   And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.

   But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

   וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֵצֵאe/TSEwill go outוְעָמַדְתִּיve/a/mad/TIand standלְיַד־אָבִיle/YAD-a/VIbeside my fatherבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEin the fieldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereאַתָּהat/TAyou areשָׁםshamthereוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאֲדַבֵּרa/dab/BERwill speakבְּךָbe/KHAof youאֶל־אָבִיel-a/VIto my fatherוְרָאִיתִיve/ra/I/tiand if I seeמָהmaanythingוְהִגַּדְתִּיve/hig/GAD/tiI will tellלָךְ׃lakhyou

   And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

   And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

   וַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semfor he tookאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis lifeבְכַפּוֹve/khap/POin his handוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֶת־הַפְּלִשְׁתִּיet-Hap/pe/lish/TIthe Philistineוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand wroughtיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDתְּשׁוּעָהte/shu/Adeliveranceגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatלְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלle/KHOL-yis/ra/ELto all Israelרָאִיתָra/I/tayou saw itוַתִּשְׂמָחvat/tis/MACHand rejoicedוְלָמָּהve/LAM/maand whyתֶחֱטָאte/che/TAwill you sinבְּדָםbe/DAMagainst bloodנָקִיna/KIinnocentלְהָמִיתle/ha/MITby killingאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidחִנָּם׃chin/NAMwithout cause

   For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voice ofיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanוַיִּשָּׁבַעvay/yish/sha/VAand sworeשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulחַי־יְהֹוָהchay-Adonaias the LORD livesאִם־יוּמָת׃im-yu/MAThe shall not be put to death

   And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanלְדָוִדLe/da/VIDDavidוַיַּגֶּד־לוֹvay/YAG/ged-loand told himיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיָּבֵאvay/ya/VEand broughtיְהוֹנָתָןYe/ho/na/TANJonathanאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULto Saulוַיְהִיvay/HIand he wasלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himכְּאֶתְמוֹלke/et/MOLas yesterdayשִׁלְשׁוֹם׃shil/SHOMand before

   And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

   וַתּוֹסֶףvat/TO/sefand againהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAthe warלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTthere wasוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outדָוִדDa/VIDDavidוַיִּלָּחֶםvay/yil/LA/chemand he foughtבַּפְּלִשְׁתִּיםbap/Pe/lish/TIMwith the Philistinesוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckבָּהֶםba/HEMthemמַכָּהmak/KAwith a slaughterגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַיָּנֻסוּvay/ya/NU/suand they fledמִפָּנָיו׃mip/pa/NAYVfrom before him

   And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.

   וַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand cameרוּחַRU/acha spirit ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDרָעָהra/Aevilאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULupon Saulוְהוּאve/HUand heבְּבֵיתוֹbe/ve/TOin his houseיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwas sittingוַחֲנִיתוֹva/cha/ni/TOand his spearבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidמְנַגֵּןme/nag/GENwas playingבְּיָד׃be/YADwith his hand

   And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.

    וַיְבַקֵּשׁvay/vak/KESHand soughtשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulלְהַכּוֹתle/hak/KOTto strikeבַּחֲנִיתba/cha/NITwith the spearבְּדָוִדBe/da/VIDDavidוּבַקִּירu/vak/KIRto the wallוַיִּפְטַרvay/yif/TARbut he slipped awayמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEfromשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckאֶת־הַחֲנִיתet-ha/cha/NITthe spearבַּקִּירbak/KIRin the wallוְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidנָסnasfledוַיִּמָּלֵטvay/yim/ma/LETand he escapedבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/laon the nightהוּא׃huthat

    And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersאֶל־בֵּיתel-betto the house ofדָּוִדDa/VIDDavidלְשׇׁמְרוֹle/shom/ROto watch himוְלַהֲמִיתוֹve/la/ha/mi/TOand to kill himבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַתַּגֵּדvat/tag/GEDbut toldלְדָוִדLe/da/VIDDavidמִיכַלMi/KHALMichalאִשְׁתּוֹish/TOhis wifeלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִם־אֵינְךָim-e/ne/KHAif you do notמְמַלֵּטme/mal/LETsaveאֶת־נַפְשְׁךָet-naf/she/KHAyour lifeהַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/latonightמָחָרma/CHARtomorrowאַתָּהat/TAyouמוּמָת׃mu/MATwill be killed

    Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.

    וַתֹּרֶדvat/TO/redso let downמִיכַלMi/KHALMichalאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidבְּעַדbe/ADthroughהַחַלּוֹןha/chal/LONthe windowוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentוַיִּבְרַחvay/yiv/RACHand fledוַיִּמָּלֵט׃vay/yim/ma/LETand he escaped

    So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.

13. 13

    וַתִּקַּחvat/tik/KACHand she tookמִיכַלMi/KHALMichalאֶת־הַתְּרָפִיםet-hat/te/ra/FIMthe teraphimוַתָּשֶׂםvat/TA/semand laid itאֶל־הַמִּטָּהel-ham/mit/TAon the bedוְאֵתve/ETandכְּבִירke/VIRa pillow ofהָעִזִּיםha/iz/ZIMgoats’ hairשָׂמָהSA/mashe putמְרַאֲשֹׁתָיוme/ra/a/sho/TAYVat its headוַתְּכַסvat/te/KHASand covered itבַּבָּגֶד׃bab/BA/gedwith a cloth

    And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.

14. 14

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidחֹלֶהcho/LEis sickהוּא׃huhe

    And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.

15. 15

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶת־הַמַּלְאָכִיםet-ham/mal/a/KHIMthe messengersלִרְאוֹתlir/OTto seeאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהַעֲלוּha/a/LUbring upאֹתוֹo/TOhimבַמִּטָּהvam/mit/TAin the bedאֵלַיe/LAYto meלַהֲמִתוֹ׃la/ha/mi/TOto kill him

    And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.

16. 16

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameהַמַּלְאָכִיםham/mal/a/KHIMthe messengersוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdהַתְּרָפִיםhat/te/ra/FIMthe teraphimאֶל־הַמִּטָּהel-ham/mit/TAin the bedוּכְבִירu/khe/VIRwith the pillow ofהָעִזִּיםha/iz/ZIMgoats’ hairמְרַאֲשֹׁתָיו׃me/ra/a/sho/TAYVat its head

    And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶל־מִיכַלel-Mi/KHALto MichalלָמָּהLAM/mawhyכָּכָהKA/khasoרִמִּיתִנִיrim/mi/TI/nihave you deceived meוַתְּשַׁלְּחִיvat/te/shal/le/CHIand let goאֶת־אֹיְבִיet-oy/VImy enemyוַיִּמָּלֵטvay/yim/ma/LETso that he escapedוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidמִיכַלMi/KHALMichalאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULto Saulהוּא־אָמַרhu-a/MARhe saidאֵלַיe/LAYto meשַׁלְּחִנִיshal/le/CHI/nilet me goלָמָהla/MAwhyאֲמִיתֵךְ׃a/mi/TEKHshould I kill you

    And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?

    וְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidבָּרַחba/RACHfledוַיִּמָּלֵטvay/yim/ma/LETand he escapedוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelהָרָמָתָהha/Ra/MA/tato Ramahוַיַּגֶּד־לוֹvay/YAG/ged-loand told himאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatעָשָׂה־לוֹa/SA-lohad done to himשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentהוּאhuheוּשְׁמוּאֵלu/She/mu/ELand Samuelוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand stayed(בנוית)vanavayat[בְּנָיוֹת]׃Be/na/YOTin Naioth

    So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.

19. 19

    וַיֻּגַּדvay/yug/GADand it was toldלְשָׁאוּלLe/sha/ULSaulלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdדָוִדDa/VIDDavid(בנוית)vanavayat[בְּנָיוֹת]Be/na/YOTin Naiothבָּרָמָה׃ba/Ra/MAin Ramah

    And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersלָקַחַתla/KA/chatto takeאֶת־דָּוִדet-Da/VIDDavidוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֶת־לַהֲקַתet-la/ha/KATthe company ofהַנְּבִיאִיםhan/ne/vi/IMthe prophetsנִבְּאִיםnib/be/IMprophesyingוּשְׁמוּאֵלu/She/mu/ELand Samuelעֹמֵדo/MEDstandingנִצָּבnits/TSAVpresidingעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMover themוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIthen cameעַל־מַלְאֲכֵיal-mal/a/KHEupon the messengers ofשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulרוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיִּתְנַבְּאוּvay/yit/nab/be/Uand they prophesiedגַּם־הֵמָּה׃gam-HEM/mathey also

    And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

    וַיַּגִּדוּvay/yag/GI/duand when toldלְשָׁאוּלLe/sha/ULSaulוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMothersוַיִּתְנַבְּאוּvay/yit/nab/be/Uand they prophesiedגַּם־הֵמָּהgam-HEM/mathey alsoוַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersשְׁלִשִׁיםshe/li/SHIMa third timeוַיִּתְנַבְּאוּvay/yit/nab/be/Uand they prophesiedגַּם־הֵמָּה׃gam-HEM/mathey also

    And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoהָרָמָתָהha/Ra/MA/tato Ramahוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameעַד־בּוֹרad-borto the wellהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבַּשֶּׂכוּbas/SE/khuthat is in Secuוַיִּשְׁאַלvay/yish/ALand askedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵיפֹהe/FOwhere areשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוְדָוִדve/Da/VIDand Davidוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהִנֵּהhin/NEbehold(בנוית)vanavayat[בְּנָיוֹת]Be/na/YOTin Naiothבָּרָמָה׃ba/Ra/MAin Ramah

    Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentשָׁםshamthereאֶל־[נָיוֹת]el-Na/YOTto Naiothבָּרָמָהba/Ra/MAin Ramahוַתְּהִיvat/te/HIand cameעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himגַּם־הוּאgam-huhim alsoרוּחַRU/achthe Spirit ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand he wentהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoingוַיִּתְנַבֵּאvay/yit/nab/BEand he prophesiedעַד־בֹּאוֹad-bo/Ountil he came(בנוית)vanavayat[בְּנָיוֹת]Be/na/YOTin Naiothבָּרָמָה׃ba/Ra/MAin Ramah

    And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

    וַיִּפְשַׁטvay/yif/SHATand he stripped offגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoבְּגָדָיוbe/ga/DAYVhis garmentsוַיִּתְנַבֵּאvay/yit/nab/BEand he prophesiedגַם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand layעָרֹםa/ROMnakedכׇּל־הַיּוֹםkol-hay/YOMall the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatוְכׇל־הַלָּיְלָהve/KHOL-hal/LAY/laand all the nightעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUthey sayהֲגַםha/GAMis alsoשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulבַּנְּבִיאִם׃ban/ne/vi/IMamong the prophets

    And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
