   Given for a principle with promise, adapted to the capacity of the weak and the weakest of all saints, who are or can be called saints.

   Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation—

   כִּיkiforכְּפִיke/FIinasmuchאֲשֶׁרa/SHERasאִישׁishany manשׁוֹתֶהsho/TEdrinksיַיִןYA/yinwineאוֹoorשֵׁכָרshe/KHARstrong drinkבֵּינֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMamong youהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵינוֹe/NOnotטוֹבtovit is goodוְאֵינוֹve/e/NOneitherנָכוֹןna/KHONmeetלְעֵינֵיle/e/NEin the sightאֲבִיכֶםA/vi/KHEMof your Fatherרַקrakonlyבְּהֵאָסֶפְכֶםbe/he/a/sef/KHEMin assembling yourselvesיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherלְהַקְרִיבle/hak/RIVto offer upלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore himאֶת־קׇרְבְּנוֹתֵיכֶם׃et-kor/be/no/te/KHEMyour sacraments

   That inasmuch as any man drinketh wine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good, neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves together to offer up your sacraments before him.

   וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdזֶהzethisיִהְיֶהyih/YEshould beיַיִןYA/yinwineאָכֵןa/KHENyeaיַיִןYA/yinwineטָהוֹרta/HORpureמֵעֲנָבֵיme/a/na/VEof the grapeהַגֶּפֶןhag/GE/fenof the vineמִמַּעֲשֵׂהmim/ma/a/SEof the makeיְדֵיכֶם׃ye/de/KHEMof your own hands

   And, behold, this should be wine, yea, pure wine of the grape of the vine, of your own make.

   וְעוֹדve/ODand againשֵׁכָרshe/KHARstrong drinksאֵינוֹe/NOare notלַבֶּטֶןlab/BE/tenfor the bellyכִּי־אִםki-imbutלִרְחִיצַתlir/chi/TSATfor the washingגּוּפְכֶם׃guf/KHEMof your bodies

   And, again, strong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.

   וְעוֹדve/ODand againהַטַּבָּקhat/tab/BAKtobaccoאֵינוֹe/NOnotלַגּוּףlag/GUFis for the bodyוְלֹאve/LOneitherלַבֶּטֶןlab/BE/tenfor the bellyוְאֵינוֹve/e/NOand is notטוֹבtovgoodלָאָדָםla/a/DAMfor manכִּי־אִםki-imbutהוּאhuisעֵשֶׂבE/sevan herbלַחֲבוּרוֹתla/cha/vu/ROTfor bruisesוּלְכׇלu/le/KHOLand allבְּהֵמוֹתbe/he/MOTcattleחוֹלוֹתcho/LOTsickלְהוֹעִילle/ho/ILto benefitבּוֹbotherewithבְּמִשְׁפָּטbe/mish/PATwith judgmentוּבְהַשְׂכֵּל׃u/ve/has/KELand skill

   And again, tobacco is not for the body, neither for the belly, and is not good for man, but is an herb for bruises and all sick cattle, to be used with judgment and skill.

   וְעוֹדve/ODand againמַשְׁקֶהmash/KEdrinksחַםchamhotאֵינוֹe/NOare notלַגּוּףlag/GUFfor the bodyאוֹoorלַבֶּטֶן׃lab/be/TENbelly

   And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.

    וְעוֹדve/ODand againאָמֵןa/MENverilyאֲנִיa/NIIאֹמֵרo/MERsayלָכֶםla/KHEMunto youכׇּלkolallעֵשֶׂבE/sevherbsבָּרִיאba/RIwholesomeיָעַדya/ADordainedאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְמַתְכֹּנֶתle/mat/KO/netfor the constitutionבְּרִיאַתbe/ri/ATnatureהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof manוּלְאׇכְלָה׃u/le/okh/LAand use

    And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man—

    כׇּלkoleveryעֵשֶׂבE/sevherbבְּמוֹעֲדוֹbe/mo/a/DOin the season thereofוְכׇלve/KHOLand everyפְּרִיpe/RIfruitבְּמוֹעֲדוֹbe/mo/a/DOin the season thereofכׇּלkolallאֵלֶּהEL/letheseלְהוֹעִילle/ho/ILto benefitבָּהֶםba/HEMtherewithבְּהַשְׂכֵּלbe/has/KELwith prudenceוּבְתוֹדָה׃u/ve/to/DAand thanksgiving

    Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving.

    אָכֵןa/KHENyeaגַּםgamalsoבְּשַׂרbe/SARfleshבְּהֵמוֹתbe/he/MOTof beastsוְעוֹףve/OFand of the fowlsהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof the airאֲנִיa/NIIיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordיִעַדְתִּיyi/ad/TIordainedלְאׇכְלָהle/okh/LAfor the useלָאָדָםla/a/DAMof manבְּתוֹדָהbe/to/DAwith thanksgivingאַךְakhneverthelessיֵאָכְלוּye/a/khe/LUthey are to be usedבִּמְעָט׃bim/ATsparingly

    Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly;

    וְרָצוּיve/ra/TSUYand it is pleasingלִיliunto meאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatלֹאlonotיֵאָכְלוּye/a/khe/LUthey should be usedכִּי־אִםki-imonlyבִּימֵיbi/MEin timesהַחֹרֶףha/CHO/refof winterאוֹoorבְּקֹרbe/KORof coldאוֹoorבְּרָעָב׃be/ra/AVfamine

    And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine.

    כׇּלkolallדָּגָןda/GANgrainיוּעַדyu/ADis ordainedלְאׇכְלָהle/okh/LAfor the useלָאָדָםla/a/DAMof manוְהַבְּהֵמָהve/hab/be/he/MAand of beastsלִהְיוֹתlih/YOTto beמַטֵּהmat/TEthe staffלֶחֶםLE/chemof lifeלֹאlonotרַקrakonlyלָאָדָםla/a/DAMfor manכִּי־אִםki-imbutגַּםgamalsoלְחַיַּתle/chay/YATfor the beastsהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEof the fieldוּלְעוֹףu/le/OFand the fowlsהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimof heavenוּלְכׇלu/le/KHOLand allחַיַּתchay/YATanimalsהָאָרֶץha/A/retsof the earthהָרָצָהha/ra/TSAthat runאוֹoorהָרֹמֶשֶׂתha/ro/ME/setcreepעַלalonהָאָרֶץ׃ha/a/RETSthe earth

    All grain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand theseעָשָׂהa/SAmadeאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodלְאׇכְלָהle/okh/LAfor the useלָאָדָםla/a/DAMof manרַקrakonlyבְּעֵתbe/ETin timesרָעָבra/AVof famineוְרֹבve/ROVand excessרְעָבוֹן׃re/a/VONof hunger

    And these hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.

16. 16

    כׇּלkolallדָּגָןda/GANgrainטוֹבtovis goodלְמַאֲכַלle/ma/a/KHALfor the foodהָאָדָםha/a/DAMof manוְגַםve/GAMas alsoפְּרִיpe/RIthe fruitהַגֶּפֶןhag/GE/fenof the vineאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat whichמַעֲלֶהma/a/LEyieldsפְּרִיpe/RIfruitאִםimwhetherבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the groundאוֹoorמֵעַלme/ALaboveהָאָרֶץ׃ha/a/RETSthe ground

    All grain is good for the food of man; as also the fruit of the vine; that which yieldeth fruit, whether in the ground or above the ground—

    אַךְakhneverthelessהַחִטָּהha/chit/TAwheatלָאָדָםla/a/DAMfor manוְהַתִּירָסve/hat/ti/RASand cornלַשּׁוֹרlash/SHORfor the oxוְשִׁבֹּלֶת־שׁוּעָלve/shib/BO/let-shu/ALand oatsלַסּוּסlas/SUSfor the horseוְהַשִּׁפּוֹןve/hash/ship/PONand ryeלָעוֹףla/OFfor the fowlsוְלַחֲזִירִיםve/la/cha/zi/RIMand for swineוּלְכׇלu/le/KHOLand for allחַיַּתchay/YATbeastsהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEof the fieldוְהַשְּׂעוֹרָהve/has/se/o/RAand barleyלְכׇלle/KHOLfor allהַבְּהֵמוֹתhab/be/he/MOTanimalsהַמּוֹעִילוֹתham/mo/i/LOTusefulוּלְמַשְׁקֶהu/le/mash/KEand for drinksקַלkalmildוְגַםve/GAMas alsoדָּגָןda/GANgrainאַחֵר׃a/CHERother

    Nevertheless, wheat for man, and corn for the ox, and oats for the horse, and rye for the fowls and for swine, and for all beasts of the field, and barley for all useful animals, and for mild drinks, as also other grain.

    וְכׇלve/KHOLand allהַקְּדוֹשִׁיםhak/ke/do/SHIMsaintsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoיִזְכְּרוּyiz/ke/RUrememberלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand to doאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe sayingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהֹלְכִיםhol/KHIMwalkingוְשֹׁמְעִיםve/shom/IMand hearkeningלַמִּצְוֹתlam/mits/VOTto the commandmentsיְקַבְּלוּye/kab/be/LUshall receiveרִפְאוּתrif/UThealthלְשָׁרָּםle/shar/RAMto their navelוְשִׁקּוּיve/shik/KUYand marrowלְעַצְמוֹתֵיהֶם׃le/ats/mo/te/HEMto their bones

    And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;

19. 19

    וְיִמְצְאוּve/yim/tse/Uand shall findחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְאוֹצְרוֹתve/ots/ROTand treasuresדַּעַתDA/atof knowledgeגְּדוֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatגַּםgamevenמַטְמֻנֵיmat/mu/NEtreasuresמִסְתָּרִים׃mis/ta/RIMhidden

    And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;

20. 20

    וְיָרוּצוּve/ya/RU/tsuand shall runוְלֹאve/LOand notיִיגָעוּyi/GA/ube wearyוְיֵלְכוּve/yel/KHUand shall walkוְלֹאve/LOand notיִיעָפוּ׃yi/a/FUfaint

    And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.

21. 21

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIand IיְהוָהAdonaithe Lordנוֹתֵןno/TENgiveלָהֶםla/HEMthemהַבְטָחָהhav/ta/CHAa promiseכִּיkithatהַמַּשְׁחִיתham/mash/CHITthe destroying angelיִפְסַחyif/SACHshall pass byעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMthemכִּבְנֵיkiv/NEas the childrenיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELof Israelוְלֹאve/LOand notיַכֵּםyak/KEMslay themאָמֵן׃a/MENAmen

    And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.
