   Behold, I say unto you, my son, that because you did not translate according to that which you desired of me, and did commence again to write for my servant, Joseph Smith, Jun., even so I would that ye should continue until you have finished this record, which I have entrusted unto him.

   וְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterwardהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיֶשׁ־לִיyesh-lihave Iכְתָבִיםkhe/ta/VIMrecordsאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMotherאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאֶתֵּןet/TENI will giveלְךָle/KHAyouכֹּחַKO/achpowerלַעֲזֹרla/a/ZORto assistלְתַרְגֵּם׃le/tar/GEMto translate

   And then, behold, other records have I, that I will give unto you power that you may assist to translate.

   הִתְאַפֵּקhit/ap/PEKbe patientבְּנִיbe/NImy sonכִּיkiforחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomהִיאhiit isבִּיbiin meוְלֹאve/LOand notנָכוֹןna/KHONproperלְךָle/KHAto youלְתַרְגֵּםle/tar/GEMto translateבָּעֵתba/ETin the timeהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

   Be patient, my son, for it is wisdom in me, and it is not expedient that you should translate at this present time.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַמְּלָאכָהham/me/la/KHAthe workאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִקְרֵאתָnik/re/TAyou have been calledלָהּlato itהִיאhiit isלִכְתֹּבlikh/TOVto writeלְעַבְדִּיle/av/DIfor my servantיוֹסֵף׃Yo/SEFJoseph

   Behold, the work which you are called to do is to write for my servant Joseph.

   וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdיַעַןYA/anbecauseלֹאlonotהוֹסַפְתָּho/SAF/tayou continuedכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהַחִלּוֹתָha/chil/LO/tayou commencedלְתַרְגֵּםle/tar/GEMto translateלָקַחְתִּיla/KACH/tiI tookמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youאֶת־הַזְּכוּתet-haz/ze/KHUTthe privilegeהַזֹּאת׃haz/ZOTthis

   And, behold, it is because that you did not continue as you commenced, when you began to translate, that I have taken away this privilege from you.

   אַלaldo notתַּלֵּןtal/LENmurmurבְּנִיbe/NImy sonכִּיkiforחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomהִיאhiit isבִּיbiin meאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatעָשִׂיתִיa/SI/tiI dealtעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youכַּדָּבָרkad/da/VARin the mannerהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   Do not murmur, my son, for it is wisdom in me that I have dealt with you after this manner.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdלֹאlonotהֵבַנְתָּhe/van/TAyou understoodכִּיkiforחָשַׁבְתָּcha/SHAV/tayou supposedכִּיkithatאֶתְּנֶנּוּet/te/NEN/nuI would give itלְךָle/KHAunto youוְאַתָּהve/at/TAand youלֹאlonotחָשַׁבְתָּcha/SHAV/tayou took thoughtכִּי־אִםki-imsaveלִשְׁאֹלlish/OLto askמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/men/NIof me

   Behold, you have not understood; you have supposed that I would give it unto you, when you took no thought save it was to ask me.

   אַךְakhbutהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלְךָle/KHAto youחֲשֹׁבcha/SHOVstudyאוֹתוֹo/TOitבְּדַעְתְּךָbe/da/te/KHAin your mindוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand thenשְׁאַלshe/ALaskמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/niof meאִם־נָכוֹןim-na/KHONif it be rightהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingוְאִםve/IMand ifנָכוֹןna/KHONrightהוּאhuit isאַבְעִירav/IRI will cause to burnאֶת־חֵיקְךָet-che/ke/KHAyour bosomבְּקִרְבֶּךָbe/kir/BE/khawithin youעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeתֵּדַעte/DAyou shall feelכִּיkithatנָכוֹןna/KHONrightהוּא׃huit is

   But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.

   וְאִםve/IMand ifלֹאlonotנָכוֹןna/KHONrightלֹאlonotיִבְעַרyiv/ARshall burnחֵיקְךָche/ke/KHAyour bosomכָּזֹאתka/ZOTin this mannerכִּי־אִםki-imbutתַּרְדֵּמַתtar/de/MATstuporמַחֲשָׁבָהma/cha/sha/VAof thoughtתָּבֹאta/VOshall comeעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youוְתַשְׁכִּיחֲךָve/tash/ki/cha/KHAand shall cause you to forgetאֶת־אֲשֶׁרet-a/SHERthe thing whichלֹאlonotנָכוֹןna/KHONrightעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹאlonotתוּכַלtu/KHALyou canלִכְתֹּבlikh/TOVto writeקֹדֶשׁKO/desha sacred thingבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptאִם־יִנָּתֵןim-yin/na/TENif it is givenלְךָle/KHAyouמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/men/NIfrom me

   But if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong; therefore, you cannot write that which is sacred save it be given you from me.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowלוּluifיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tayou knewזֹאתzotthisיָכֹלְתָּya/khol/TAyou would have been ableלְתַרְגֵּםle/tar/GEMto translateאַךְakhbutלֹאlonotנָכוֹןna/KHONproperלְךָle/KHAto youלְתַרְגֵּםle/tar/GEMto translateעַתָּה׃at/TAnow

    Now, if you had known this you could have translated; nevertheless, it is not expedient that you should translate now.

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdנָכוֹןna/KHONproperהָיָהha/YAwasבְּהַחִלְּךָbe/ha/chil/le/KHAwhen you commencedאַךְakhbutיָרֵאתָya/RE/tayou fearedוְעָבְרָהve/a/ve/RAand passedהָעֵתha/ETthe timeוְלֹאve/LOand notנָכוֹןna/KHONproperעַתָּה׃at/TAnow

    Behold, it was expedient when you commenced; but you feared, and the time is past, and it is not expedient now;

12. 12

    כִּיkiforהֲלֹאha/LOdo notתִרְאֶהtir/Eyou seeכִּיkithatנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI gaveלְעַבְדִּיle/av/DIto my servantיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephדֵּיdesufficientכֹחַKHO/achstrengthוּבוֹu/VOand by itהֻשְׁלַםhush/LAMit is made upוְגַםve/GAMand alsoאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouשְׁנֵיכֶםshe/ne/KHEMboth of youלֹאlonotהִרְשַׁעְתִּי׃hir/sha/TIhave I condemned

    For, do you not behold that I have given unto my servant Joseph sufficient strength, whereby it is made up? And neither of you have I condemned.

13. 13

    עֲשֵׂהa/SEdoאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichצִוִּיתִיךָtsiv/vi/TI/khaI commanded youוְתַצְלִיחַve/tats/LI/achand you shall prosperהֱיֵהhe/YEbeנֶאֱמָןne/e/MANfaithfulוְאַלve/ALand do notתִּכָּנַעtik/ka/NAyieldלְמַסָּה׃le/mas/SAto temptation

    Do this thing which I have commanded you, and you shall prosper. Be faithful, and yield to no temptation.

14. 14

    עֲמֹדa/MODstandחָזָקcha/ZAKstrongבַּמְּלָאכָהbam/me/la/KHAin the workאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichקְרָאתִיךָke/ra/TI/khaI called youלָהּlato itוְשַׂעֲרָהve/sa/a/RAand a hairמֵרֹאשְׁךָme/ro/she/KHAfrom your headלֹאlonotתֹאבֵדto/VEDshall be lostוְתִנָּשֵׂאve/tin/na/SEand you shall be lifted upבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMin the dayהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe lastאָמֵן׃a/MENamen

    Stand fast in the work wherewith I have called you, and a hair of your head shall not be lost, and you shall be lifted up at the last day. Amen.
