   And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat the timeהַהוּאha/HUthatוְעֵלִיve/E/LIand Eliשֹׁכֵבsho/KHEVwas lying downבִּמְקוֹמוֹbim/ko/MOin his placeוְעֵינָוve/e/NAVand his eyesהֵחֵלּוּhe/CHEL/luhad begunכֵהוֹתkhe/HOTdimלֹאlonotיוּכַלyu/KHALhe couldלִרְאוֹת׃lir/OTto see

   And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;

   וְנֵרve/NERand the lamp ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodטֶרֶםTE/remhad not yetיִכְבֶּהyikh/BEgone outוּשְׁמוּאֵלu/She/mu/ELand Samuelשֹׁכֵבsho/KHEVwas lying downבְּהֵיכַלbe/he/KHALin the temple ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁר־שָׁםa/SHER-shamwhere wasאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

   And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּנִי׃hin/NE/nihere am I

   That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

   וַיָּרׇץvay/YA/rotsand he ranאֶל־עֵלִיel-E/LIto Eliוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנְנִיhin/NIhere am Iכִּי־קָרָאתָki-ka/RA/tafor you calledלִּיlimeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹא־קָרָאתִיlo-ka/RA/tiI did not callשׁוּבshuvreturnשְׁכָבshe/KHAVlie downוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentוַיִּשְׁכָּב׃vay/yish/KAVand lay down

   And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.

   וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDקְרֹאke/ROcalledעוֹדodyetשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאֶל־עֵלִיel-E/LIto Eliוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנְנִיhin/NIhere am Iכִּיkiforקָרָאתָka/RA/tayou calledלִיlimeוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹא־קָרָאתִיlo-ka/RA/tiI did not callבְנִיve/NImy sonשׁוּבshuvreturnשְׁכָב׃she/KHAVlie down

   And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

   וּשְׁמוּאֵלu/She/mu/ELand SamuelטֶרֶםTE/remdid not yetיָדַעya/DAknowאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוְטֶרֶםve/TE/remnor yetיִגָּלֶהyig/ga/LEwas revealedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himדְּבַר־יְהֹוָה׃de/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORD

   Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.

8. 8

   וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDקְרֹא־שְׁמוּאֵלke/RO-She/mu/ELcalled Samuelבַּשְּׁלִישִׁתbash/she/li/SHITthe third timeוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאֶל־עֵלִיel-E/LIto Eliוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנְנִיhin/NIhere am Iכִּיkiforקָרָאתָka/RA/tayou calledלִיlimeוַיָּבֶןvay/YA/venand understoodעֵלִיE/LIEliכִּיkithatיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDקֹרֵאko/REwas callingלַנָּעַר׃lan/NA/arthe child

   And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.

9. 9

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidעֵלִיE/LIEliלִשְׁמוּאֵלLish/mu/ELto Samuelלֵךְlekhgoשְׁכָבshe/KHAVlie downוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beאִם־יִקְרָאim-yik/RAif He callsאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAthat you shall sayדַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDכִּיkiforשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/ais listeningעַבְדֶּךָav/DE/khaYour servantוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand lay downבִּמְקוֹמוֹ׃bim/ko/MOin his place

   Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּתְיַצַּבvay/yit/yats/TSAVand stoodוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledכְפַעַם־בְּפַעַםkhe/FA/am-be/FA/amas at other timesשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelדַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakכִּיkiforשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/ais listeningעַבְדֶּךָ׃av/DE/khaYour servant

    And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIעֹשֶׂהo/SEwill doדָבָרda/VARa thingבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichכׇּל־שֹׁמְעוֹkol-shom/Oeveryone who hears itתְּצִלֶּינָהte/tsil/LE/nashall tingleשְׁתֵּיshtebothאׇזְנָיו׃oz/NAYVhis ears

    And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

12. 12

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatאָקִיםa/KIMI will performאֶל־עֵלִיel-E/LIagainst Eliאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatדִּבַּרְתִּיdib/BAR/tiI have spokenאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOconcerning his houseהָחֵלha/CHELbeginningוְכַלֵּה׃ve/khal/LEand ending

    In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

13. 13

    וְהִגַּדְתִּיve/hig/GAD/tifor I have toldלוֹloto himכִּי־שֹׁפֵטki-sho/FETthat will judgeאֲנִיa/NIIאֶת־בֵּיתוֹet-be/TOhis houseעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverבַּעֲוֺןba/a/VONfor the iniquityאֲשֶׁר־יָדַעa/SHER-ya/DAwhich he knewכִּי־מְקַלְלִיםki-me/kal/LIMthat were cursingלָהֶםla/HEMthemselvesבָּנָיוba/NAYVhis sonsוְלֹאve/LOand notכִהָהkhi/HAhe restrainedבָּם׃bamthem

    For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.

14. 14

    וְלָכֵןve/la/KHENthereforeנִשְׁבַּעְתִּיnish/BA/tiI have swornלְבֵיתle/VETto the house ofעֵלִיE/LIEliאִם־יִתְכַּפֵּרim-yit/kap/PERshall not be atoned forעֲוֺןa/VONthe iniquity ofבֵּית־עֵלִיbet-E/LIthe house of Eliבְּזֶבַחbe/ZE/vachby sacrificeוּבְמִנְחָהu/ve/min/CHAor offeringעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

15. 15

    וַיִּשְׁכַּבvay/yish/KAVand layשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelעַד־הַבֹּקֶרad-hab/BO/keruntil morningוַיִּפְתַּחvay/yif/TACHand openedאֶת־דַּלְתוֹתet-dal/TOTthe doors ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָהbet-Adonaithe house of the LORDוּשְׁמוּאֵלu/She/mu/ELand Samuelיָרֵאya/REwas afraidמֵהַגִּידme/hag/GIDto tellאֶת־הַמַּרְאָהet-ham/mar/Athe visionאֶל־עֵלִי׃el-E/LIto Eli

    And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.

16. 16

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledעֵלִיE/LIEliאֶת־שְׁמוּאֵלet-She/mu/ELSamuelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelבְּנִיbe/NImy sonוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּנִי׃hin/NE/nihere am I

    Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמָהmawhat isהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe has spokenאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאַל־נָאal-nado not I prayתְכַחֵדte/kha/CHEDhide itמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meכֹּהkothusיַעֲשֶׂה־לְּךָya/a/SE-le/KHAmay do to youאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוְכֹהve/KHOand soיוֹסִיףyo/SIFaddאִם־תְּכַחֵדim-te/kha/CHEDif you hideמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nifrom meדָּבָרda/VARa wordמִכׇּל־הַדָּבָרmik/KOL-had/da/VARof all the wordאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERthat He spokeאֵלֶיךָ׃e/LE/khato you

    And he said, What is the thing that the Lord hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.

18. 18

    וַיַּגֶּד־לוֹvay/YAG/ged-loand told himשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsוְלֹאve/LOand notכִחֵדkhi/CHEDhidמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom himוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהוּאhuit isהַטּוֹבhat/TOVwhat is goodבְּעֵינָוbe/e/NAVin His eyesיַעֲשֶׂה׃ya/a/SElet Him do

    And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.

19. 19

    וַיִּגְדַּלvay/yig/DALand grewשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDהָיָהha/YAwasעִמּוֹim/MOwith himוְלֹא־הִפִּילve/LO-hip/PILand did not let fallמִכׇּל־דְּבָרָיוmik/KOL-de/va/RAYVany of his wordsאָרְצָה׃AR/tsato the ground

    And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

20. 20

    וַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלkol-Yis/ra/ELall Israelמִדָּןmid/DANfrom Danוְעַד־בְּאֵרve/AD-be/EReven to Beer-שָׁבַעSHA/vashebaכִּיkithatנֶאֱמָןne/e/MANwas confirmedשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelלְנָבִיאle/na/VIas a prophetלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaiof the LORD

    And all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

21. 21

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְהֵרָאֹהle/he/ra/Oappearedבְשִׁלֹהve/Shi/LOin Shilohכִּי־נִגְלָהki-nig/LAfor revealed HimselfיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelבְּשִׁלוֹbe/Shi/LOin Shilohבִּדְבַרbid/VARby the word ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
