   וּפְלִשְׁתִּיםu/Fe/lish/TIMand the Philistinesלָקְחוּla/ke/CHUhad takenאֵת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיְבִאֻהוּvay/vi/U/huand brought itמֵאֶבֶןme/E/venfrom Eben-הָעֵזֶרha/E/zerezerאַשְׁדּוֹדָה׃Ash/DO/dato Ashdod

   And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod.

   וַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesאֶת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַיָּבִאוּvay/ya/VI/uand broughtאֹתוֹo/TOitבֵּיתbetinto the house ofדָּגוֹןDa/GONDagonוַיַּצִּיגוּvay/yats/TSI/guand setאֹתוֹo/TOitאֵצֶלE/tselbyדָּגוֹן׃Da/GONDagon

   When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

   וַיַּשְׁכִּמוּvay/yash/KI/muand rose earlyאַשְׁדּוֹדִיםAsh/do/DIMthe people of Ashdodמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdדָגוֹןDa/GONDagonנֹפֵלno/FELhad fallenלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVon his faceאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּקְחוּvay/yik/CHUand they tookאֶת־דָּגוֹןet-Da/GONDagonוַיָּשִׁבוּvay/ya/SHI/vuand returnedאֹתוֹo/TOhimלִמְקוֹמוֹ׃lim/ko/MOto his place

   And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.

   And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.

   עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹא־יִדְרְכוּlo-yid/re/KHUdo not treadכֹהֲנֵיkho/ha/NEthe priests ofדָגוֹןDa/GONDagonוְכׇל־הַבָּאִיםve/KHOL-hab/ba/IMnor any who come intoבֵּית־דָּגוֹןbet-Da/GONthe house of Dagonעַל־מִפְתַּןal-mif/TANon the threshold ofדָּגוֹןDa/GONDagonבְּאַשְׁדּוֹדbe/Ash/DODin Ashdodעַדadtoהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.

   וַתִּכְבַּדvat/tikh/BADbut was heavyיַד־יְהֹוָהyad-Adonaithe hand of the LORDאֶל־הָאַשְׁדּוֹדִיםel-Ha/ash/do/DIMupon the people of Ashdodוַיְשִׁמֵּםvay/shim/MEMand He ravaged themוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֹתָםo/TAMthem[בַּטְּחֹרִים]bat/te/cho/RIMwith tumorsאֶת־אַשְׁדּוֹדet-Ash/DODAshdodוְאֶת־גְּבוּלֶיהָ׃ve/ET-ge/vu/LE/haand its territory

   But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.

   וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand sawאַנְשֵׁי־אַשְׁדּוֹדan/SHE-Ash/DODthe men of Ashdodכִּי־כֵןki-khenthat it was soוְאָמְרוּve/a/me/RUand saidלֹא־יֵשֵׁבlo-ye/SHEVshall not remainאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usכִּי־קָשְׁתָהki-ka/she/TAfor is hardיָדוֹya/DOHis handעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuupon usוְעַלve/ALand uponדָּגוֹןDa/GONDagonאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃e/lo/HE/nuour god

   And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.

   וַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUso they sentוַיַּאַסְפוּvay/ya/as/FUand gatheredאֶת־כׇּל־סַרְנֵיet-kol-sar/NEall the lords ofפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמַה־נַּעֲשֶׂהma-na/a/SEwhat shall we doלַאֲרוֹןla/a/RONwith the ark ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidגַּתGatto Gathיִסֹּבyis/SOVlet be carried aroundאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיַּסֵּבּוּvay/yas/SEB/buand they carriedאֶת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהֵסַבּוּhe/SAB/buthey had carriedאֹתוֹo/TOitוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIthat wasיַד־יְהֹוָהyad-Adonaihand of the LORDבָּעִירba/IRagainst the cityמְהוּמָהme/hu/MAwith a panicגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatמְאֹדme/ODveryוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand He struckאֶת־אַנְשֵׁיet-an/SHEthe men ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityמִקָּטֹןmik/ka/TONboth smallוְעַד־גָּדוֹלve/AD-ga/DOLand greatוַיִּשָּׂתְרוּvay/yis/sa/te/RUand broke outלָהֶםla/HEMon them[טְחֹרִים]׃te/cho/RIMtumors

   And it was so, that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.

    וַיְשַׁלְּחוּvay/shal/le/CHUtherefore they sentאֶת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעֶקְרוֹןEk/RONto Ekronוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכְּבוֹאke/VOas cameאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעֶקְרוֹןEk/RONto Ekronוַיִּזְעֲקוּvay/yiz/a/KUand cried outהָעֶקְרֹנִיםha/Ek/ro/NIMthe Ekronitesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהֵסַבּוּhe/SAB/buthey have carriedאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלַהֲמִיתֵנִיla/ha/mi/TE/nito kill meוְאֶת־עַמִּי׃ve/ET-am/MIand my people

    Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.

    וַיִּשְׁלְחוּvay/yish/le/CHUso they sentוַיַּאַסְפוּvay/ya/as/FUand gatheredאֶת־כׇּל־סַרְנֵיet-kol-sar/NEall the lords ofפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidשַׁלְּחוּshal/le/CHUsend awayאֶת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְיָשֹׁבve/ya/SHOVand let it returnלִמְקוֹמוֹlim/ko/MOto its own placeוְלֹא־יָמִיתve/LO-ya/MITthat it may not killאֹתִיo/TImeוְאֶת־עַמִּיve/ET-am/MIand my peopleכִּי־הָיְתָהki-ha/ye/TAfor there wasמְהוּמַת־מָוֶתme/hu/MAT-MA/veta deadly panicבְּכׇל־הָעִירbe/KHOL-ha/IRin all the cityכָּבְדָהka/ve/DAwas heavyמְאֹדme/ODveryיַדyadthe hand ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodשָׁם׃shamthere

    So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.

12. 12

    וְהָאֲנָשִׁיםve/ha/a/na/SHIMand the menאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־מֵתוּlo-ME/tudid not dieהֻכּוּhuk/KUwere struck[בַּטְּחֹרִים]bat/te/cho/RIMwith tumorsוַתַּעַלvat/TA/aland went upשַׁוְעַתshav/ATthe cry ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityהַשָּׁמָיִם׃hash/sha/MA/yimto heaven

    And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
