   And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?

   And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.

   And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.

   Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.

   And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

   If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Beth-lehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.

   אִם־כֹּהim-koif thusיֹאמַרyo/MARhe saysטוֹבtovgoodשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceלְעַבְדֶּךָle/av/DE/khato your servantוְאִם־חָרֹהve/IM-cha/RObut if be angryיֶחֱרֶהye/che/REis angryלוֹloheדַּעdaknowכִּי־כָלְתָהki-kha/le/TAthat is determinedהָרָעָהha/ra/Aevilמֵעִמּוֹ׃me/im/MOby him

   If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.

   וְעָשִׂיתָve/a/SI/tatherefore dealחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindlyעַל־עַבְדֶּךָal-av/DE/khawith your servantכִּיkiforבִּבְרִיתbiv/RITinto a covenant ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהֵבֵאתָhe/VE/tayou have broughtאֶת־עַבְדְּךָet-av/de/KHAyour servantעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youוְאִם־יֶשׁ־בִּיve/IM-yesh-bibut if there is in meעָוֺןa/VONiniquityהֲמִיתֵנִיha/mi/TE/nikill meאַתָּהat/TAyourselfוְעַד־אָבִיךָve/AD-a/VI/khafor to your fatherלָמָּה־זֶּהLAM/ma-zewhy thenתְבִיאֵנִי׃te/vi/E/nishould you bring me

   Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanחָלִילָהcha/LI/lafar be itלָּךְlakhfrom youכִּיkiforאִם־יָדֹעַim-ya/DO/aif knowאֵדַעe/DAI knowכִּי־כָלְתָהki-kha/le/TAthat was determinedהָרָעָהha/ra/Aevilמֵעִםme/IMfromאָבִיa/VImy fatherלָבוֹאla/VOto comeעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youוְלֹאve/LOthen notאֹתָהּo/TAitאַגִּידag/GIDwould I tellלָךְ׃lakhyou

   And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidאֶל־יְהוֹנָתָןel-Ye/ho/na/TANto Jonathanמִיmiwhoיַגִּידyag/GIDwill tellלִיlimeאוֹoorמַה־יַּעַנְךָma-ya/an/KHAwhat if answers youאָבִיךָa/VI/khayour fatherקָשָׁה׃ka/SHAharshly

    Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto Davidלְכָהle/KHAcomeוְנֵצֵאve/ne/TSEand let us go outהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEinto the fieldוַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they went outשְׁנֵיהֶםshe/ne/HEMboth of themהַשָּׂדֶה׃has/sa/DEinto the field

    And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDto DavidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכִּי־אֶחְקֹרki-ech/KORwhen I have sounded outאֶת־אָבִיet-a/VImy fatherכָּעֵתka/ETabout this timeמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowהַשְּׁלִשִׁיתhash/she/li/SHITor the third dayוְהִנֵּה־טוֹבve/hin/NE-tovand behold it is goodאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDtoward Davidוְלֹא־אָזve/LO-azshall I not thenאֶשְׁלַחesh/LACHsendאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוְגָלִיתִיve/ga/LI/tiand disclose itאֶת־אׇזְנֶךָ׃et-oz/NE/khato your ear

    And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;

    כֹּה־יַעֲשֶׂהko-ya/a/SEmay do soיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלִיהוֹנָתָןlI/ho/na/TANto Jonathanוְכֹהve/KHOand moreיֹסִיףyo/SIFalsoכִּי־יֵיטִבki-ye/TIVif it pleasesאֶל־אָבִיel-a/VImy fatherאֶת־הָרָעָהet-ha/ra/Ato do evilעָלֶיךָa/LE/khato youוְגָלִיתִיve/ga/LI/tithen I will disclose itאֶת־אׇזְנֶךָet-oz/NE/khato your earוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיךָve/shil/lach/TI/khaand send you awayוְהָלַכְתָּve/ha/lakh/TAthat you may goלְשָׁלוֹםle/sha/LOMin peaceוִיהִיvi/HIand may beיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהָיָהha/YAHe wasעִם־אָבִי׃im-a/VIwith my father

    The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.

14. 14

    וְלֹאve/LOand notאִם־עוֹדֶנִּיim-o/DEN/niif I am stillחָיchayaliveוְלֹא־תַעֲשֶׂהve/LO-ta/a/SEwill you not showעִמָּדִיim/ma/DImeחֶסֶדCHE/sedthe kindness ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְלֹאve/LOthat notאָמוּת׃a/MUTI die

    And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:

15. 15

    וְלֹא־תַכְרִיתve/LO-takh/RITand you shall not cut offאֶת־חַסְדְּךָet-chas/de/KHAyour kindnessמֵעִםme/IMfromבֵּיתִיbe/TImy houseעַד־עוֹלָםad-o/LAMforeverוְלֹאve/LOnot evenבְּהַכְרִתbe/hakh/RITwhen has cut offיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־אֹיְבֵיet-oy/VEthe enemies ofדָוִדDa/VIDDavidאִישׁishevery oneמֵעַלme/ALfromפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofהָאֲדָמָה׃ha/a/da/MAthe earth

    But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.

16. 16

    וַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTso made a covenantיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanעִם־בֵּיתim-betwith the house ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוּבִקֵּשׁu/vik/KESHand may require itיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofאֹיְבֵיoy/VEthe enemies ofדָוִד׃Da/VIDDavid

    So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies.

17. 17

    וַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand againיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanלְהַשְׁבִּיעַle/hash/BI/acaused to swearאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidבְּאַהֲבָתוֹbe/a/ha/va/TOby his loveאֹתוֹo/TOfor himכִּי־אַהֲבַתki-a/ha/VATfor as the love ofנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis own soulאֲהֵבוֹ׃a/he/VOhe loved him

    And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶר־לוֹvay/YO/mer-lothen said to himיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowחֹדֶשׁCHO/deshis the new moonוְנִפְקַדְתָּve/nif/KAD/taand you will be missedכִּיkiforיִפָּקֵדyip/pa/KEDwill be emptyמוֹשָׁבֶךָ׃mo/sha/VE/khayour seat

    Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.

19. 19

    וְשִׁלַּשְׁתָּve/shil/lash/TAand on the third dayתֵּרֵדte/REDgo downמְאֹדme/ODquicklyוּבָאתָu/VA/taand comeאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMto the placeאֲשֶׁר־נִסְתַּרְתָּa/SHER-nis/TAR/tawhere you hidשָּׁםshamthereבְּיוֹםbe/YOMon the day ofהַמַּעֲשֶׂהham/ma/a/SEthe deedוְיָשַׁבְתָּve/ya/shav/TAand remainאֵצֶלE/tselbesideהָאֶבֶןha/E/venthe stoneהָאָזֶל׃Ha/A/zelEzel

    And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.

20. 20

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeהַחִצִּיםha/chits/TSIMarrowsצִדָּהֿtsid/DAto its sideאוֹרֶהo/REwill shootלְשַׁלַּח־לִיle/shal/LACH-lias though I shotלְמַטָּרָה׃le/mat/ta/RAat a target

    And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.

21. 21

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאֶשְׁלַחesh/LACHI will sendאֶת־הַנַּעַרet-han/NA/arthe ladלֵךְlekhgoמְצָאme/TSAfindאֶת־הַחִצִּיםet-ha/chits/TSIMthe arrowsאִם־אָמֹרim-a/MORif sayאֹמַרo/MARsayלַנַּעַרlan/NA/arto the ladהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַחִצִּיםha/chits/TSIMthe arrowsמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youוָהֵנָּהva/HEN/naand this wayקָחֶנּוּka/CHEN/nutake itוָבֹאָהva/VO/athen comeכִּי־שָׁלוֹםki-sha/LOMfor there is peaceלְךָle/KHAfor youוְאֵיןve/ENand noדָּבָרda/VARharmחַי־יְהֹוָה׃chay-Adonaias the LORD lives

    And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as the LORD liveth.

22. 22

    וְאִם־כֹּהve/IM-kobut if thusאֹמַרo/MARI sayלָעֶלֶםla/E/lemto the young manהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַחִצִּיםha/chits/TSIMthe arrowsמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youוָהָלְאָהva/HAL/aand beyondלֵךְlekhgoכִּיkiforשִׁלַּחֲךָshil/la/cha/KHAhas sent you awayיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.

23. 23

    וְהַדָּבָרve/had/da/VARand as for the wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatדִּבַּרְנוּdib/BAR/nuwe have spokenאֲנִיa/NIIוָאָתָּהva/AT/taand youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORD isבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינְךָu/ve/ne/KHAand between youעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.

24. 24

    וַיִּסָּתֵרvay/yis/sa/TERso hidדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldוַיְהִיvay/HIand cameהַחֹדֶשׁha/CHO/deshthe new moonוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand sat downהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe king(על)l[אֶל־]הַלֶּחֶםel-hal/LE/chemto the mealלֶאֱכוֹל׃le/e/KHOLto eat

    So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.

    וַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingעַל־מוֹשָׁבוֹal-mo/sha/VOon his seatכְּפַעַםke/FA/amas at other timesבְּפַעַםbe/FA/ambeforeאֶל־מוֹשַׁבel-mo/SHAVon the seat byהַקִּירhak/KIRthe wallוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satאַבְנֵרAv/NERAbnerמִצַּדmits/TSADby the side ofשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוַיִּפָּקֵדvay/yip/pa/KEDbut was emptyמְקוֹםme/KOMthe place ofדָּוִד׃Da/VIDDavid

    And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was empty.

    וְלֹא־דִבֶּרve/LO-dib/BERyet did not speakשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatכִּיkiforאָמַרa/MARhe thoughtמִקְרֶהmik/REsomething has befallenהוּאhuhimבִּלְתִּיbil/TInotטָהוֹרta/HORcleanהוּאhuhe isכִּי־לֹאki-losurely he is notטָהוֹר׃ta/HORclean

    Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרַתmim/mo/cho/RATon the morrow ofהַחֹדֶשׁha/CHO/deshthe new moonהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondוַיִּפָּקֵדvay/yip/pa/KEDthat was emptyמְקוֹםme/KOMthe place ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶל־יְהוֹנָתָןel-Ye/ho/na/TANto Jonathanבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonמַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyלֹא־בָאlo-vahas not comeבֶן־יִשַׁיven-Yi/SHAYthe son of Jesseגַּם־תְּמוֹלgam-te/MOLeither yesterdayגַּם־הַיּוֹםgam-hay/YOMor todayאֶל־הַלָּחֶם׃el-hal/LA/chemto the meal

    And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶת־שָׁאוּלet-Sha/ULSaulנִשְׁאֹלnish/OLask leaveנִשְׁאַלnish/ALasked leave ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidמֵעִמָּדִיme/im/ma/DIof meעַד־בֵּיתad-Betto Beth-לָחֶם׃LA/chemlehem

    And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Beth-lehem:

    And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king's table.

    וַיִּחַר־אַףvay/YI/char-afthen was kindled the anger ofשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulבִּיהוֹנָתָןbI/ho/na/TANagainst Jonathanוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himבֶּן־נַעֲוַתben-na/a/VATson of a perverseהַמַּרְדּוּתham/mar/DUTrebellious womanהֲלוֹאha/LOdo I notיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiknowכִּי־בֹחֵרki-vo/CHERthat are choosingאַתָּהat/TAyouלְבֶן־יִשַׁיle/VEN-yi/SHAYthe son of Jesseלְבׇשְׁתְּךָle/vosh/te/KHAto your own shameוּלְבֹשֶׁתu/le/VO/shetand to the shame ofעֶרְוַתer/VATthe nakedness ofאִמֶּךָ׃im/ME/khayour mother

    Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness?

31. 31

    כִּיkiforכׇל־הַיָּמִיםkhol-hay/ya/MIMas long asאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatבֶּן־יִשַׁיben-Yi/SHAYthe son of Jesseחַיchaylivesעַל־הָאֲדָמָהal-ha/a/da/MAupon the earthלֹאlonotתִכּוֹןtik/KONshall be establishedאַתָּהat/TAyouוּמַלְכוּתֶךָu/mal/khu/TE/khaand your kingdomוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשְׁלַחshe/LACHsendוְקַחve/KACHand bringאֹתוֹo/TOhimאֵלַיe/LAYto meכִּיkiforבֶן־מָוֶתven-MA/veta son of deathהוּא׃huhe is

    For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.

32. 32

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶת־שָׁאוּלet-Sha/ULSaulאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלָמָּהLAM/mawhyיוּמַתyu/MATshall he be put to deathמֶהmewhatעָשָׂה׃a/SAhas he done

    And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?

33. 33

    וַיָּטֶלvay/YA/teland hurledשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶת־הַחֲנִיתet-ha/cha/NITthe spearעָלָיוa/LAYVat himלְהַכֹּתוֹle/hak/ko/TOto strike himוַיֵּדַעvay/YE/daand knewיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanכִּי־כָלָהki-kha/LAthat it was determinedהִיאhiitמֵעִםme/IMbyאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITto killאֶת־דָּוִד׃et-Da/VIDDavid

    And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

34. 34

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanמֵעִםme/IMfromהַשֻּׁלְחָןhash/shul/CHANthe tableבׇּחֳרִי־אָףbo/cho/RI-afin fierce angerוְלֹא־אָכַלve/LO-a/KHALand ate noבְּיוֹם־הַחֹדֶשׁbe/YOM-ha/CHO/deshon the day of the new moonהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondלֶחֶםLE/chemfoodכִּיkiforנֶעְצַבne/TSAVhe was grievedאֶל־דָּוִדel-Da/VIDfor Davidכִּיkibecauseהִכְלִמוֹhikh/li/MOhad disgraced himאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.

35. 35

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַבֹּקֶרvab/BO/kerin the morningוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEinto the fieldלְמוֹעֵדle/mo/EDat the appointment withדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidוְנַעַרve/NA/arand a ladקָטֹןka/TONlittleעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.

36. 36

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְנַעֲרוֹle/na/a/ROto his ladרֻץrutsrunמְצָאme/TSAfindנָאnaI prayאֶת־הַחִצִּיםet-ha/chits/TSIMthe arrowsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמוֹרֶהmo/REam shootingהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe ladרָץratsranוְהוּא־יָרָהve/HU-ya/RAand he shotהַחֵצִיha/CHE/tsithe arrowלְהַעֲבִרוֹ׃le/ha/a/vi/RObeyond him

    And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.

37. 37

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe ladעַד־מְקוֹםad-me/KOMto the place ofהַחֵצִיha/CHE/tsithe arrowאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichיָרָהya/RAhad shotיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe ladוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהֲלוֹאha/LOis notהַחֵצִיha/CHE/tsithe arrowמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youוָהָלְאָה׃va/HAL/aand beyond

    And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?

38. 38

    וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe ladמְהֵרָהme/he/RAquicklyחוּשָׁהCHU/shahurryאַל־תַּעֲמֹדal-ta/a/MODdo not stand stillוַיְלַקֵּטvay/lak/KETand he gathered upנַעַרNA/arthe lad ofיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶת־[הַחִצִּים]et-ha/chits/TSIMthe arrows(החצי)hachatsayוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־אֲדֹנָיו׃el-a/do/NAYVto his master

    And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.

39. 39

    וְהַנַּעַרve/han/NA/arbut the ladלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAdid not knowמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingאַךְakhonlyיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanוְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidיָדְעוּya/de/Uknewאֶת־הַדָּבָר׃et-had/da/VARthe matter

    But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

40. 40

    וַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand gaveיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶת־כֵּלָיוet-ke/LAYVhis weaponsאֶל־הַנַּעַרel-han/NA/arto the ladאֲשֶׁר־לוֹa/SHER-lowho was hisוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himלֵךְlekhgoהָבֵיאha/VEcarry themהָעִיר׃ha/IRto the city

    And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.

41. 41

    הַנַּעַרhan/NA/arthe ladבָּאbawentוְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidקָםkamaroseמֵאֵצֶלme/E/tselfrom besideהַנֶּגֶבhan/NE/gevthe southוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellלְאַפָּיוle/ap/PAYVon his faceאַרְצָהAR/tsato the groundוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand bowedשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesוַיִּשְּׁקוּvay/yish/she/KUand they kissedאִישׁishoneאֶת־רֵעֵהוּet-re/E/huanotherוַיִּבְכּוּvay/yiv/KUand they weptאִישׁishoneאֶת־רֵעֵהוּet-re/E/huanotherעַד־דָּוִדad-Da/VIDuntil Davidהִגְדִּיל׃hig/DILwept more

    And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.

42. 42

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanלְדָוִדle/Da/VIDto Davidלֵךְlekhgoלְשָלוֹםle/sha/LOMin peaceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERsinceנִשְׁבַּעְנוּnish/BA/nuwe have swornשְׁנֵינוּshe/NE/nuboth of usאֲנַחְנוּa/NACH/nuweבְּשֵׁםbe/SHEMin the name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beבֵּינִיbe/NIbetween meוּבֵינֶךָu/ve/NE/khaand between youוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenזַרְעִיzar/Imy seedוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenזַרְעֲךָzar/a/KHAyour seedעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

    And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever.
