1. 1

   אַחַיmy-brethrenלֹאnotתוּכְלוּyou-canלֶאֱחֹזhaveבֶּאֱמוּנַתthe-faith-ofאֲדֹנֵינוּour-LordיֵשׁוּעַJesusהַמָּשִׁיחַChristאֲדוֹןthe-Lord-ofהַכָּבוֹדgloryוְגַםand-yetלָשֵׂאתhave-respect-toפָּנִים׃persons

   My brethren, ye cannot have the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, and yet have respect to persons.

   מַה־יּוֹעִילwhat-profit-is-itאַחַיmy-brethrenלְאִישׁfor-a-manכִּיtoיֹאמַרsayיֵשׁ־לוֹhe-hathאֱמוּנָהfaithוּמַעֲשִׂיםand-worksאֵין־לוֹhath-notהֲתוּכַלcanהָאֱמוּנָהfaithלְהוֹשִׁיעוֹ׃save-him

   What profit is it, my brethren, for a man to say he hath faith, and hath not works? can faith save him?

   הֵןyeaיֹאמַרmay-sayאִישׁa-manאַרְאֲךָI-will-show-youיֵשׁ־לִיI-haveאֱמוּנָהfaithבְּלִיwithoutמַעֲשִׂיםworksאַךְbutאֹמֵרsayאֲנִיIהַרְאֵנִיshow-meאֶת־אֱמוּנָתְךָyour-faithבְּלִיwithoutמַעֲשִׂיםworksוַאֲנִיand-Iאַרְאֲךָwill-show-youאֶת־אֱמוּנָתִיmy-faithמִתּוֹךְbyמַעֲשַׂי׃my-works

   Yea, a man may say, I will show thee I have faith without works; but I say, Show me thy faith without works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.

4. 17

   כֵּןeven-soהָאֱמוּנָהfaithאִםifאֵין־לָהּit-have-notמַעֲשִׂיםworksמֵתָהis-deadהִיאitלְבַדָּהּ׃being-alone

   Even so faith, if it have not works is dead, being alone.

5. 18

   לָכֵןthereforeהֲתַחְפֹּץwilt-youלָדַעַתknowאִישׁ־בָּעַרO-vain-manכִּיthatהָאֱמוּנָהfaithבְּאֵיןwithoutמַעֲשִׂיםworksמֵתָהis-deadהִיאitוְלֹאand-notתוּכַלcanלְהוֹשִׁיעֲךָ׃save-you

   Therefore wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead and cannot save you?
