Isaiah 64 יְשַׁעְיָהוּ פרק ס״ד

1. 1

   כִּקְדֹחַas-when-kindlesאֵשׁfireהֲמָסִיםbrushwoodמַיִםthe-waterתִּבְעֶה־אֵשׁmakes-to-boil-fireלְהוֹדִיעַto-make-knownשִׁמְךָYour-nameלְצָרֶיךָto-Your-enemiesמִפָּנֶיךָat-Your-presenceגּוֹיִםthe-nationsיִרְגָּזוּ׃might-tremble

   As when the melting fire burneth, the fire causeth the waters to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence!

   בַּעֲשׂוֹתְךָwhen-You-didנוֹרָאוֹתterrible-thingsלֹאnotנְקַוֶּהwe-looked-forיָרַדְתָּYou-did-come-downמִפָּנֶיךָat-Your-presenceהָרִיםthe-mountainsנָזֹלּוּ׃flowed-down

   When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.

   וּמֵעוֹלָםand-from-of-oldלֹא־שָׁמְעוּthey-have-not-heardלֹאnotהֶאֱזִינוּperceived-by-the-earעַיִןthe-eyeלֹא־רָאָתָהhas-not-seenאֱלֹהִיםa-godזוּלָתְךָbeside-Youיַעֲשֶׂהshould-doלִמְחַכֵּה־לוֹ׃for-him-that-waits-for-him

   For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.

   פָּגַעְתָּYou-did-strike-downאֶת־שָׂשׂhim-that-rejoicedוְעֹשֵׂהand-workedצֶדֶקrighteousnessבִּדְרָכֶיךָin-Your-waysיִזְכְּרוּךָremembered-Youהֵן־אַתָּהbehold-Youקָצַפְתָּhave-been-angryוַנֶּחֱטָאand-we-have-sinnedבָּהֶםin-those-waysעוֹלָםalwaysוְנִוָּשֵׁעַ׃and-shall-we-be-saved

   Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou art wroth; for we have sinned: in those is continuance, and we shall be saved.

   וַנְּהִיand-we-areכַטָּמֵאas-one-that-is-uncleanכֻּלָּנוּall-of-usוּכְבֶגֶדand-as-a-garment-ofעִדִּיםfilthinessכׇּל־צִדְקֹתֵינוּall-our-righteousnessesוַנָּבֶלand-we-do-fadeכֶּעָלֶהas-a-leafכֻּלָּנוּall-of-usוַעֲוֺנֵנוּand-our-iniquitiesכָּרוּחַlike-the-windיִשָּׂאֻנוּ׃take-us-away

   But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

   וְאֵין־קוֹרֵאand-there-is-none-that-callsבְשִׁמְךָon-Your-nameמִתְעוֹרֵרthat-stirs-himself-upלְהַחֲזִיקto-take-holdבָּךְof-Youכִּי־הִסְתַּרְתָּfor-You-have-hidפָנֶיךָYour-faceמִמֶּנּוּfrom-usוַתְּמוּגֵנוּand-have-consumed-usבְּיַד־עֲוֺנֵנוּ׃in-the-hand-of-our-iniquity

   And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

   וְעַתָּהand-nowיְהֹוָהthe-LORDאָבִינוּour-fatherאָתָּהYou-areאֲנַחְנוּweהַחֹמֶרthe-clayוְאַתָּהand-Youיֹצְרֵנוּour-potterוּמַעֲשֵׂהand-the-work-ofיָדְךָYour-handכֻּלָּנוּ׃we-all

   But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

8. 8

   אַל־תִּקְצֹףbe-not-indignantיְהֹוָהthe-LORDעַד־מְאֹדso-veryוְאַל־לָעַדneither-for-everתִּזְכֹּרrememberעָוֺןiniquityהֵןbeholdהַבֶּט־נָאsee-we-beseech-YouעַמְּךָYour-peopleכֻלָּנוּ׃we-are-all

   Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.

9. 9

   עָרֵיthe-cities-ofקׇדְשְׁךָYour-holinessהָיוּare-becomeמִדְבָּרa-wildernessצִיּוֹןZionמִדְבָּרa-wildernessהָיָתָהis-becomeיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemשְׁמָמָה׃a-desolation

   Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.

    בֵּיתthe-house-ofקׇדְשֵׁנוּour-holinessוְתִפְאַרְתֵּנוּand-our-beautyאֲשֶׁרwhichהִלְלוּךָpraised-Youאֲבֹתֵינוּour-fathersהָיָהisלִשְׂרֵפַתfor-a-burning-ofאֵשׁfireוְכׇל־מַחֲמַדֵּינוּand-all-our-pleasant-thingsהָיָהisלְחׇרְבָּה׃laid-waste

    Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

11. 11

    הַעַל־אֵלֶּהat-these-thingsתִתְאַפַּקwill-You-restrain-Yourselfיְהֹוָהthe-LORDתֶּחֱשֶׁהwill-You-hold-Your-peaceוּתְעַנֵּנוּand-afflict-usעַד־מְאֹד׃so-very-greatly

    Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O LORD? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore?
