   Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.

   Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.

   עַתָּהat/TAnowלֵךְlekhgoוְהִכִּיתָהve/hik/ki/TAand strikeאֶת־עֲמָלֵקet-A/ma/LEKAmalekוְהַחֲרַמְתֶּםve/ha/cha/ram/TEMand utterly destroyאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹet-kol-a/SHER-loall that he hasוְלֹאve/LOand do notתַחְמֹלtach/MOLspareעָלָיוa/LAYVhimוְהֵמַתָּהve/he/mat/TAbut killמֵאִישׁme/ISHboth manעַד־אִשָּׁהad-ish/SHAand womanמֵעֹלֵלme/o/LELchildוְעַד־יוֹנֵקve/AD-yo/NEKand nursing infantמִשּׁוֹרmish/SHORoxוְעַד־שֶׂהve/AD-seand sheepמִגָּמָלmig/ga/MALcamelוְעַד־חֲמוֹר׃ve/AD-cha/MORand donkey

   Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

   וַיְשַׁמַּעvay/sham/MAand summonedשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוַיִּפְקְדֵםvay/yif/ke/DEMand numbered themבַּטְּלָאִיםbat/Te/la/IMin Telaimמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredאֶלֶףE/lefthousandרַגְלִיrag/LIfootmenוַעֲשֶׂרֶתva/a/SE/retand tenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאֶת־אִישׁet-ishthe men ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

   And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulעַד־עִירad-irto the city ofעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekוַיָּרֶבvay/YA/revand lay in waitבַּנָּחַל׃ban/NA/chalin the valley

   And Saul came to a city of Amalek, and laid wait in the valley.

   And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

   וַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶת־עֲמָלֵקet-A/ma/LEKAmalekמֵחֲוִילָהme/Cha/vi/LAfrom Havilahבּוֹאֲךָbo/a/KHAas you go toשׁוּרShurShurאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEover againstמִצְרָיִם׃Mits/RA/yimEgypt

   And Saul smote the Amalekites from Havilah until thou comest to Shur, that is over against Egypt.

   וַיִּתְפֹּשׂvay/yit/POSand he tookאֶת־אֲגַגet-A/GAGAgagמֶלֶךְ־עֲמָלֵקME/lekh-A/ma/LEKthe king of Amalekחָיchayaliveוְאֶת־כׇּל־הָעָםve/ET-kol-ha/AMand all the peopleהֶחֱרִיםhe/che/RIMhe utterly destroyedלְפִי־חָרֶב׃le/FI-CHA/revby the edge of the sword

   And he took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

   וַיַּחְמֹלvay/yach/MOLbut sparedשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleעַל־אֲגָגal-A/GAGAgagוְעַל־מֵיטַבve/AL-me/TAVand the best ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe sheepוְהַבָּקָרve/hab/ba/KARand of the oxenוְהַמִּשְׁנִיםve/ham/mish/NIMand of the fatlingsוְעַל־הַכָּרִיםve/AL-hak/ka/RIMand the lambsוְעַל־כׇּל־הַטּוֹבve/AL-kol-hat/TOVand all that was goodוְלֹאve/LOand notאָבוּa/VUwould theyהַחֲרִימָםha/cha/ri/MAMutterly destroy themוְכׇל־הַמְּלָאכָהve/KHOL-ham/me/la/KHAbut everythingנְמִבְזָהne/miv/ZAthat was despisedוְנָמֵסve/na/MESand worthlessאֹתָהּo/TAthatהֶחֱרִימוּ׃he/che/RI/muthey utterly destroyed

   But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not utterly destroy them: but every thing that was vile and refuse, that they destroyed utterly.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying,

    נִחַמְתִּיni/CHAM/tiI repentכִּי־הִמְלַכְתִּיki-him/LAKH/tithat I have made kingאֶת־שָׁאוּלet-Sha/ULSaulלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhkingכִּי־שָׁבki-shavfor he has turned backמֵאַחֲרַיme/a/cha/RAYfrom following Meוְאֶת־דְּבָרַיve/ET-de/va/RAYand My wordsלֹאlonotהֵקִיםhe/KIMhe has performedוַיִּחַרvay/YI/charand was angryלִשְׁמוּאֵלLish/mu/ELSamuelוַיִּזְעַקvay/yiz/AKand he criedאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDכׇּל־הַלָּיְלָה׃kol-hal/LAY/laall night

    It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.

    וַיַּשְׁכֵּםvay/yash/KEMand rose earlyשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיֻּגַּדvay/yug/GADand it was toldלִשְׁמוּאֵלLish/mu/ELto Samuelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבָּא־שָׁאוּלBa-sha/ULSaul cameהַכַּרְמֶלָהhak/Kar/ME/lato Carmelוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdמַצִּיבmats/TSIVhe is setting upלוֹlofor himselfיָדyada monumentוַיִּסֹּבvay/yis/SOVand has turnedוַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORand passed onוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redand went downהַגִּלְגָּל׃hag/Gil/GALto Gilgal

    And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and, behold, he set him up a place, and is gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULto Saulוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulבָּרוּךְba/RUKHblessed beאַתָּהat/TAyouלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiof the LORDהֲקִימֹתִיha/ki/MO/tiI have performedאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelוּמֶהu/MEwhat then isקוֹל־הַצֹּאןkol-hats/TSONthe sound of the sheepהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּאׇזְנָיbe/oz/NAYin my earsוְקוֹלve/KOLand the sound ofהַבָּקָרhab/ba/KARthe oxenאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIשֹׁמֵעַ׃sho/ME/ahear

    And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulמֵעֲמָלֵקִיme/A/ma/le/KIfrom the Amalekitesהֱבִיאוּםhe/vi/UMthey have brought themאֲשֶׁרa/SHERforחָמַלcha/MALsparedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleעַל־מֵיטַבal-me/TAVthe best ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe sheepוְהַבָּקָרve/hab/ba/KARand the oxenלְמַעַןle/MA/antoזְבֹחַze/VO/achsacrificeלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godוְאֶת־הַיּוֹתֵרve/ET-hay/yo/TERand the restהֶחֱרַמְנוּ׃he/che/RAM/nuwe have utterly destroyed

    And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULto SaulהֶרֶףHE/refstopוְאַגִּידָהve/ag/GI/daand I will tellלְּךָle/KHAyouאֵת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERwhatדִּבֶּרdib/BERsaidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלַיe/LAYto meהַלָּיְלָהhal/LAY/latonight(ויאמרו)vaymarav[וַיֹּאמֶר]vay/YO/merand he saidלוֹloto himדַּבֵּר׃dab/BERspeak

    Then Samuel said unto Saul, Stay, and I will tell thee what the LORD hath said to me this night. And he said unto him, Say on.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelהֲלוֹאha/LOis it notאִם־קָטֹןim-ka/TONthough littleאַתָּהat/TAyou wereבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your own eyesרֹאשׁroshthe head ofשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאָתָּהAT/tayouוַיִּמְשָׁחֲךָvay/yim/sha/cha/KHAand has anointed youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhkingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃al-Yis/ra/ELover Israel

    And Samuel said, When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee king over Israel?

18. 18

    וַיִּשְׁלָחֲךָvay/yish/la/cha/KHAand sent youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּדָרֶךְbe/DA/rekhon a missionוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֵךְlekhgoוְהַחֲרַמְתָּהve/ha/cha/ram/TAand utterly destroyאֶת־הַחַטָּאִיםet-ha/chat/ta/IMthe sinnersאֶת־עֲמָלֵקet-A/ma/LEKAmalekוְנִלְחַמְתָּve/nil/cham/TAand fightבוֹvoagainst themעַדaduntilכַּלּוֹתָםkal/lo/TAMthey are consumedאֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and utterly destroy the sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.

19. 19

    וְלָמָּהve/LAM/maand whyלֹא־שָׁמַעְתָּlo-sha/MA/tadid you not obeyבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voice ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתַּעַטvat/TA/atbut rushedאֶל־הַשָּׁלָלel-hash/sha/LALupon the spoilוַתַּעַשׂvat/TA/asand didהָרַעha/RAthe evilבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Wherefore then didst thou not obey the voice of the LORD, but didst fly upon the spoil, and didst evil in the sight of the LORD?

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelאֲשֶׁרa/SHERbutשָׁמַעְתִּיsha/MA/tiI have obeyedבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voice ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוָאֵלֵךְva/e/LEKHand I wentבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayאֲשֶׁר־שְׁלָחַנִיa/SHER-she/la/CHA/nion which sent meיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוָאָבִיאva/a/VIand I broughtאֶת־אֲגַגet-A/GAGAgagמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekוְאֶת־עֲמָלֵקve/ET-a/ma/LEKand Amalekהֶחֱרַמְתִּי׃he/che/RAM/tiI have utterly destroyed

    And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalekites.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמֵהַשָּׁלָלme/hash/sha/LALof the spoilצֹאןtsonsheepוּבָקָרu/va/KARand oxenרֵאשִׁיתre/SHITthe best ofהַחֵרֶםha/CHE/remthe devoted thingsלִזְבֹּחַliz/BO/achto sacrificeלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godבַּגִּלְגָּל׃bag/Gil/GALin Gilgal

    But the people took of the spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in Gilgal.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelהַחֵפֶץha/CHE/fetshas delightלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaithe LORDבְּעֹלוֹתbe/o/LOTin burnt offeringsוּזְבָחִיםu/ze/va/CHIMand sacrificesכִּשְׁמֹעַkish/MO/aas in obeyingבְּקוֹלbe/KOLthe voice ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdשְׁמֹעַshe/MO/ato obeyמִזֶּבַחmiz/ZE/vachthan sacrificeטוֹבtovis betterלְהַקְשִׁיבle/hak/SHIVto heedמֵחֵלֶבme/CHE/levthan the fat ofאֵילִים׃e/LIMrams

    And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

23. 23

    כִּיkiforחַטַּאת־קֶסֶםchat/TAT-KE/semas the sin of divinationמֶרִיME/riis rebellionוְאָוֶןve/A/venand wickednessוּתְרָפִיםu/te/ra/FIMand teraphimהַפְצַרhaf/TSARis stubbornnessיַעַןYA/anbecauseמָאַסְתָּma/AS/tayou have rejectedאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּמְאָסְךָvay/yim/a/se/KHAHe has rejected youמִמֶּלֶךְ׃mim/ME/lekhfrom being king

    For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶל־שְׁמוּאֵלel-She/mu/ELto Samuelחָטָאתִיcha/TA/tiI have sinnedכִּי־עָבַרְתִּיki-a/VAR/tifor I have transgressedאֶת־פִּי־יְהֹוָהet-pi-Adonaithe command of the LORDוְאֶת־דְּבָרֶיךָve/ET-de/va/RE/khaand your wordsכִּיkibecauseיָרֵאתִיya/RE/tiI fearedאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוָאֶשְׁמַעva/esh/MAand obeyedבְּקוֹלָם׃be/ko/LAMtheir voice

    And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשָׂאsaforgiveנָאnaI prayאֶת־חַטָּאתִיet-chat/ta/TImy sinוְשׁוּבve/SHUVand returnעִמִּיim/MIwith meוְאֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶהve/esh/ta/cha/VEthat I may worshipלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    Now therefore, I pray thee, pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

26. 26

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULto Saulלֹאlonotאָשׁוּבa/SHUVwill I returnעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youכִּיkiforמָאַסְתָּהma/AS/tayou have rejectedאֶת־דְּבַרet-de/VARthe word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיִּמְאָסְךָvay/yim/a/se/KHAand has rejected youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִהְיוֹתmih/YOTfrom beingמֶלֶךְME/lekhkingעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃al-Yis/ra/ELover Israel

    And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel.

    וַיִּסֹּבvay/yis/SOVand as turnedשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelלָלֶכֶתla/LE/khetto goוַיַּחֲזֵקvay/ya/cha/ZEKhe took holdבִּכְנַף־מְעִילוֹbikh/NAF-me/i/LOon the skirt of his robeוַיִּקָּרַע׃vay/yik/ka/RAand it tore

    And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent.

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelקָרַעka/RAhas tornיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מַמְלְכוּתet-mam/le/KHUTthe kingdom ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמֵעָלֶיךָme/a/LE/khafrom youהַיּוֹםhay/YOMtodayוּנְתָנָהּu/ne/ta/NAand has given itלְרֵעֲךָle/re/a/KHAto a neighbor of yoursהַטּוֹבhat/TOVwho is betterמִמֶּךָּ׃mim/MEK/kathan you

    And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou.

29. 29

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoנֵצַחNE/tsachthe Strength ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֹאlonotיְשַׁקֵּרye/shak/KERwill lieוְלֹאve/LOand notיִנָּחֵםyin/na/CHEMrepentכִּיkiforלֹאlonotאָדָםa/DAMa manהוּאhuHe isלְהִנָּחֵם׃le/hin/na/CHEMthat He should repent

    And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחָטָאתִיcha/TA/tiI have sinnedעַתָּהat/TAnowכַּבְּדֵנִיkab/be/DE/nihonor meנָאnaI prayנֶגֶדNE/gedbeforeזִקְנֵי־עַמִּיzik/NE-am/MIthe elders of my peopleוְנֶגֶדve/NE/gedand beforeיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְשׁוּבve/SHUVand returnעִמִּיim/MIwith meוְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֵיתִיve/hish/ta/cha/VE/tithat I may worshipלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָ׃e/lo/HE/khayour God

    Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovso turned backשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand worshipedשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulלַיהֹוָה׃la-Adonaito the LORD

    So Samuel turned again after Saul; and Saul worshipped the LORD.

32. 32

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelהַגִּישׁוּhag/GI/shubring hereאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶת־אֲגַגet-A/GAGAgagמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofעֲמָלֵקA/ma/LEKAmalekוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֲגַגA/GAGAgagמַעֲדַנֹּתma/a/dan/NOTdelicatelyוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲגָגA/GAGAgagאָכֵןa/KHENsurelyסָרsaris pastמַר־הַמָּוֶת׃mar-ham/MA/vetthe bitterness of death

    Then said Samuel, Bring ye hither to me Agag the king of the Amalekites. And Agag came unto him delicately. And Agag said, Surely the bitterness of death is past.

33. 33

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasשִׁכְּלָהshik/ke/LAhas made childlessנָשִׁיםna/SHIMwomenחַרְבֶּךָchar/BE/khayour swordכֵּן־תִּשְׁכַּלken-tish/KALso shall be childlessמִנָּשִׁיםmin/na/SHIMamong womenאִמֶּךָim/ME/khayour motherוַיְשַׁסֵּףvay/shas/SEFand hewed in piecesשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאֶת־אֲגָגet-A/GAGAgagלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבַּגִּלְגָּל׃bag/Gil/GALin Gilgal

    And Samuel said, As thy sword hath made women childless, so shall thy mother be childless among women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the LORD in Gilgal.

34. 34

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelהָרָמָתָהha/Ra/MA/tato Ramahוְשָׁאוּלve/Sha/ULand Saulעָלָהa/LAwent upאֶל־בֵּיתוֹel-be/TOto his houseגִּבְעַתGiv/ATto Gibeah ofשָׁאוּל׃Sha/ULSaul

    Then Samuel went to Ramah; and Saul went up to his house to Gibeah of Saul.

35. 35

    וְלֹא־יָסַףve/LO-ya/SAFand did not againשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelלִרְאוֹתlir/OTseeאֶת־שָׁאוּלet-Sha/ULSaulעַד־יוֹםad-yomuntil the day ofמוֹתוֹmo/TOhis deathכִּי־הִתְאַבֵּלki-hit/ab/BELfor mournedשְׁמוּאֵלShe/mu/ELSamuelאֶל־שָׁאוּלel-Sha/ULfor Saulוַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDנִחָםni/CHAMrepentedכִּי־הִמְלִיךְki-him/LIKHthat He had made kingאֶת־שָׁאוּלet-Sha/ULSaulעַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃al-Yis/ra/ELover Israel

    And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
