Lamentations 5 אֵיכָה פרק ה׳

   Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.

2. 2

   נַחֲלָתֵנוּna/cha/la/TE/nuour inheritanceנֶהֶפְכָהne/hef/KHAis turnedלְזָרִיםle/za/RIMto strangersבָּתֵּינוּbat/TE/nuour housesלְנׇכְרִים׃le/nokh/RIMto foreigners

   Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.

3. 3

   יְתוֹמִיםye/to/MIMorphansהָיִינוּha/YI/nuwe have become(אין)yan[וְאֵין]ve/ENand withoutאָבava fatherאִמֹּתֵינוּim/mo/TE/nuour mothersכְּאַלְמָנוֹת׃ke/al/ma/NOTare as widows

   We are orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.

   מֵימֵינוּme/ME/nuour waterבְּכֶסֶףbe/KHE/seffor moneyשָׁתִינוּsha/TI/nuwe have drunkעֵצֵינוּe/TSE/nuour woodבִּמְחִירbim/CHIRfor a priceיָבֹאוּ׃ya/VO/ucomes to us

   We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.

5. 5

   עַלaluponצַוָּארֵנוּtsav/va/RE/nuour neckנִרְדָּפְנוּnir/DAF/nuwe are pursuedיָגַעְנוּya/GA/nuwe labor(לא)l[וְלֹא]ve/LOand notהוּנַח־לָנוּ׃hu/NACH-LA/nuis rest given us

   Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.

   מִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptנָתַנּוּna/TAN/nuwe have givenיָדyadthe handאַשּׁוּרAsh/SHURAssyriaלִשְׂבֹּעַlis/BO/ato be satisfied withלָחֶם׃LA/chembread

   We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

   אֲבֹתֵינוּa/vo/TE/nuour fathersחָטְאוּcha/te/Uhave sinned(אינם)yanam[וְאֵינָם]ve/e/NAMand are not(אנחנו)nachanav[וַאֲנַחְנוּ]va/a/NACH/nuand weעֲוֺנֹתֵיהֶםa/vo/no/te/HEMtheir iniquitiesסָבָלְנוּ׃sa/VAL/nuwe have borne

   Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.

   עֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMservantsמָשְׁלוּMASH/luhave ruledבָנוּVA/nuover usפֹּרֵקpo/REKone who deliversאֵיןenthere is noמִיָּדָם׃miy/ya/DAMout of their hands

   Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.

   בְּנַפְשֵׁנוּbe/naf/SHE/nuwith our lifeנָבִיאna/VIwe bring inלַחְמֵנוּlach/ME/nuour breadמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofחֶרֶבCHE/revthe sword ofהַמִּדְבָּר׃ham/mid/BARthe wilderness

   We gat our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.

    עוֹרֵנוּo/RE/nuour skinכְּתַנּוּרke/tan/NURlike an ovenנִכְמָרוּnikh/MA/ruthey have grown hotמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofזַלְעֲפוֹתzal/a/FOTthe burning heat ofרָעָב׃ra/AVhunger

    Our skin was black like an oven because of the terrible famine.

11. 11

    נָשִׁיםna/SHIMwomenבְּצִיּוֹןbe/Tsiy/YONin Zionעִנּוּin/NUthey ravishedבְּתֻלֹתbe/tu/LOTthe maidsבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

    They ravished the women in Zion, and the maids in the cities of Judah.

12. 12

    שָׂרִיםsa/RIMprincesבְּיָדָםbe/ya/DAMby their handנִתְלוּnit/LUare hangedפְּנֵיpe/NEthe faces ofזְקֵנִיםze/ke/NIMthe eldersלֹאlonotנֶהְדָּרוּ׃neh/DA/ruwere honored

    Princes are hanged up by their hand: the faces of elders were not honoured.

13. 13

    בַּחוּרִיםba/chu/RIMthe young menטְחוֹןte/CHONthe millנָשָׂאוּna/SA/uboreוּנְעָרִיםu/ne/a/RIMand the youthsבָּעֵץba/ETSunder the woodכָּשָׁלוּ׃ka/SHA/lustumbled

    They took the young men to grind, and the children fell under the wood.

14. 14

    זְקֵנִיםze/ke/NIMthe eldersמִשַּׁעַרmish/SHA/arfrom the gateשָׁבָתוּsha/VA/tuhave ceasedבַּחוּרִיםba/chu/RIMthe young menמִנְּגִינָתָם׃min/ne/gi/na/TAMfrom their music

    The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.

15. 15

    שָׁבַתsha/VATis ceasedמְשׂוֹשׂme/SOSthe joy ofלִבֵּנוּlib/BE/nuour heartנֶהְפַּךְneh/PAKHis turnedלְאֵבֶלle/E/velinto mourningמְחֹלֵנוּ׃me/cho/LE/nuour dancing

    The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.

16. 16

    נָפְלָהna/fe/LAis fallenעֲטֶרֶתa/TE/retthe crown ofרֹאשֵׁנוּro/SHE/nuour headאוֹי־נָאoy-nawoe nowלָנוּLA/nuto usכִּיkiforחָטָאנוּ׃cha/TA/nuwe have sinned

    The crown is fallen from our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!

17. 17

    עַל־זֶהal-zefor thisהָיָהha/YAisדָוֶהda/VEfaintלִבֵּנוּlib/BE/nuour heartעַל־אֵלֶּהal-EL/lefor theseחָשְׁכוּcha/she/KHUthey have grown dimעֵינֵינוּ׃e/NE/nuour eyes

    For this our heart is faint; for these things our eyes are dim.

18. 18

    עַלalbecause ofהַר־צִיּוֹןhaR-tsiy/YONmount Zionשֶׁשָּׁמֵםshesh/sha/MEMthat is desolateשׁוּעָלִיםshu/a/LIMfoxesהִלְּכוּ־בוֹ׃hil/le/KHU-vothey walk upon it

    Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

19. 19

    אַתָּהat/TAYouיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverתֵּשֵׁבte/SHEVremainכִּסְאֲךָkis/a/KHAYour throneלְדוֹרle/DORto generationוָדוֹר׃va/DORand generation

    Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.

20. 20

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverתִּשְׁכָּחֵנוּtish/ka/CHE/nudo You forget usתַּעַזְבֵנוּta/az/VE/nuand forsake usלְאֹרֶךְle/O/rekhfor length ofיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

    Wherefore dost thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?

21. 21

    הֲשִׁיבֵנוּha/shi/VE/nuturn usיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato You(ונשוב)vanashavav[וְנָשׁוּבָה]ve/na/SHU/vaand we shall be turnedחַדֵּשׁchad/DESHrenewיָמֵינוּya/ME/nuour daysכְּקֶדֶם׃ke/KE/demas of old

    Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

22. 22

    כִּיkibutאִם־מָאֹסim-ma/OSrather rejectמְאַסְתָּנוּme/as/TA/nuYou have rejected usקָצַפְתָּka/TSAF/taYou are wrothעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuagainst usעַד־מְאֹד׃ad-me/ODexceedingly

    But thou hast utterly rejected us; thou art very wroth against us.
