   Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.

   They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.

   The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; and Berachah, and Jehu the Antothite,

   And Ismaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty;

    Jeremiah the tenth, Machbanai the eleventh.

    אֵלֶּהEL/letheseמִבְּנֵי־גָדmib/Be/NE-gadof the children of Gadרָאשֵׁיra/SHEheads ofהַצָּבָאhats/tsa/VAthe armyאֶחָדe/CHADoneלְמֵאָהle/me/Afor a hundredהַקָּטָןhak/ka/TANthe leastוְהַגָּדוֹלve/hag/ga/DOLand the greatestלְאָלֶף׃le/A/leffor a thousand

    These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.

    אֵלֶּהEL/letheseהֵםhemare theyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoעָבְרוּa/ve/RUwent overאֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּןet-Hay/yar/DENthe Jordanבַּחֹדֶשׁba/CHO/deshin the monthהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstוְהוּאve/HUwhen itמְמַלֵּאme/mal/LEwas overflowingעַל־כׇּל־[גְּדוֹתָיו]al-kol-ge/do/TAYVall its banksוַיַּבְרִיחוּvay/yav/RI/chuand they put to flightאֶת־כׇּל־הָעֲמָקִיםet-kol-ha/a/ma/KIMall the valleysלַמִּזְרָחlam/miz/RACHtowards the eastוְלַמַּעֲרָב׃ve/lam/ma/a/RAVand towards the west

    These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameמִן־בְּנֵיmin-be/NEof the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judahעַד־לַמְצָדad-lam/TSADto the strongholdלְדָוִיד׃le/Da/VIDto David

    And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David.

18. 18

    וַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outדָוִידDa/VIDDavidלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themאִם־לְשָׁלוֹםim-le/sha/LOMif in peaceבָּאתֶםba/TEMyou have comeאֵלַיe/LAYto meלְעׇזְרֵנִיle/oz/RE/nito help meיִהְיֶה־לִּיyih/YE-lithere shall be to meעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMtoward youלֵבָבle/VAVa heartלְיָחַדle/YA/chadunitedוְאִם־לְרַמּוֹתַנִיve/IM-le/ram/mo/TA/nibut if to betray meלְצָרַיle/tsa/RAYto my adversariesבְּלֹאbe/LOwith noחָמָסcha/MASviolenceבְּכַפַּיbe/khap/PAYin my handsיֵרֶאYE/remay seeאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofאֲבוֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuour fathersוְיוֹכַח׃ve/yo/KHACHand rebuke

    And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

    Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

    וּמִמְּנַשֶּׁהu/Mim/me/nash/SHEand of Manassehנָפְלוּna/fe/LUdesertedעַל־דָּוִידal-Da/VIDto Davidבְּבֹאוֹbe/vo/Owhen he cameעִם־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםim-Pe/lish/TIMwith the Philistinesעַל־שָׁאוּלal-Sha/ULagainst Saulלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleוְלֹאve/LObut notעֲזָרֻםa/za/RUMdid he help themכִּיkiforבְעֵצָהve/e/TSAby counselשִׁלְּחֻהוּshil/le/CHU/husent him awayסַרְנֵיsar/NEthe lords ofפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבְּרָאשֵׁינוּbe/ra/SHE/nuat the cost of our headsיִפּוֹלyip/POLhe will desertאֶל־אֲדֹנָיוel-a/do/NAYVto his masterשָׁאוּל׃Sha/ULSaul

    And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

    As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.

    וְהֵמָּהve/HEM/maand theyעָזְרוּa/ze/RUhelpedעִם־דָּוִידIm-da/VIDDavidעַל־הַגְּדוּדal-hag/ge/DUDagainst the bandכִּי־גִבּוֹרֵיki-gib/BO/refor mighty men ofחַיִלCHA/yilvalorכֻּלָּםkul/LAMall of themוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereשָׂרִיםsa/RIMcommandersבַּצָּבָא׃bats/tsa/VAin the army

    And they helped David against the band of the rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.

23. 23

    כִּיkiforלְעֶת־יוֹםle/ET-yomfrom dayבְּיוֹםbe/YOMto dayיָבֹאוּya/VO/uthey cameעַל־דָּוִידal-Da/VIDto Davidלְעׇזְרוֹle/oz/ROto help himעַד־לְמַחֲנֶהad-le/ma/cha/NEuntil a campגָדוֹלga/DOLgreatכְּמַחֲנֵהke/ma/cha/NElike the camp ofאֱלֹהִים׃e/lo/HIMGod

    For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

24. 24

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseמִסְפְּרֵיmis/pe/REthe numbers ofרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe heads ofהֶחָלוּץhe/cha/LUTSthe armedלַצָּבָאlats/tsa/VAfor warבָּאוּBA/uwho cameעַל־דָּוִידal-Da/VIDto DavidחֶבְרוֹנָהChev/RO/nato Hebronלְהָסֵבle/ha/SEVto turnמַלְכוּתmal/KHUTthe kingdom ofשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himכְּפִיke/FIaccording to the mouth ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.

    בְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ebearingצִנָּהtsin/NAshieldוָרֹמַחva/RO/machand spearשֵׁשֶׁתSHE/shetsixאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוּשְׁמוֹנֶהu/she/mo/NEand eightמֵאוֹתme/OThundredחֲלוּצֵיcha/lu/TSEarmed forצָבָא׃tsa/VAwar

    The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.

26. 26

    מִן־בְּנֵיmin-be/NEof the children ofשִׁמְעוֹןShim/ONSimeonגִּבּוֹרֵיgib/bo/REmighty men ofחַיִלCHA/yilvalorלַצָּבָאlats/tsa/VAfor warשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוּמֵאָה׃u/me/Aand one hundred

    Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

27. 27

    מִן־בְּנֵיmin-be/NEof the children ofהַלֵּוִיHal/le/VILeviאַרְבַּעַתar/BA/atfourאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוְשֵׁשׁve/SHESHand sixמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.

28. 28

    וִיהוֹיָדָעVi/ho/ya/DAand Jehoiadaהַנָּגִידhan/na/GIDthe leaderלְאַהֲרֹןle/A/ha/RONof Aaronוְעִמּוֹve/im/MOand with himשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוּשְׁבַעu/she/VAand sevenמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred;

29. 29

    וְצָדוֹקve/Tsa/DOKand ZadokנַעַרNA/ara young manגִּבּוֹרgib/BORmighty ofחָיִלCHA/yilvalorוּבֵית־אָבִיוu/VET-a/VIVand his father's houseשָׂרִיםsa/RIMcommandersעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyוּשְׁנָיִם׃u/she/NA/yimand two

    And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father's house twenty and two captains.

30. 30

    וּמִן־בְּנֵיu/MIN-be/NEand of the children ofבִנְיָמִןVin/ya/MINBenjaminאֲחֵיa/CHEthe brothers ofשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוְעַד־הֵנָּהve/AD-HEN/naand until nowמַרְבִּיתָםmar/bi/TAMmost of themשֹׁמְרִיםshom/RIMwere keepingמִשְׁמֶרֶתmish/ME/retthe charge ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofשָׁאוּל׃Sha/ULSaul

    And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul.

    וּמִן־בְּנֵיu/MIN-be/NEand of the children ofאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandוּשְׁמוֹנֶהu/she/mo/NEand eightמֵאוֹתme/OThundredגִּבּוֹרֵיgib/bo/REmighty men ofחַיִלCHA/yilvalorאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEmen ofשֵׁמוֹתshe/MOTnamesלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבוֹתָם׃a/vo/TAMtheir fathers

    And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their fathers.

    וּמֵחֲצִיu/me/cha/TSIand of the halfמַטֵּהmat/TEthe tribe ofמְנַשֶּׁהMe/nash/SHEManassehשְׁמוֹנָה־עָשָׂרshe/mo/NA-a/SAReighteenאָלֶףA/lefthousandאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִקְּבוּnik/ke/VUwere designatedבְּשֵׁמוֹתbe/she/MOTby namesלָבוֹאla/VOto comeלְהַמְלִיךְle/ham/LIKHto make kingאֶת־דָּוִיד׃et-Da/VIDDavid

    And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king.

    וּמִבְּנֵיu/mib/be/NEand of the children ofיִשָּׂשכָרYis/sash/KHARIssacharיוֹדְעֵיyod/Eknowers ofבִינָהvi/NAunderstandingלַעִתִּיםla/it/TIMthe timesלָדַעַתla/DA/atto knowמַה־יַּעֲשֶׂהma-ya/a/SEwhat should doיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelרָאשֵׁיהֶםra/she/HEMtheir headsמָאתַיִםma/TA/yimtwo hundredוְכׇל־אֲחֵיהֶםve/KHOL-a/che/HEMand all their brothersעַל־פִּיהֶם׃al-pi/HEMat their commandment

    And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

    מִזְּבֻלוּןmiz/Ze/vu/LUNfrom Zebulunיוֹצְאֵיyots/Egoing out toצָבָאtsa/VAwarעֹרְכֵיor/KHEarrayingמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarבְּכׇל־כְּלֵיbe/KHOL-ke/LEwith all the weapons ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarחֲמִשִּׁיםcha/mish/SHIMfiftyאָלֶףA/lefthousandוְלַעֲדֹרve/la/a/DORand to keep rankבְּלֹא־לֵבbe/LO-levwithout heartוָלֵב׃va/LEVand heart

    Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.

    וּמִנַּפְתָּלִיu/Min/naf/ta/LIand of Naphtaliשָׂרִיםsa/RIMcommandersאָלֶףA/lefa thousandוְעִמָּהֶםve/im/ma/HEMand with themבְּצִנָּהbe/tsin/NAwith shieldוַחֲנִיתva/cha/NITand spearשְׁלֹשִׁיםshe/lo/SHIMthirtyוְשִׁבְעָהve/shiv/Aand sevenאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.

    וּמִן־הַדָּנִיu/MIN-had/da/NIand of the Danitesעֹרְכֵיor/KHEarrayingמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarעֶשְׂרִים־וּשְׁמוֹנָהes/RIM-u/she/mo/NAtwenty and eightאֶלֶףE/lefthousandוְשֵׁשׁve/SHESHand sixמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    And of the Danites expert in war twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.

37. 37

    And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.

    וּמֵעֵבֶרu/me/E/verand on the other side ofלַיַּרְדֵּןlay/Yar/DENthe Jordanמִן־הָראוּבֵנִיmin-Har/u/ve/NIof the Reubenitesוְהַגָּדִיve/hag/Ga/DIand the Gaditesוַחֲצִיva/cha/TSIand halfשֵׁבֶטSHE/vetthe tribe ofמְנַשֶּׁהMe/nash/SHEManassehבְּכֹלbe/KHOLwith allכְּלֵיke/LEthe weapons ofצְבָאtse/VAthe army ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarמֵאָהme/Aa hundredוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

    And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.

    כׇּל־אֵלֶּהkol-EL/leall theseאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarעֹדְרֵיod/REkeepingמַעֲרָכָהma/a/ra/KHArankבְּלֵבָבbe/le/VAVwith a heartשָׁלֵםsha/LEMwholeבָּאוּBA/ucameחֶבְרוֹנָהChev/RO/nato Hebronלְהַמְלִיךְle/ham/LIKHto make kingאֶת־דָּוִידet-Da/VIDDavidעַל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלal-Kol-yis/ra/ELover all Israelוְגַםve/GAMand alsoכׇּל־שֵׁרִיתkol-she/RITall the rest ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵבlevheartאֶחָדe/CHADof oneלְהַמְלִיךְle/ham/LIKHto make kingאֶת־דָּוִיד׃et-Da/VIDDavid

    All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

    וַיִּהְיוּ־שָׁםvay/yih/YU-shamand they were thereעִם־דָּוִידim-Da/VIDwith Davidיָמִיםya/MIMdaysשְׁלוֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeאֹכְלִיםokh/LIMeatingוְשׁוֹתִיםve/sho/TIMand drinkingכִּי־הֵכִינוּki-he/KHI/nufor had preparedלָהֶםla/HEMfor themאֲחֵיהֶם׃a/che/HEMtheir brothers

    And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

    וְגַםve/GAMand alsoהַקְּרוֹבִים־אֲלֵיהֶםhak/ke/ro/VIM-a/le/HEMthose near themעַד־יִשָּׂשכָרad-Yis/sash/KHARas far as Issacharוּזְבֻלוּןu/Ze/vu/LUNand Zebulunוְנַפְתָּלִיve/Naf/ta/LIand Naphtaliמְבִיאִיםme/vi/IMwere bringingלֶחֶםLE/chembreadבַּחֲמוֹרִיםba/cha/mo/RIMon donkeysוּבַגְּמַלִּיםu/vag/ge/mal/LIMand on the camelsוּבַפְּרָדִיםu/vap/pe/ra/DIMand on the mulesוּבַבָּקָרu/vab/ba/KARand on the oxenמַאֲכָלma/a/KHALfood ofקֶמַחKE/machflourדְּבֵלִיםde/ve/LIMfig cakesוְצִמּוּקִיםve/tsim/mu/KIMand raisinsוְיַיִן־וְשֶׁמֶןve/YA/yin-ve/SHE/menand wine and oilוּבָקָרu/va/KARand oxenוְצֹאןve/TSONand sheepלָרֹבla/ROVin abundanceכִּיkiforשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAthere was joyבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

    Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.
