Lamentations 3 אֵיכָה פרק ג׳

   I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.

2. 2

   אוֹתִיo/TImeנָהַגna/HAGHe has ledוַיֹּלַךְvay/yo/LAKHand made walk inחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhdarknessוְלֹא־אוֹר׃ve/LO-orand not light

   He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.

   אַךְakhsurelyבִּיbiagainst meיָשֻׁבya/SHUVagainיַהֲפֹךְya/ha/FOKHHe turnsיָדוֹya/DOHis handכׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃kol-hay/YOMall the day

   Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.

   בִּלָּהbil/LAHe has made oldבְשָׂרִיve/sa/RImy fleshוְעוֹרִיve/o/RIand my skinשִׁבַּרshib/BARHe has brokenעַצְמוֹתָי׃ats/mo/TAYmy bones

   My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.

   בָּנָהba/NAHe has builtעָלַיa/LAYagainst meוַיַּקַּףvay/yak/KAFand compassedרֹאשׁroshgallוּתְלָאָה׃u/te/la/Aand travail

   He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.

6. 6

   בְּמַחֲשַׁכִּיםbe/ma/cha/shak/KIMin the dark placesהוֹשִׁיבַנִיho/shi/VA/niHe has set meכְּמֵתֵיke/me/TEas those dead ofעוֹלָם׃o/LAMold

   He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.

   גָּדַרga/DARHe has hedgedבַּעֲדִיba/a/DIabout meוְלֹאve/LOand notאֵצֵאe/TSEI can get outהִכְבִּידhikh/BIDHe has made heavyנְחׇשְׁתִּי׃ne/chosh/TImy chain

   He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

   גַּםgamalsoכִּיkiwhenאֶזְעַקez/AKI cryוַאֲשַׁוֵּעַva/a/shav/VE/aand shoutשָׂתַםsa/TAMHe shuts outתְּפִלָּתִי׃te/fil/la/TImy prayer

   Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.

   גָּדַרga/DARHe has hedgedדְּרָכַיde/ra/KHAYmy waysבְּגָזִיתbe/ga/ZITwith hewn stoneנְתִיבֹתַיne/ti/vo/TAYmy pathsעִוָּה׃iv/VAHe has made crooked

   He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

    דֹּבdova bearאֹרֵבo/REVlying in waitהוּאhuHe isלִיlito me(אריה)rayah[אֲרִי]a/RIa lionבְּמִסְתָּרִים׃be/mis/ta/RIMin hiding places

    He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.

    דְּרָכַיde/ra/KHAYmy waysסוֹרֵרso/RERHe has turned asideוַיְפַשְּׁחֵנִיvay/fash/she/CHE/niand torn me in piecesשָׂמַנִיsa/MA/niHe has made meשֹׁמֵם׃sho/MEMdesolate

    He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.

12. 12

    דָּרַךְda/RAKHHe has bentקַשְׁתּוֹkash/TOHis bowוַיַּצִּיבֵנִיvay/yats/tsi/VE/niand set meכַּמַּטָּרָאkam/mat/ta/RAas a markלַחֵץ׃la/CHETSfor the arrow

    He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.

    הֵבִיאhe/VIHe has caused to enterבְּכִלְיֹתָיbe/khil/yo/TAYinto my reinsבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofאַשְׁפָּתוֹ׃ash/pa/TOHis quiver

    He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

14. 14

    הָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI have becomeשְּׂחֹקse/CHOKa derisionלְכׇל־עַמִּיle/KHOL-am/MIto all my peopleנְגִינָתָםne/gi/na/TAMtheir songכׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃kol-hay/YOMall the day

    I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

15. 15

    הִשְׂבִּיעַנִיhis/bi/A/niHe has filled meבַמְּרוֹרִיםvam/me/ro/RIMwith bitternessהִרְוַנִיhir/VA/niHe has made me drunk withלַעֲנָה׃la/a/NAwormwood

    He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.

16. 16

    וַיַּגְרֵסvay/yag/RESand He has brokenבֶּחָצָץbe/cha/TSATSwith gravelשִׁנָּיshin/NAYmy teethהִכְפִּישַׁנִיhikh/pi/SHA/niHe has covered meבָּאֵפֶר׃ba/E/ferin ashes

    He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.

17. 17

    וַתִּזְנַחvat/tiz/NACHand You have removed farמִשָּׁלוֹםmish/sha/LOMfrom peaceנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulנָשִׁיתִיna/SHI/tiI forgotטוֹבָה׃to/VAprosperity

    And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.

18. 18

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidאָבַדa/VADis perishedנִצְחִיnits/CHImy strengthוְתוֹחַלְתִּיve/to/chal/TIand my hopeמֵיְהֹוָה׃me-Adonaifrom the LORD

    And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

19. 19

    זְכׇר־עׇנְיִיze/KHOR-on/YIremember my afflictionוּמְרוּדִיu/me/ru/DIand my miseryלַעֲנָהla/a/NAwormwoodוָרֹאשׁ׃va/ROSHand the gall

    Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.

20. 20

    זָכוֹרza/KHORrememberתִּזְכּוֹרtiz/KORremembers[וְתָשׁוֹחַ]ve/ta/SHO/achand is bowed downעָלַיa/LAYwithin meנַפְשִׁי׃naf/SHImy soul

    My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

21. 21

    זֹאתzotthisאָשִׁיבa/SHIVI recallאֶל־לִבִּיel-lib/BIto my heartעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאוֹחִיל׃o/CHILI hope

    This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

22. 22

    חַסְדֵיchas/DEthe mercies ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkithatלֹא־תָמְנוּlo-TAM/nuwe are not consumedכִּיkiforלֹא־כָלוּlo-kha/LUfail notרַחֲמָיו׃ra/cha/MAYVHis compassions

    It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23. 23

    חֲדָשִׁיםcha/da/SHIMthey are newלַבְּקָרִיםlab/be/ka/RIMevery morningרַבָּהrab/BAgreat isאֱמוּנָתֶךָ׃e/mu/na/TE/khaYour faithfulness

    They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24. 24

    חֶלְקִיchel/KImy portionיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאָמְרָהa/me/RAsaysנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeאוֹחִילo/CHILI hopeלוֹ׃loin Him

    The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.

25. 25

    טוֹבtovgood isיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְקֹוָוle/ko/VAVto those who wait for Himלְנֶפֶשׁle/NE/feshto the soulתִּדְרְשֶׁנּוּ׃tid/re/SHEN/nuthat seeks Him

    The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

26. 26

    טוֹבtovit is goodוְיָחִילve/ya/CHILand hopeוְדוּמָםve/du/MAMand quietlyלִתְשׁוּעַתlit/shu/ATfor the salvation ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

27. 27

    טוֹבtovit is goodלַגֶּבֶרlag/GE/verfor the manכִּי־יִשָּׂאki-yis/SAthat he bearעֹלolthe yokeבִּנְעוּרָיו׃bin/u/RAYVin his youth

    It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.

28. 28

    יֵשֵׁבye/SHEVlet him sitבָּדָדba/DADaloneוְיִדֹּםve/yid/DOMand keep silenceכִּיkiwhenנָטַלna/TALHe has laidעָלָיו׃a/LAYVupon him

    He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

29. 29

    יִתֵּןyit/TENlet him putבֶּעָפָרbe/a/FARin the dustפִּיהוּPI/huhis mouthאוּלַיu/LAYif so beיֵשׁyeshthere may beתִּקְוָה׃tik/VAhope

    He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

30. 30

    יִתֵּןyit/TENlet him giveלְמַכֵּהוּle/mak/KE/huto him that smites himלֶחִיLE/chithe cheekיִשְׂבַּעyis/BAlet him be filledבְּחֶרְפָּה׃be/cher/PAwith reproach

    He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.

31. 31

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotיִזְנַחyiz/NACHwill cast offלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverאֲדֹנָי׃a/do/NAYthe Lord

    For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

32. 32

    כִּיkiforאִם־הוֹגָהim-ho/GAthough He cause griefוְרִחַםve/ri/CHAMyet will He have compassionכְּרֹבke/ROVaccording to the multitude ofחֲסָדָיו׃cha/sa/DAYVHis lovingkindnesses

    But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.

33. 33

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotעִנָּהin/NAHe afflictsמִלִּבּוֹmil/lib/BOfrom His heartוַיַּגֶּהvay/yag/GEnor grievesבְּנֵי־אִישׁ׃be/NE-ishthe children of men

    For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

34. 34

    לְדַכֵּאle/dak/KEto crushתַּחַתTA/chatunderרַגְלָיוrag/LAYVHis feetכֹּלkolallאֲסִירֵיa/si/REthe prisoners ofאָרֶץ׃A/retsthe earth

    To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,

35. 35

    לְהַטּוֹתle/hat/TOTto turn asideמִשְׁפַּט־גָּבֶרmish/PAT-GA/verthe right of a manנֶגֶדNE/gedbeforeפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofעֶלְיוֹן׃El/YONthe Most High

    To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,

36. 36

    לְעַוֵּתle/av/VETto subvertאָדָםa/DAMmanבְּרִיבוֹbe/ri/VOin his causeאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordלֹאlonotרָאָה׃ra/Asees

    To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not.

37. 37

    מִיmiwhoזֶהzeis thisאָמַרa/MARthat saysוַתֶּהִיvat/TE/hiand it comes to passאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordלֹאlonotצִוָּה׃tsiv/VAhas commanded

    Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not?

38. 38

    מִפִּיmip/PIfrom the mouth ofעֶלְיוֹןEl/YONthe Most Highלֹאlonotתֵצֵאte/TSEproceedהָרָעוֹתha/ra/OTthe evilsוְהַטּוֹב׃ve/hat/TOVand the good

    Out of the mouth of the most High proceedeth not evil and good?

39. 39

    מַה־יִּתְאוֹנֵןma-yit/o/NENwhy does complainאָדָםa/DAMmanחָיchaylivingגֶּבֶרGE/vera manעַל־חֲטָאָו׃al-cha/ta/AVfor his sins

    Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?

40. 40

    נַחְפְּשָׂהnach/pe/SAlet us searchדְרָכֵינוּde/ra/KHE/nuour waysוְנַחְקֹרָהve/nach/KO/raand tryוְנָשׁוּבָהve/na/SHU/vaand turn againעַד־יְהֹוָה׃ad-Adonaito the LORD

    Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.

41. 41

    נִשָּׂאnis/SAlet us lift upלְבָבֵנוּle/va/VE/nuour heartאֶל־כַּפָּיִםel-kap/PA/yimwith the palmsאֶל־אֵלel-elunto Godבַּשָּׁמָיִם׃bash/sha/MA/yimin the heavens

    Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

42. 42

    נַחְנוּNACH/nuweפָשַׁעְנוּfa/SHA/nuwe have transgressedוּמָרִינוּu/ma/RI/nuand we have rebelledאַתָּהat/TAYouלֹאlonotסָלָחְתָּ׃sa/LACH/taYou have pardoned

    We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.

43. 43

    סַכּוֹתָהsak/KO/taYou have coveredבָאַףva/AFwith angerוַתִּרְדְּפֵנוּvat/tir/de/FE/nuand pursued usהָרַגְתָּha/RAG/taYou have slainלֹאlonotחָמָלְתָּ׃cha/MAL/taYou have pitied

    Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

44. 44

    סַכּוֹתָהsak/KO/taYou have coveredבֶעָנָןve/a/NANwith a cloudלָךְlakhYourselfמֵעֲבוֹרme/a/VORfrom passing throughתְּפִלָּה׃te/fil/LAprayer

    Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our prayer should not pass through.

45. 45

    סְחִיse/CHIthe offscouringוּמָאוֹסu/ma/OSand refuseתְּשִׂימֵנוּte/si/ME/nuYou have made usבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revin the midst ofהָעַמִּים׃ha/am/MIMthe peoples

    Thou hast made us as the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the people.

46. 46

    פָּצוּpa/TSUhave openedעָלֵינוּa/LE/nuagainst usפִּיהֶםpi/HEMtheir mouthכׇּל־אֹיְבֵינוּ׃kol-oy/VE/nuall our enemies

    All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.

47. 47

    פַּחַדPA/chaddreadוָפַחַתva/FA/chatand a pitהָיָהha/YAhas comeלָנוּLA/nuupon usהַשֵּׁאתhash/SHETdesolationוְהַשָּׁבֶר׃ve/hash/SHA/verand destruction

    Fear and a snare is come upon us, desolation and destruction.

48. 48

    פַּלְגֵי־מַיִםpal/GE-MA/yimrivers of waterתֵּרַדte/RADruns downעֵינִיe/NImy eyeעַל־שֶׁבֶרal-SHE/verfor the destruction ofבַּת־עַמִּי׃bat-am/MIthe daughter of my people

    Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.

49. 49

    עֵינִיe/NImy eyeנִגְּרָהnig/ge/RAtrickles downוְלֹאve/LOand notתִדְמֶהtid/MEceasesמֵאֵיןme/ENwithoutהֲפֻגוֹת׃ha/fu/GOTintermission

    Mine eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,

50. 50

    עַד־יַשְׁקִיףad-yash/KIFtill looks downוְיֵרֶאve/YE/reand beholdsיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִשָּׁמָיִם׃mish/sha/MA/yimfrom heaven

    Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.

51. 51

    עֵינִיe/NImy eyeעוֹלְלָהol/LAaffectsלְנַפְשִׁיle/naf/SHImy soulמִכֹּלmik/KOLbecause of allבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe daughters ofעִירִי׃i/RImy city

    Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.

52. 52

    צוֹדtsodhuntצָדוּנִיtsa/DU/nithey hunted meכַּצִּפּוֹרkats/tsip/PORlike a birdאֹיְבַיoy/VAYmy enemiesחִנָּם׃chin/NAMwithout cause

    Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

53. 53

    צָמְתוּtsa/me/TUthey have cut offבַבּוֹרvab/BORin the dungeonחַיָּיchay/YAYmy lifeוַיַּדּוּ־אֶבֶןvay/yad/DU-E/venand cast a stoneבִּי׃biupon me

    They have cut off my life in the dungeon, and cast a stone upon me.

54. 54

    צָפוּ־מַיִםtsa/FU-MA/yimwaters flowedעַל־רֹאשִׁיal-ro/SHIupon my headאָמַרְתִּיa/MAR/tiI saidנִגְזָרְתִּי׃nig/ZAR/tiI am cut off

    Waters flowed over mine head; then I said, I am cut off.

55. 55

    קָרָאתִיka/RA/tiI called uponשִׁמְךָshim/KHAYour nameיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDמִבּוֹרmib/BORout of the pit ofתַּחְתִּיּוֹת׃tach/tiy/YOTthe lowest

    I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon.

56. 56

    קוֹלִיko/LImy voiceשָׁמָעְתָּsha/MA/taYou have heardאַל־תַּעְלֵםal-ta/LEMdo not hideאׇזְנְךָoz/ne/KHAYour earלְרַוְחָתִיle/rav/cha/TIat my breathingלְשַׁוְעָתִי׃le/shav/a/TIat my cry

    Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry.

57. 57

    קָרַבְתָּka/RAV/taYou drew nearבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofאֶקְרָאֶךָּek/ra/EK/kathat I called upon Youאָמַרְתָּa/MAR/taYou saidאַל־תִּירָא׃al-ti/RAfear not

    Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not.

58. 58

    רַבְתָּRAV/taYou have pleadedאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO Lordרִיבֵיri/VEthe causes ofנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulגָּאַלְתָּga/AL/taYou have redeemedחַיָּי׃chay/YAYmy life

    O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.

59. 59

    רָאִיתָהra/I/taYou have seenיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDעַוָּתָתִיav/va/ta/TImy wrongשׇׁפְטָהshof/TAjudgeמִשְׁפָּטִי׃mish/pa/TImy judgment

    O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

60. 60

    רָאִיתָהra/I/taYou have seenכׇּל־נִקְמָתָםkol-nik/ma/TAMall their vengeanceכׇּל־מַחְשְׁבֹתָםkol-mach/she/vo/TAMall their devicesלִי׃liagainst me

    Thou hast seen all their vengeance and all their imaginations against me.

61. 61

    שָׁמַעְתָּsha/MA/taYou have heardחֶרְפָּתָםcher/pa/TAMtheir reproachיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDכׇּל־מַחְשְׁבֹתָםkol-mach/she/vo/TAMall their devicesעָלָי׃a/LAYagainst me

    Thou hast heard their reproach, O LORD, and all their imaginations against me;

62. 62

    שִׂפְתֵיsif/TEthe lips ofקָמַיka/MAYthose who rise against meוְהֶגְיוֹנָםve/heg/yo/NAMand their mutteringעָלַיa/LAYagainst meכׇּל־הַיּוֹם׃kol-hay/YOMall the day

    The lips of those that rose up against me, and their device against me all the day.

63. 63

    שִׁבְתָּםshiv/TAMtheir sitting downוְקִימָתָםve/ki/ma/TAMand their risingהַבִּיטָהhab/BI/tabeholdאֲנִיa/NII amמַנְגִּינָתָם׃man/gi/na/TAMtheir song

    Behold their sitting down, and their rising up; I am their musick.

64. 64

    תָּשִׁיבta/SHIVYou will renderלָהֶםla/HEMto themגְּמוּלge/MULrecompenseיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDכְּמַעֲשֵׂהke/ma/a/SEaccording to the work ofיְדֵיהֶם׃ye/de/HEMtheir hands

    Render unto them a recompence, O LORD, according to the work of their hands.

65. 65

    תִּתֵּןtit/TENYou will giveלָהֶםla/HEMto themמְגִנַּת־לֵבme/gin/NAT-levsorrow of heartתַּאֲלָתְךָta/a/la/te/KHAYour curseלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

    Give them sorrow of heart, thy curse unto them.

66. 66

    תִּרְדֹּףtir/DOFYou will pursueבְּאַףbe/AFin angerוְתַשְׁמִידֵםve/tash/mi/DEMand destroy themמִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatfrom beneathשְׁמֵיshe/MEthe heavens ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    Persecute and destroy them in anger from under the heavens of the LORD.
