next to himיְהוֹחָנָןYe/ho/cha/NANJehohananהַשָּׂרhas/SARthe commanderוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand were with himמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredוּשְׁמוֹנִיםu/she/mo/NIMand eightyאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.

16. 16

    וְעַל־יָדוֹve/AL-ya/DOand next to himעֲמַסְיָהA/mas/YAAmasiahבֶן־זִכְרִיven-Zikh/RIthe son of Zichriהַמִּתְנַדֵּבham/mit/nad/DEVwho volunteeredלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand were with himמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredאֶלֶףE/lefthousandגִּבּוֹרgib/BORmightyחָיִל׃CHA/yilof valor

    And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.

17. 17

    וּמִן־בִּנְיָמִןu/MIN-bin/ya/MINand of Benjaminגִּבּוֹרgib/BORmightyחַיִלCHA/yilof valorאֶלְיָדָעEl/ya/DAEliadaוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand were with himנֹשְׁקֵי־קֶשֶׁתNOSH/ke-KE/shetarmed with bowוּמָגֵןu/ma/GENand shieldמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.

18. 18

    וְעַל־יָדוֹve/AL-ya/DOand next to himיְהוֹזָבָדYe/ho/za/VADJehozabadוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand were with himמֵאָה־וּשְׁמוֹנִיםme/A-u/she/mo/NIMa hundred and eightyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandחֲלוּצֵיcha/lu/TSEequipped forצָבָא׃tsa/VAwar

    And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.

19. 19

    אֵלֶּהEL/letheseהַמְשָׁרְתִיםham/sha/re/TIMwho servedאֶת־הַמֶּלֶךְet-ham/ME/lekhthe kingמִלְּבַדmil/le/VADbesidesאֲשֶׁר־נָתַןa/SHER-na/TANthose whom putהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofהַמִּבְצָרham/miv/TSARfortificationבְּכׇל־יְהוּדָה׃be/KHOL-ye/hu/DAthroughout all Judah

    These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
