1 Chronicles 10 דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים א פרק י׳

   Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.

   וַיַּדְבְּקוּvay/yad/be/KUand overtookפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsוַיַּכּוּvay/yak/KUand struckפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesאֶת־יוֹנָתָןet-Yo/na/TANJonathanוְאֶת־אֲבִינָדָבve/ET-a/vi/na/DAVand Abinadabוְאֶת־מַלְכִּישׁוּעַve/ET-mal/ki/SHU/aand Malchi-shuaבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofשָׁאוּל׃Sha/ULSaul

   And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, the sons of Saul.

   וַתִּכְבַּדvat/tikh/BADand went hardהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAthe battleעַל־שָׁאוּלal-Sha/ULagainst Saulוַיִּמְצָאֻהוּvay/yim/tsa/U/huand found himהַמּוֹרִיםham/mo/RIMthe archersבַּקָּשֶׁתbak/KA/shetwith the bowוַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland he was in anguishמִן־הַיּוֹרִים׃min-hay/yo/RIMbecause of the archers

   And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶל־נֹשֵׂאel-no/SEto the bearer ofכֵלָיוkhe/LAYVhis armorשְׁלֹףshe/LOFdrawחַרְבְּךָchar/be/KHAyour swordוְדׇקְרֵנִיve/dok/RE/niand run me throughבָהּvawith itפֶּן־יָבֹאוּpen-ya/VO/ulest comeהָעֲרֵלִיםha/a/re/LIMthe uncircumcisedהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְהִתְעַלְּלוּ־בִיve/hit/al/le/LU-viand abuse meוְלֹאve/LObut notאָבָהa/VAwas willingנֹשֵׂאno/SEthe bearer ofכֵלָיוkhe/LAYVhis armorכִּיkiforיָרֵאya/REhe fearedמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulאֶת־הַחֶרֶבet-ha/CHE/revthe swordוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellעָלֶיהָ׃a/LE/haupon it

   Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawנֹשֵׂא־כֵלָיוno/SE-khe/LAYVhis armor bearerכִּיkithatמֵתmetwas deadשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellגַּם־הוּאgam-huhe alsoעַל־הַחֶרֶבal-ha/CHE/revupon the swordוַיָּמֹת׃vay/ya/MOTand he died

   And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.

   וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוּשְׁלֹשֶׁתu/she/LO/shetand the three ofבָּנָיוba/NAYVhis sonsוְכׇל־בֵּיתוֹve/KHOL-be/TOand all his houseיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherמֵתוּ׃ME/tudied

   So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.

   וַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand when sawכׇּל־אִישׁkol-ishall the men ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֲשֶׁר־בָּעֵמֶקa/SHER-ba/E/mekwho were in the valleyכִּיkithatנָסוּNA/suthey had fledוְכִי־מֵתוּve/KHI-ME/tuand that were deadשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוּבָנָיוu/va/NAYVand his sonsוַיַּעַזְבוּvay/ya/az/VUthey abandonedעָרֵיהֶםa/re/HEMtheir citiesוַיָּנֻסוּvay/ya/NU/suand fledוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand cameפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand dweltבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMin them

   And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uwhen cameפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesלְפַשֵּׁטle/fash/SHETto stripאֶת־הַחֲלָלִיםet-ha/cha/la/LIMthe slainוַיִּמְצְאוּvay/yim/tse/Uthat they foundאֶת־שָׁאוּלet-Sha/ULSaulוְאֶת־בָּנָיוve/ET-ba/NAYVand his sonsנֹפְלִיםnof/LIMfallenבְּהַרbe/HARon Mountגִּלְבֹּעַ׃Gil/BO/aGilboa

   And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.

   וַיַּפְשִׁיטֻהוּvay/yaf/shi/TU/huand they stripped himוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand tookאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹet-ro/SHOhis headוְאֶת־כֵּלָיוve/ET-ke/LAYVand his armorוַיְשַׁלְּחוּvay/shal/le/CHUand sentבְאֶרֶץ־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםve/E/rets-pe/lish/TIMinto the land of the Philistinesסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutלְבַשֵּׂרle/vas/SERto carry the news toאֶת־עֲצַבֵּיהֶםet-a/tsab/be/HEMtheir idolsוְאֶת־הָעָם׃ve/ET-ha/AMand to the people

   And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.

    וַיָּשִׂימוּvay/ya/SI/muand they putאֶת־כֵּלָיוet-ke/LAYVhis armorבֵּיתbetin the house ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir godsוְאֶת־גֻּלְגׇּלְתּוֹve/ET-gul/gol/TOand his skullתָקְעוּta/ke/Uthey fastenedבֵּיתbetin the house ofדָּגוֹן׃Da/GONDagon

    And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.

11. 11

    וַיִּשְׁמְעוּvay/yish/me/Uand when heardכֹּלkolallיָבֵישׁYa/VESHJabesh-גִּלְעָדgil/ADgileadאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־עָשׂוּet-kol-a/SHER-a/SUall that had doneפְלִשְׁתִּיםFe/lish/TIMthe Philistinesלְשָׁאוּל׃le/Sha/ULto Saul

    And when all Jabesh-gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,

    וַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muaroseכׇּל־אִישׁkol-ishall the men ofחַיִלCHA/yilvalorוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand took awayאֶת־גּוּפַתet-gu/FATthe body ofשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulוְאֵתve/ETandגּוּפֹתgu/FOTthe bodies ofבָּנָיוba/NAYVhis sonsוַיְבִיאוּםvay/vi/UMand they brought themיָבֵישָׁהYa/VE/shato Jabeshוַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand buriedאֶת־עַצְמוֹתֵיהֶםet-ats/mo/te/HEMtheir bonesתַּחַתTA/chatunderהָאֵלָהha/e/LAthe terebinthבְּיָבֵשׁbe/Ya/VESHin Jabeshוַיָּצוּמוּvay/ya/TSU/muand they fastedשִׁבְעַתshiv/ATsevenיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

    They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.

    וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedשָׁאוּלSha/ULSaulבְּמַעֲלוֹbe/ma/a/LOfor his unfaithfulnessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichמָעַלma/ALhe committedבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiagainst the LORDעַל־דְּבַרal-de/VARagainst the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־שָׁמָרlo-sha/MARhe did not keepוְגַם־לִשְׁאוֹלve/GAM-lish/OLand also for askingבָּאוֹבba/OVof a mediumלִדְרוֹשׁ׃lid/ROSHto inquire

    So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;

    וְלֹא־דָרַשׁve/LO-da/RASHand did not inquireבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiof the LORDוַיְמִיתֵהוּvay/mi/TE/hutherefore He killed himוַיַּסֵּבvay/yas/SEVand turnedאֶת־הַמְּלוּכָהet-ham/me/lu/KHAthe kingdomלְדָוִידle/Da/VIDto Davidבֶּן־יִשָׁי׃ben-Yi/SHAYthe son of Jesse

    And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
